  2. Don't you always do browser builds every week every time there's a change to the source code? I'm only just ordering cause you always build every week I can hardly believe what I'm reading here. A user of browser versions for which no money is charged and which have been developed on a purely voluntary basis for years (and this is of course very time-consuming!) has zero rights to order anything. I regard such comments as impertinent and disrespectful. What you can do with it is actually just this: And to give such claims a real reference again, new versions will come when they come. Be happy if something comes at all! AstroSkipper

  3. Windows XP: "My Computer" (100% sure it's mine) Windows Vista: "Computer" (just "a" pc but is not clear who is the owner) Windows 8.1: "This PC" (just "this" pc... but...it is mine?) Windows 10: "MS Computer" ( oh oh) Windows 11: "MS Service" (is not your pc anymore since you can't control windows update or what's happening in the background... )

  4. You, maybe, all others will bend to it. A couple years from now, when all browsers will quit working on 10, you will, too. Especially if we assume you already wanted to.

  5. I remembered, some 5-6 years ago, my ex-GF got an angry email threatening to make her naked photos public, it never happened, that's why I forgot. Now digging up my memory, the header contained a mass mailing IP from France. If I ever got such mail, I could care less, I'd say, go on, publish my pics, I'm proud of 'em. But girls.... it's a totally different story. To say the least, she was stressed, imagine those fragile early 20ish females. She never stored her pics on that PC, so yeah I agree, could be just phishing, to look at the reaction.

  6. Same old story for the usual participants in the bad deeds! France, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Denmark, GB and US don't deliberately use out-of-service tankers. So please don't mix everyone in one bag of garbage.

  7. ... If you are annoyed by that, you can always enable Supermium's dark mode, either via a cmdline switch (" --force-dark-mode") or internal flag "chrome://flags/#force-dark-mode" ; dark mode for web content can also be enabled via "chrome://flags/#dark-mode-settings" (Sm-v126-r6) ... ... Well, you can blame Microsoft for that, since they introduced "completely flat" with Win8 and later OSes; browser vendors had to follow and make their (browser) GUI blend with/appear native to the OS... ... When I load "chrome://settings/", I do see a left sidebar, where prefs are divided into 13+ sub-tabs, so I'd say they're "organised in some way" ; the prefs that do stand out/are easily discoverable are the ones Google deemed to be useful to the "average" Chrome user (i.e. the "masses", usually disinterested in even modifying the defaults ); settings an "advanced" Chrome user (like the MSFN members here ) would like to change are, sadly, mostly hidden behind many clicks and submenus ... If, OTOH, you're actually meaning "chrome://flags/" (aka "experiments"), then these are not supposed to be touched by "average Joe", they're akin to Mozilla's "about:config" (not to be touched, either), also presented in the form of a long list... This has been a standard Chromium feature for more years than I care to remember , even emulated by Mozilla in the Australis GUI/framework (first in Fx29, released on April 29, 2014, more than 10yrs ago), so not modern at all; it's been inherited (from Australis) in Serpent 52/55, does that make them "modern GUI", too ? You're simply being accustomed to the pre-Australis GUI of New Moon 28 (GUI of Fx24esr, released back on September 17, 2013), which is considered "legacy"... If you're in for a (nasty) surprise, try enabling Chrome Refresh 2023 flags in Supermium 124/126 ... In any case, there exist several "classic" flags in Supermium that restore some parts of the older Chrome GUI (e.g. trapezoidal tabs, rectangular omnibox, etc.) ... At the end of the day, and this is just me, I prefer a (modern) browser that can properly render the sites that are meaningful for me (e.g. GitHub) to a "beautiful", customisable, GUI of a browser that can properly render only the MSFN and Pale Moon forums (exaggerating here, but you get my drift ) ... Happy Holidays !

  8. Windows XP was working like Young girl(18-23), but without makeup. Windows 11 works like old lady (80-90), It is looks like young women, who got so much makeup to show up. Microsoft got so much headweight because of the less competitor for them. If some one create an OS that support to run any windows programs without any issue, Microsoft will fall apart.

