Thanks for a good laugh, guys, sorry for the off-top. When I lived in Denmark, we had a mini ATX Fujitsu at work, they were incredibly quiet. Fans would spin up only during summers, and only under a considerable load like encoding.2 points

Are mostly huge arse-kickers. no way he fits one of those into a slim case.2 points

A modded driver for 600 series might not work, yes, I'm Captain Obvious. 500 had a huge increase in their TDP, they aren't quiet. He wants quiet. I had a 560 Ti, I couldn't wait to get rid of it. One could fry eggs on the cover. I don't even mention about the noise on the allegedly "silent" model made by MSI.2 points

While I feel you, I can't imagine a scenario where you sit and stare at the back of your beautiful PC with that ugly adapter sticking in your face for longer than 30 seconds. Then another solution might include purchasing a dedicated, slim GPU with HDMI. Something like nVidia 400 series have drivers for Win2000. Just make a better research on the forum for exact models.2 points

Nothing wrong with a desire to have a quality product. Of course it's always advisable to purchase the ones that have a good, gold coating.2 points

The ones you buy on Ali-express or E-bay, maybe. Those that came with your videocard are good. That said, I'm talking only about known brands of GPU. Never had any troubles with them. Only one case of a weird discolouration when I used a very long HDMI cable with it. And as for the inability to enter BIOS during post, HDMI is designed that way. HDMI isn't designed to be used with monitors, DVI, VGA and DispalyPort are. HDMI is more like when you want to connect your PC to a high-end receiver or a huge TV to watch 2160p James Bond or X-files. Besides, there's no electronics inside of those adapters.2 points

Interestingly, your French Amazon site runs better in New Moon 28 than in Mypal 68, i.e. switching between the different models works, albeit rather sluggishly, at least on my old computer.2 points
-
I already reported here that Amazon Germany stopped working properly in Mypal 68.14.x: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183495-mypal-68/page/76/#findComment-1275586 Your posted article on Amazon France has even led to a crash of Mypal 68.14.7b on my old Windows XP machine when clicking on 8 ports Métal 34,99€. The causer of this misery is of course not @feodor2, but the website designers at Amazon, strictly following the rule: The more bloated, the better. However, I personally hope that @feodor2 can fix it one day.2 points

@SEDANEH I just take a look at the Bios from this Notebook. I think, that the whole legacy CSM setting is missing in that Bios. So, until now no chance for to install XP SP3, because it needs CSM (legacy boot, secure boot disabled). You have a chance with XP SP2 bit64 (see @reboot12) Dietmar1 point

What do you have against drug addicts!??! They are the best thing for the climate one could ever imagine, and some of them are very fun people. You, on the other hand, boring church goer from Midwest with 18327723710 children, and I bet every of your off-springs has 263863998 cars themselves. And you wrote you have several too, your family is awful for the US climate. I bet all of your cars use gasoline.1 point

Hi, I put the 14900k into the Asrock z690 Extreme 1700 socket board. Before first start, I update this board to the very last version of its Bios 20.01, which contains all the changes from Intel, for example in Microcode for the 14900k. This board Asrock z690 Extreme is the most stable board from all boards, that I ever tested in last 24 years. Now I run prime95 on it. It throttles also, but only from 5700 MHZ ==> 4900 MHZ maximal. Via this, the temperature with Dark Rock Pro 5 reaches 97 degrees on the E-cores, 92 degrees on the P-cores. prime95 runs now for 20min, no(!) crash. So, it looks that Intel did their most possible repair for this 14900k cpu. On the Asrock z690 Extreme board the 14900k seems to be stable and shows only little throttle under XP SP3 Dietmar1 point

It soon may change when Russia imposes their highest taxes and brings you their worst and overpriced medicine. And Ukraine will simply quit to fulfil Paris climate agreements, even though I have my doubts it ever did in full. BTW: Under Russia, Ukraine gifted the world with Chernobyl, we don't want this to repeat, so do your best, and good luck to you! I'm not sure if I'll be able to go there again due to my age.1 point

