  1. "Taskbar2" is new StartAllBack version with fully recreated taskbar. It's unfinished preview and is for testing only. It's all-new code which will pose new challenges and degradations... but breaking from stale taskbar implementation will provide new possibilities. Not finished: - No perks (centered, segmented ex.) - No translation for taskbar context menu Expect all kinds of things and try all kinds of software and tests Please stay strictly on topic. Do regression testing (compare with existing classic taskbar / stable version) Salvation: https://startisback.com/T2.exe

  3. DIY, we-don't-owe-you-anything-article from Microsoft. "This sample showcases how to use D3D12 on Windows 7, also known as D3D12On7. Specifically, this sample demonstrates how to write an app that supports running with Direct3D 12 both on Windows 7 ... with the same packaging layout and executable." "D3D12 doesn't exist on Windows 7 in such a way that you can do that. Instead, apps that want to use D3D12 on Windows 7 need to redistribute the D3D12.dll file, along with supporting binaries." https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/samples/microsoft/directx-graphics-samples/d3d12-12-on-7-sample-win32/

  4. I bought the most expensive OC EVGA version of GT1030, just for laughs ans tests. It was very popular at MSFN. The box clearly promises "full DX12 support". Guess what, not a single game could identify it properly. The same as in Reddit topics.

  5. I have a native DX12 card (Titan X) 12GB, the crappy DX12 implementation in it exists only on paper. Terrible FPS with all DX12 titles.

  6. Not only that card is super budget, esp. in the 3Gb form, gtx 1060 is almost a decade old, and has a very poor implementation of directX 12. Let's call it "beta stages", whereas Maxwell was alpha, only starting from their 2000 series one can talk serious about DX12. https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/4xecbj/gtx_1060_and_directx12/ https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/q95x4t/poor_fpsperformance_in_nondirectx_12_games/ https://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/oudm83/gtx_1060_6gb_failed_to_create_directx_12_device/

  9. I have tried Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool 2015 v15.0.28 on my SSE-only Inspiron 7500. I would be VERY CAREFUL: 1) I have downloaded kvrt.exe FOUR times, in a period of 2 hours, 3 downloads were just minutes away from each other. All four downloads differed substantially from each other and were not digitally signed, i.e. the differing files kvrt.exe may have been individually marked. 2) The license agreement specifically states that Kaspersky ("the Rightholder") will receive a lot of information from you and about your computer. You have to mark THREE separate checkboxes that you explicitly agree before you can proceed. After kvrt.exe ran for about 5 mins, the window Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool came up, Ready to Scan, This version is obsolete, Database release date 30.06.2024. I clicked on Cancel because I had run kvrt.exe under Total Uninstall, with the Ethernet cable disconnected. A StartUp Organizer msg window had popped up, indicating one Run Once registry entry. Upon rebooting there was no desktop icon, no -> Start -> Programs entry to start Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool. Total Uninstall showed a lot of entries for Kaspersky Virus Removal Tool, but I could not find KVRT files on the HDD, except for the license agreement. It seems that kvrt.exe is a portable program and doesn't install anything. In any case, I didn't make a scan and restored the WinXP partition to wipe out any installed stuff. Was I overly cautious, with the four differing kvrt.exe files downloaded and the three separate checkboxes in the License agreement?

  10. Most antimalware scanners have problems with multi-packed archives. Personally, I never scan archives. It takes far too long on my old computer. I only scan archives when I unpack them and really need the files they contain. Regarding multi-packed archives I don't like them and usually avoid downloading such files. The method of multiple packaging has always been a strategy for hiding and foisting malware on the user of such files. Download sources that use this strategy are generally dubious.

  11. I just moved my taskbar to the top of the screen and got this little glitch for a moment with the start button. It returned back to the left after a moment. However when it returned it kept a large gap. Edit: Moved it back to the bottom and the start button is totally gone. I can't attach the screenshot because I'm out of space on MSFN but picture a large gap, I hover my mouse over it and it comes back.

  12. I actually used a Serpent 52 version from July 2023 because very often times, the older versions are indeed FASTER. So yeah, I've had to update to July 2024 also. I've not actually bumped into the Promise.allSettled until this hotline.ua was cited.

