  1. Hi, well, I checked again, and passwords are saved, but cookies aren't functioning.

  2. Could be the engine is still at 109 chrome? All new uBlock versions work as expected in other ports.

  3. I have noticed that the more recent versions of uBlock Origin, especially the version 1.58 and the development builds 1.58.x, do not work properly in Thorium. Thus, I went back to the version 1.49.2 as it seems to work as usual. All in the legacy SSE2 Win XP release of Thorium. Did anyone also observe problems with recent versions of uBlock Origin in Thorium?

  4. And we have ZERO interest of reading spammy, off-topic posts like this, here at MSFN.

  5. Encryption creates a unique ID of your machine, it's used for fingerprinting. For example, Thorium developer can trace you by the logs. It's very convenient for devs to see which machine generated an error. In Brave and other Chromes it's used in guinea pigs "variations" tests. Google what it is.

  7. Post on win32's Patreon suggests it could. Nah, I'm waiting for win32. I would expect something along the lines of the build at https://storage.googleapis.com/chromium-browser-continuous/index.html?prefix=Win/291943/ quality/stability wise.

  8. And then you ask me why I disable all acceleration on my Titan (from the same 7 series)! I even have much worse result, it spikes to the max all the time. GTX770 is a re-branded GTX680, which would be 12-13 years now (or more). Probably try older drivers? People reported somewhat decent results with 347.26 or 355.xx (iCafe).

  9. well someone opened the image format question over SVG we made it to the heic image format (both software and hardware register based (not gpu (but guess what they are useally the same or the software controlled ones are useally a bit better because you can set them + being upgraded)), the same encoder can encode video too what we should realize that we cant skip the encode timing so easy actually it makes a very big difference how complex (aka slower) you set the encoder someone already did a graph showing that https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/968944/195952757-cd1cdab4-6c8e-46a3-b5ed-de7fcce1371f.png https://user-images.githubusercontent.com/968944/195952806-758d0240-020b-4936-ba09-d79e62bf0d3f.png very easy to see it that the image quality (measured in DB (higher is bigger 42 + are useally very good) increases using slower settings while the "fastest" is going with like less DB the "slow" is going with increasing DB so i actually did not want to have the settings faster faster fast ect. because to me it seems a fault to set these but we have some advantaged not only slow we can set the best (placebo) (strukturag only use slow later on) the increase in image quality increase for both (smaller file sizes) and (more image quality overall) using the slow/or aka the encoder settings that do more complex methods that aka take more time so you can pass jpg in both better image quality and smaller file size what i could do is using a pure RGB buffer (what is lossless) aka the BMP file format but a raw file done to PNG is already lossless, im not certain about all compress settings for PNG but the big one (0) is lossless so either having a .heic file you can convert it to a PNG file and see it lossless in the common windows image viewer, or making the .heic file to a jpg and also can open that file with the common windows image viewer what i came to realize is that the heic encoder also can be done others encoders like the AOM encoder or the SVT encoder (those create a .avif file) the methods are very similiar, i think for video avif might have an adventage now because it can use more methods for video - i do not think that is the case for images - but if someone can fix me up just do it with a BMP file we would have a better editing method, we could make the heic file to a BMP file and overwork that BMP in the common windows editor (and then just compress it again) (+ a editor is exactly doing this (you just dont see it useally)) but having video encoder question actually it was actually more difficult to make an image then a video, i think we could do a video encoder also - but that opens a big question to control all the formats is a little to much but a simple one that supports 1-2 formats and not much of settings would be possible not to say that there are h.265 video encoders already out there but the image encoder for .heic supporting xp was a new thing - and that engines removed up, no files needed at all (while the one from win10 need internal win10+ files) https://msfn.org/board/topic/185879-winxp-hevcheifheic-image-encoderdecoder/

  10. I wonder why we have the entire Android subforum. @chermany4ever Thank you for detailed response, it means a lot! My mood can vary wildly and I'm a bit down in recent times. Sometimes I want to do something new on my own and even what's supposed to be easy relatively speaking turns out to be challenging for me. It's depressing. I suspected the trends you mentioned were the ones you had in mind initially. I tried to imply at the later point running Chromium-based browser might still be trendy, even if not running it on legacy systems specifically. I still have Supermium on XP x64 installation, only deleted it and Thorium from Win11. I might still try out the upcoming Supermium build on XP to see how it'll be able to use the GPU.