  17. Yep, same here. It does not work in Mypal 68. You can test in Firefox 68 Portable and up if it is working at all. As I already wrote in my thread, not all extensions offered as compatible can be installed in Mypal 68.
    2 points
  18. Unfortunately, you are completely wrong. Extensions from the Pale Moon website are legacy ones for browsers based on Firefox up to version 56 as, for example @roytam1's browsers or Pale Moon itself, of course, whereas you need to install so called webextensions which you get from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ Of course, you can install only those that are compatible with Mypal 68 which is based on Firefox 68. But on this website, you will clearly see which extensions are compatible or not. If you are interested in more information about extensions and more targeting Mypal 68, then you can read in my special thread I created exclusively for this purpose: https://msfn.org/board/topic/183657-mypal-68-in-windows-xp-custom-buttons-and-extensions/ Cheers, AstroSkipper

  19. I forgot to mention that I referred to compilers which convert batch files to executables. I believe that the real problem lies in code snippets that are often used by script kiddies or hobby hackers. If this code appears in clean programs, then some AV scanners generate these false positives. Any further ideas?
    2 points
  20. Just a short feedback! I tried different compilers, but with moderate success. Some of my compiled program files are repeatedly classified as malware by various AV scanners, although they are absolutely clean, of course. I tried several variations of my programs' source codes. I am a little perplexed at the moment. Presumably, these false positives are caused by the misuse of these compilers by script kiddies or other hobby hackers. Actually, I would like to reduce these false positives from the established AV scanners. Any advice or tip is welcome! Cheers, AstroSkipper

  24. This is because of the file comctl32.dll, you need to try different versions, for MPC-BE I chose on the version from Server 2003 x86, with it the interface is displayed as correctly as possible, although the settings became with the classic theme. Here is this version, try to run with it. https://www.upload.ee/files/17540516/comctl32.zip.html Control buttons is a skin, try to remove it from MPC-HC folder, then standard buttons should appear. Unfortunately you can't make separate dll and ax with manifest, you need to have an executable file.

  26. Copilot has been failing miserably as well, too. Microsoft wants to rename it to Windows AI / Intelligence, and business companies aren't really finding it that interesting. Plus, most OEMs are just opting for Google's AI. Microsoft has failed (once again!) to get into the AI / Assistant space. I expect Copilot to eventually go the way of Cortana at some point.

  35. Dude, where did you came from with this idea that i am comparing them to germans? I am comparing orcs and putler to nazi's and hitler. Führer is a good German word, it translates to Leader, leader, driver, a locomotive driver for example, machinist of a steam engine, military rank, etc. It's not suitable to call that entity "Führer". Besides, according to the Russian Constitution, the legitimacy of that individual you called "Führer" had ended in 2007. Use simple math. 1999 + 2x4 = 2007. Now regarding the topic, I may start to like Russia, despite I helped your country 2x times. Thanks for letting me know Russia does de-pop on both sides, less people, more oxygen, good for the climate!

  37. I can't say what's going wrong in your system as I never have used Windows 2008. And I don't know whether New Moon 28 targets this OS at all. Under Windows XP, the "Make New Moon the default browser" button has always worked like a charm. And if this feature didn't work in other browsers, I either edited the respective registry entries manually or I used the tool Default Browser 1.8. Unfortunately, this tool is for Windows XP only but maybe, there is also a tool which does this job under your OS. Here are important registry locations which were set by me for using New Moon 28 as default browser under Windows XP: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Applications\palemoon.exe HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\http HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\https HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\ftp HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PaleMoonHTML HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\PaleMoonURL HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\Applications\palemoon.exe HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\http HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\https HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\ftp HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\PaleMoonHTML HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Classes\PaleMoonURL HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet\Pale Moon web browser HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet\PALEMOON.EXE Under the registry path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Clients\StartMenuInternet all registered standard web browsers are listed. So if you want to be offered a standard browser, you have to enter the corresponding one there. BTW, New Moon's native function for setting it as default browser is SetDefaultBrowser(). When checking its source code, you will exactly know what actions the "Make New Moon the default browser" button performs.