  13. SUPERAntiSpyware Free and Professional X Edition SuperAntiSpyware analyses Windows systems for malware of all kinds. Both versions, the Free Edition and the Professional X Edition scan the PC for spyware, adware, malware, Trojans, dialers, worms, keyloggers, rootkits and hijackers. According to the developers, the software with an AI-Powered Detection Engine recognizes more than 1 billion malware threats. Unfortunately, real-time protection is only available in the commercial Professional X Edirion. Although it is not listed on the homepage, SUPERAntiSpyware is compatible with Windows XP (and probably with Windows Vista too). Only the more recent installers are no longer compatible with Windows XP, starting with the version 10.0.1256. The definitions database can also be updated offline. Comparison of features: Homepage: https://www.superantispyware.com/ More details about the features of each version can be found on their homepages. Homepage of the Free Edition: https://www.superantispyware.com/free-edition.html Homepage of the Professional X Edition: https://www.superantispyware.com/professional-x-edition.html Version number: 10.0.1266 Date of release: 29.04.2024 System requirements: Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 10, Windows 11 Version history: https://www.superantispyware.com/producthistory.html?id=SUPERANTISPYWARE Articles, tests and tutorials: https://www.computerbild.de/artikel/cb-Tipps-Software-SuperAntiSpyware-Changelog-Tutorial-und-SuperAntiSpyware-vs.-Malwarebytes-33203535.html https://www.computerbild.de/download/SuperAntiSpyware-Free-Edition-4219359.html (German websites, please use an online translator!) https://www.clevguard.com/spyware-remover/superantispyware-review/ https://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/Popup-Ad-Spyware-Blockers/SUPERAntiSpyware.shtml Download links: Free Edition (last installer compatible with Windows XP): https://download.filepuma.com/files/spyware-removers/superantispyware/SuperAntiSpyware_v10.0.1254.exe Free Edition (latest installer only compatible with Windows 7 and above): https://secure.superantispyware.com/SUPERAntiSpyware.exe Professional X Edition (last installer compatible with Windows XP): https://download.filepuma.com/files/spyware-removers/superantispyware/SuperAntiSpyware_v10.0.1254.exe Professional X Edition (latest installer only compatible with Windows 7 and above): https://secure.superantispyware.com/SUPERAntiSpywarePro.exe Definitions Database Updater: https://secure.superantispyware.com/SASDEFINITIONS.EXE Definitions Database Information: https://www.superantispyware.com/definitions.html Installation instructions: After installing the version 10.0.1254, you simply have to execute the internal updater to get the most recent version installed. Here is a screenshot of the Free Edition after executing the internal updater under Windows XP: The installer of the Free Edition can also be used to install the Professional X Edition if the user owns a genuine licence code. Screenshots: I have been using SUPERAntiSpyware since 2007, starting with version 3. The last compatible version with Windows 98 and ME was 4.24.1004. Since 2011, I have been in possession of a lifetime licence and have been using it in the Professional Edition ever since. SUPERAntiSpyware Professional has been XP-compatible for many years and actually runs without problems. Only a short period the XP compatibility was broken when it came to the version 10.0.1252 but then immediately restored again. However, the more recent installers are unfortunately no longer compatible with Windows XP, starting with the version 10.0.1256. This means that the actual SUPERAntiSpyware programme runs perfectly under Windows XP , but unfortunately the current programme installers do not. Besides the scanning features, the tab System Tools is very interesting and helpful for repairing PC damages caused by malware. The Free Edition is definitely worth a look and simply costs nothing. So, you can't lose anything. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  15. As far as the Promise.allSettled function error, this was always a Serpent error on older versions (edit: strictly in reference to cited hotline.ua) but was resolved in January of this year. Resolved with this release:

  20. Furthermore, I checked RogueKiller Anti-Malware. This programme also requires a CPU with at least SSE2 instruction set. Accordingly, I will edit my main article in terms of hardware requirements.

  21. I also checked eScanAV Anti-Virus Toolkit (MWAV) 22.0.60 on an old machine with an Athlon XP 3200+ SSE-only CPU. It failed and therefore, an SSE2 CPU at least is unfortunately necessary. Accordingly, I edited my main article in terms of hardware requirements.

  22. @Multibooter Here are the hardware requirements for eSan Anti-Virus 11: This information can be found in their user guide which is no longer available. However, I found a link via the Wayback Machine: https://web.archive.org/web/20160801015535/http://download1.mwti.net/marketing/New_Artworks/eScan11/UserGuide/PDF/eScan_AV_User_Guide.zip As you can see, a Pentium II 200 MHz is the minimum hardware requirement, and this one has no SSE2 instruction set but MMX only, at least as far as I know. That means eSan Anti-Virus 11 should actually run on your old system.

  23. You seem to have checked older versions of eScanAV. Does it mean that the version eScanAV Anti-Virus Toolkit (MWAV) 22.0.60, which I presented in my article, doesn't work on your SSE-only system?

  25. I once had a weird colour problems, it was caused by a worn out, old HDMI cable, once I replaced it with a good shielded cable, all came back to normal. Don't buy China cables, they lack good copper. The best ones are still left on the market are Dutch or maybe Japan.

  27. I don’t think that video blurring in Firefox is caused by telemetry, I can’t say, I’ve never had this happen, but you need to install the drivers correctly from the very beginning so as not to blame them later. After processing nvslimmer, go to the Display.Driver folder, open the files via notepad2 and erase everything that is there by preserving DisplayDriverRAS.dll NvProfileUpdaterPlugin.dll NvTelemetry64.dll nvtopps.db3 nvtopps.dll and then just install the driver after installing the driver, go to drive C and insert the names of these files into the search in the upper right corner and delete everything using unlocker This is how to install this driver correctly )) That is, first erase everything that is there in these files and after installation, then delete them. After my online game began to freeze, I spent a couple of days to understand how to install this driver correctly and there were no more problems and I have Firefox 127 version installed on win 7 and it works fine

  30. Of course, Avast Antivirus 2015 is able to work offline, But that's not the point. It was never intended to work offline only. Apart from that, the number of signatures is not a measure of the quality of an antimalware programme. Who knows what Kaspersky classifies as malicious? And to be honest, it doesn't really matter. Because one can't trust a spyware programme anyway.
