  1. So XP x64 doesn't have the global variables that store the major/minor versions after all (WRK does). In that event, you should look for MmCreatePeb or a similarly named function; this will provide the values that are fed to user mode version functions. You can also modify ntdll's RtlGetVersion or "intercept" kernel32's GetVersionExW.

  2. Their feature updates were very disruptive and unnecessary, nearly everyone of them would break at least one or two frequently used programs and then I'd have to wait for the kindness of the developer to fix it. Security updates is all we need. Like you said, let the user configure the OS the way they want.

  3. It looks like Windows 10 will have no more feature updates. Note to Microsoft: thank-you. Should have done this from the very beginning. https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/windows-it-pro-blog/windows-client-roadmap-update/ba-p/3805227

  5. Forum Rule #9 - 9. Do not bash old topics when a member has made it active again; it's been made active for a good reason: to answer an unanswered question, or to bring up new information. It does not need to be closed or deleted. I'm not really a "fan" of old topics being made new again, but there is nothing coherently "wrong" with making old topics active again.

  6. mina7601 ... I actually found the Profile Folder but not where I expected it to be. I expected it to be in the 'Application Data' folder but it is in the 'Application Data\Moonchild Productions' folder. I just downloaded the 'New build of Serpent/UXP for XP!' by Roytam1 earlier today and did some settings and then tried to find the Profile Folder where everything would be saved.. So when the Profile Folder is created it goes into 'Application Data\Moonchild Productions'. I don't know why this happens but I can live with it, just needed to locate that Profile Folder. I was getting ready to sign on and post about this and then I read your post. Thanks for the reply. Monroe

  7. I once dreamt that I was go-cart racing on the rings of Saturn. The next day, a lady turned out in front of me, I swirved to miss her, then swerved again to not get hit by an oncoming truck. The two quick swerves caused my car to fishtail. I rolled down a 30-degree embankment roughly 14-feet deep. The insurance estimates were that I rolled three times bumper over bumper and four times door over door. Luckiest day of my entire life! A police officer WITNESSED the entire thing and had the lady that pulled out in front of me already pulled over and escorted back to the scene. I swerved to MISS HER and she was thinking she could just KEEP ON DRIVING and NEVER STOP. Walked away with nothing but a BROKEN NOSE. Two witnesses saw the whole thing, one of them was a police officer or the "female driver" would have never so much as looked back! LUCKIEST day of my ENTIRE LIFE.

  8. Spotify is currently at version 1.2.11, but I am also interested in knowing if it's possible to port Spotify 1.2.11 to Windows 7.

  9. I have an explanation! You all talk too much, I'm too lazy to read/reply, everyone else has died off, very simple. Most posts are lots of milk, too casual, too obvious/generic, nothing that would engage me to support such conversations. The "joke" about me having fakes is getting too old, with a long grey beard. Besides, I have a life, I need to go to the gym, get encounters with my 26 y.o. aging girlfriend. Searching for a new one I might really like is hard and time consuming, due to the fact of me being too picky. So sorry I don't reply often, I'm just busy! Also, I try to reply to the ones with decent English only. Not "dry" English they teach in the third world countries' schools or modern day America. Principal. Only used in the states, purely American. Don't you remember Blade Principal from the German Spellforce? (2003).

  16. Look in ntos' RtlGetVersion. It's either hardcoded in there (Vista+) or it references the global variables that store the major and minor versions (XP x64, I'm almost certain).

  17. Agreed! Operating Systems should not have "features" - NONE. If I want a "snipping tool", I'll add it myself from available third-party apps. If I want a "firewall", I'll add it myself from available third-party apps. If I want an antivirus "defender", I'll add it myself from available third-party apps. If I want a "candy crush" kiddy game, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps. If I want "3D" paint or printer apps, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps. If I want "people" contacts right on the taskbar, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps. If I want to "share" files, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps. If I want an all-in-one sytem-level "Cortana" tracking, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps. If I want to "sync" files, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps. If I want my Start Menu to feed me advertisements, I'll add it myself from available third-party apps. The Operating System should just "operate", bloatfree. Something like that...