Are you out of your mind? How can you not know about huge poverty in USA? USA have AT LEAST 37 million poor people according to USA Census Bureau (which exclude non-cash factors such as food stamps or medical care or public housing)!!! 37 millions, Carl ! And this is only official numbers which excluding many factors like medical care (how convenient for establishment, by the way, i guess with medical care and housing this numbers would be much higher) ! USA middle class is basically destroyed, which was done intentionally by redistributing wealth to the rich. And impoverish people now radicalized and search for a "simple solution" which explain sudden right-wing shift in USA last years and last elections. It's such a baby-boomer phrase. I understand that you provably are from boomer generation, but you have access to internet and you could ask google or YouTube about how your country is doing. I personally abolished idea of moving to America almost a decade ago when i done my research and realized how impoverish USA become after 2008 financial ruin and how situation become worse and worse every year. Let alone that i have (like almost everyone) medical problems, visit to doctor cost in USA hundreds of dollars without insurance and in Ukraine it cost nothing. Appendectomy in USA according to David Pakman cost 27,495 dollars before insurance!!! In Ukraine it's free or almost free. I know that before big war many Americans was medical tourists in Ukraine, but i was shocked to learn recently, that they STILL visiting Ukraine to have access to cheap European level medicine instead of they privatized bankrupting monstrosity machine. You probably never heard about such left leaning YouTube channels like "Secular Talk" or "David Pakman" but i recommend you to watch they several video to learn more about situation with poverty in your country. Wealth Inequality in America Has Never Been Worse. The Middle Class Has Disappeared My Appendectomy If I Didn't Have Health Insurance UN Official Shocked By Extreme Poverty, 3rd World Disease In US1 point

Thanks, but it's exactly the same on Windows 10, where I'm not using the Paragon driver of course. I was thinking that it was due to the fact that it's an IDE controller connection, not a mass storage device connection. I can't remember whether it was the same when the disk was connected directly to the motherboard. Incidentally @Cixert my card is actually made by a company called SSU. There is very little about the card on their site, but is does look as if they only make the SU-SA3004 four port version, not the SU-SA3002 two port version. There's a driver download page, but not much else!1 point
-
@Cixert my latest board that allows the IDE mode option to be set in the bios is a Haswell Q87 mobo. On my later motherboards this option is no longer available.1 point

No one can really say. Here you can drive anything you want but it has to pass inspection. I'm sure there are different rules for different things. During the summer you can see vehicles from 80 years ago being driven around. There is also a consideration toward import laws. Some vehicles are illegal to drive here only because they are illegal to import, based on emissions, safety or some other regulation. Two examples are Nissan Skyline GT-R (car from 2 Fast 2 Furious movie) and I seem to recall that Hyundai made a model of Elantra for Europe in the 2010s that got 2-3x the MPG as the US model but was banned for import.1 point

2 computers connect to the same interface, so the possibility exists. Most (like 99.9%) of consumer routers never get updates or patched for CVEs.1 point

The Paris Agreement has always had the same complaint about it, that it was just an agreement and not binding. It was just used as a badge of honor. Many countries joined it but didn't change their operating procedures or used it as an excuse to make money from their citizens.1 point

You mean the one on the 95th engine? LOL, don't, keep that gem to yourself. Dude, we are talking about the browser on 118th engine, and it already struggles. Wanna be useful? Tell the readers what's going on, and how to deal with it. I've moved away from it, anyways. https://msfn.org/board/topic/186346-i-moved-to-centbrowser-i-feel-happy-about-it/page/5/#findComment-12775271 point

The router itself doesn't really have storage. It is not impossible but the malware would have to be specifically designed to be able to write to the router and outside of a TI, that isn't likely to be the case. It is certainly possible to cause problems for other computers on the same subnet. You will need to look into your router settings to see if it has an option for client isolation on WLAN. That should prevent other wireless clients from seeing each other in addition to wired clients being able to see wireless. I've seen some routers where this is enabled by default. The obvious first thing you should not do is put an infected system on a network. Clean it first, then you can connect it. Otherwise if you are asking for how you can completely isolate an infected machine on a shared network, that is another story and may not be possible with your current hardware setup. Of course, we have no idea what network hardware you are dealing with.1 point

@feodor2 Here is my feedback to your new release Mypal 68.14.7b: I can confirm that the loading and scrolling websites issue in multi-process mode doesn't occur anymore. Same applies to the issue that the GIF image animation was broken in single-process mode. This issue doesn't occur anymore, either. And last not least, same applies to the issue that the last confirmation popup is incorrectly displayed when installing extensions. This issue doesn't occur anymore, either. Good job! So, thank you very much for your quick bug fix version and for all your efforts! Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper1 point
