  4. @Wunderbar98 JFYI, not really, it depends on a number of factors, on brand/model and what not, most (if not all) laptops that are "recent enough" won't have a BIOS access password reset by taking the CMOS battery off, some may still have a jumper to reset passwords, many will need specialized hardware, to either re-program or downright replace a chip: https://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch001302.htm @ frank woolf We need to know the EXACT make/model of that laptop in order to be able (maybe) to provide you with some specific advice. jaclaz

  6. I love nightmares. I feed from them. Food for my brain. I learned how to make them useful. I now even find them amusing. It all started in the early 80's when the russkies were threatening to kill us with an atomic bomb . Just like now , just like they always do . I was still a child so I was frightened then . So I decided to join the military and deal with 'em. Some might assume I have a disorder, no I don't . I passed all checks when joining the military, even though I was already enjoying my nightmares. My motto . A good nightmare this night makes your whole new day interesting.

  7. Hi ! Yeah , a good song indeed , the early 90's is my favourite time. I don't know about the States , but we had lots of dancing stages here , even at stadiums . And in Europe, all over Europe, open air dancing parties were pretty popular in that period. Where the heck did everybody go? There are several possibilities . 1st - It's just summer . (hellish heat, folks are tired) 2nd - vacations, went to the islands. 3rd - Generations of PC enthusiasts are gone and what we saw in the last 10 years were the last ones. 4th - Went to fight the commies , there's a good chance to kick their arse now in real time . I'm going there for my second time, in August I think , so expect no posts from me either . Though, I'm still not 100% decided . On one hand it's kind of another hobby of mine and is very pleasant (yet dangerous!) , on the other - I've already been there recently and now I hacked these new nVidia drivers for Vista so maybe I'm gonna stay to play and the commies would have to wait. It's too hot there now anyways. Hot , I mean the weather. What pleasure it would be, if you sweat all the time ? I don't like to sweat . I'd say the perfect time would be in October . In November maybe already too cold to sleep in the forests or empty houses during nights . Thank you for worrying . I 'm fine , how are you ? Why would I not want to reply to you ? You're a nice fella . P.S. I don't work for propaganda and NOT suggesting any members to go anywhere and risk their life. Must be your own choice.

  8. It should be kept in mind that it is not possible to add many Command Lines Switches to "destination" (I hope in English" is called identically). In my opinion (but I personally use few of them) it is necessary to create a batch file:

  9. Some issues with persistent storage with extensions tend to appear with 360EE. Try using an equivalent adblock extension if you want to test if the same happens. It is exactly the same just with a XP theme, some custom flags (configurations) when starting the browser and the capacity of installing extensions directly from the google webstore removed. All of which can be added to what I share. Cheers.

  11. <OT> Hi there @D.Draker I also enjoy that song and some of the remixed depending on what I'm expecting. Sometimes getting lost in a remix is needed for me. Sometimes takes me to good place and other times not so good. Anyways, just thought I'd ask you as you've still been posting as have it. Where the heck did everybody go? Even a gentleman I've been following for years here completely ignored me the other day, but I'm no losing sleep, least not over that. Ha I don't know, insomnia city lately and wake up wrecked from nightmares. Medication is awful, but another story. I'd hate to see this great forum go quiet and the other XP forum I'm on is also very quiet, as well. Just thought I'd ask you and hope you're managing well nowadays and take good care. No need to reply if you don't want to. <OT>

  12. I'm so glad to hear those settings helped you on that system and thanks for the screen grab. My Dell Dimension 3000 also has a Prescott Pentium 4 single core. Another another option is to try Roys FF45ESR build and you'll find the script is handled even better for low end devices. Another thing: I don't know, since its your uncles computer, you may not be able to make changes, but on my Prescott 4 I DO enable hyper threading in the bios. While on my Dell Optiplex ( my main computer ) Dual-core, I do not. https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/gaming/resources/hyper-threading.html We do what we can to make it work for us ....

  14. Resource consumption is not my big concern so far. v12 is totally fine with me. I am wondering if Arcticfoxie build posted in another thread is same telemetry-free effective as this one? Thanks.

  15. It's definitely going to take a while, as it's far from fully developed.

  16. It really depends on what you wanna use your computer for. Id say for the most part, both 7 and Vista (with the extended kernel) are solid choices, but 7 is definitely the safer choice of the two. Drivers and software compatibility are the primary concern for the choice between the two.

  17. It is possible to install the POSReady patches without using the registry hack - I have never applied the registry change and have installed all of the POSReady KBs. It's worth mentioning that you can extract an XP kb file using its /x switch ... kb4019276.exe /x:"c:\kb4019276". To apply the patch you can simply execute update.exe in the update folder. It is that update.exe that you need to replace and the update_SP3QFE.inf that needs changing. I have a version of a modified update.exe but I don't think it is allowed to post hacked Microsoft files. There is a how to mod your own starting here (I never did this, I downloaded my version many years ago): https://msfn.org/board/topic/171814-posready-2009-updates-ported-to-windows-xp-sp3-enu/page/4/#comment-1078363 I have always done it this way (starting from before the registry hack was known). Ben.

  18. You can read and try this-> https://forums.homecomingservers.com/topic/28434-windows-xp-users-step-by-step-guide-to-get-tequila-to-work-again/ It's an instruction to integrate TLS1.2. and 1.2 to XP and make IE8 work with TLS on XP But I don't think that OE6 will also work with this system patch. I think you will need a special patch for OE, too. I don't know if this is available somewhere. @visionhelp ... I'm really wondering why you don't install OE Classic. It's regular updatet and has maybe more future functionality than handmade patches. You don't need to worry about anything. No patches needed. Your OE6 Data (mails, accounts, adressbook) keeps untouched, and will be imported to OEclassic if you choose this option.
