  5. Why would you care about it? Only users below 10 might notice, At least, it's less of bother with polyfilling.

  7. The McAfee Anti-Malware Engine 5800 is from August of 2015. Are you really sure that the most recent dat files for updating definitions are still compatible with this old engine? Did you try updating using the most recent dat file? BTW, the McAfee Anti-Malware Engine 5900 from February of 2017 seems to be the last compatible with Windows XP as far as I could read. All this with special consideration that the latest engine is 6710 which is of course no longer compatible with Windows XP.

  9. I have been using this software for a long time, but previously its website was not in English, so I had to use translation tools. Recently, I discovered that it has switched to English, so I am sharing it. The site is still very rough, but the tiny thing good enough for me. It looks like the search engine you are using hasn't updated the data for this website yet.

  11. McAfee Stinger seems to have abandoned Windows XP in 2021. For testing purpose, I tried to open several stinger32.exe files from 2021 which are supposed to be still XP-compatible but I am always getting the following messsge: "McAfee Stinger executable has been modified and may be infected". Can anyone confirm this?

  16. Thanks for your interest! In the end, I couldn't figure out why the described issue occurred in one Windows XP partition but not in the other. One of the rare issues that I couldn't fix. The good thing is that I am now using a much better startup manager. So, thanks to Glarysoft for this issue!

  17. I have a rule of updating my browser in about a year, maybe a bit over a year. 15-16 versions is the maximum where it needs to be thrown away. Just polyfilling simply isn't enough.

  18. In the EU, there are clear laws regarding data protection and security. And this is also monitored. In dictatorships and other non-democratically run countries, there is no data protection and security. Software, especially antimalware programmes, from such countries cannot provide security for the user. They only protect their own interests.

  20. Probably the new flag for disabling didn't work either. I remember it made no sense in v87. I started to notice the difference when applied the flag only in 110 and up.

  23. There is nothing wrong with a little more security, no matter how experienced you are. But it must not lead to the computer being totally overloaded. My real-time protection is always partially switched on or off as required. Web protection and exploit protection are always activated. My old computer copes very well with this.

  24. An antimalware/antivirus programme which generates more than 1465 registry entries can't be really light on resources, IMHO. What do you actually mean by "light on resources"? What about disk, RAM and CPU load? Any values?

  25. EDIT: Tick "Use Classic 'legacy' boot menu Legacy" from Boot Menu Style set Policies to attempt force disabled Hiberboot (=Disabled Fast Startup) with HiberbootEnabled=0 in "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\System" and "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System" (this last seems wrong, if we look at ADMX). but these Policies doesn't work and they are not required. Need to be replaced by HiberbootEnabled=0 set in "HKLM\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power" location (sorry for my wording)

  26. I had written about user agent hacks ages ago' all can be found at my account, people just don't listen, hopefully they will listen to @AstroSkipper. Another important hack is OS bitness in user agent, always choose 32 bit OS. esp. if you're on XP 32 bit! Youtube (and the such) will serve less scripts for 32 bit OS.

  27. Sorry to hear that. Back in the day was advised against laptops, notebooks and so on 'cause they're difficult to repair. Never had anything like that, though today's mobile phones are almost there. I must admit everything small, thin and mobile makes me suspicious. I feel that they're designed so we can't detach from the device. I already sound like a conspiracy theorist.

  28. The English are a Western Germanic people, descendants of the Angles, Saxons and Jutes! These were Germanic people came mostly from Denmark. Later were called Anglo-Saxons to distinguish them from the Saxons who remained on the continent. The English language, culture, even the country England ( Angle-land or land of the Angles) began with these people! Now their strongest genetic impact would be in eastern England where they first settled and progressively moved west. As time went on, the Anglo-Saxons became more dominant and practiced an "Apartheid" style system towards the Britonnic people whom they subdued and eventually intermingled with. Though they were pockets of resistance especially in Wales ("land of foreigners" in Anglo-Saxon speech) and also to a lesser extent in Cornwall. Without the Anglo-Saxons, there'd be no England or Wales, it would just be Britannia. Genetically also there is a difference between the Welsh and English, I'll get there soon. The Anglo-Saxon law codes are in fact the only know Germanic law codes firstly written in a Germanic language!! All the other continental Germanic law codes were first written in Latin and were influenced by Roman law. This alone shows the "purity" of the early Anglo-Saxon laws beginning with the laws of King Aethelbert of the old Anglo-Saxon kingdom of Kent (7th century). The continental Germanic laws were called in the Middle Ages "leges barbarorum" in Latin or laws of the Barbarians. Firstly the English are Germanic, because their language is part of the Germanic language family. Germanic people are not all genetically identical either, if you think that, you are wrong. Nevertheless, there are set of genes which may be common among them. Paternal lineages or Y-DNA haplogroups may be used to see which ones occurs most frequently in Germanic populations. I actually knew it, that's why I always say Astroskipper's English is simply fantastic ! It's very hard to find pictures with Frisian folks !!! @AstroSkipper, greetings, haven't heard from you for a long while, help us with the pics, no ? Thank you !