  11. Imagine you go to the hospital 'cause you feel unwell and the Doc says "ah go home, in the end you die". If Mozart had had that mentality he wouldn't have left us his great music that has stimulated intelligence, happiness and the will to live in millions of other human beings, although he didn't live long. In short, I don't think we should downplay importance of millions of things life involves 'cause of death. Even software. You said sometimes you entertain yourself by re-programming. I love software because I feel it makes our lives easier. Sometimes we're annoyed by what software does on our machine... but what software do we install on ourselves? I think we humans are still very unaware of the impact our attitudes can have on the lives of others. I'm thinking of doing the same. Discarded Supermium 'cause it destroyed my system. I'm having more patience with Thorium 'cause it works better and you've helped me a lot to make it more stable on my system but I feel it's too heavy, I don't depend on Google for anything, I don't Sync, so I feel much more comfortable with 360 Chrome 13.5 Redux1 ungoogled. It's very light, it works very well, I even was able to install a couple of security extensions and it doesn't accumulate any space on my disks. I feel with Serpent and 360Chrome I'm fine for my browsing needs. At least for now. As I always say, I recognise the effort and as another fellow here said, I totally agree: the more options the better. Thought it was irony! I'm a musician, I love the arts, I've made my machine the perfect home theatre for me. Music, movies, forums. Very little social media these days 'cause I think they're completely polluted with fear mongering and yellow journalism. I'm very interested in the opposite of that. So I follow a few people I find interesting and uplifting. Sometimes I leave a lot to context thinking what I say is understood. I wanna clarify I was referring to what I believe is a consumerist tendency that dictates that, for instance, next year your mobile phone won't work 'cause it won't be compatible with "something" so you'll have to buy another one, and so on and so on and so on. What we do here and in other spaces shows with some work, wit and will you can move forward without spending much or paying for ignorance or as the guys working on Linux show, you don't need to use way too many resources to have an up to date experience. I understand that often new structures need new bases but I also understand that it's possible to make new structures work on used bases if it does no harm.

  12. Ok. I do not use any sync features. As far as I know, Google has restricted its sync feature and excluded Chromium Browser. This means that synchronisation should actually no longer be possible in the Chromium browsers Supermium and Thorium, either. Is it really possible there in these days? In any case, there is not a single feature that would make me use a browser like Google Chrome that fills me up with adverts from start to finish.

  13. Although off-topic, you are right regarding Chrome on Android. But the original Chrome browser is totally crappy. You are bombarded with advertising rubbish. I never use this browser under Android. You should rather use the Chrome based variant Kiwi which supports extensions. I have installed uBlock Origin there, and it works fine. Bye, bye ads!

  14. What trends? I think there are no real trends. Many here are quite volatile, rather wavering. Spoken for me only, I will continue to observe the development of Thorium. It runs quite well on my old box except for media playback. But New Moon 28 remains my main browser there and finally again Mypal 68 in version 68.14.2b, which runs really well now. And on the subject of dying, personally, I am a genuine Windows XP die-hard fan. I'll probably always be one, come what may.

  16. --disable-machine-id switches of the generating of a unique ID. That ID serves several purposes, the first one is tracking and helping police to investigate and build a case against you, if you don't behave. It's used to prove you posted threats from your PC (for example). P.S. I'd always use this flag with Thorium, especially! Remember the scandal with child porn? (can be read at the start)

  17. For me, If I use always use --disable-machine-id and --disable-encryption, only extensions and saved passwords are left. Cookies are completely broken if moved to another PC.

  18. You can try to transfer your Thorium profile from a flash drive to another one which both are formatted in NTFS. Maybe then it works.

  19. I use Opera (Mobile) only on Android. No command line flags there, and there are only four internal flags available.
    1 point
  20. It shouldn't be like that, even if you always used those two flags. Probably your motherboard, OS and username are the same or similar? The browser gets you PC info via GetOEMCP. Is it on XP, by any chance? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/win32/api/winnls/nf-winnls-getoemcp

  21. Yes! But Opera devs don't allow to use them.
    1 point
  22. Most private data collecting browsers, like the infamous Chinese Opera, don't allow to use that flag! This ought to tell something! We, along with @D.Draker, discovered it's bound to Opera Customer Unique ID.
    1 point
  23. I hope you all know that a new profile must be initially created using the two portable flags, and don't even think to launch it without them even once!

  24. Both use flash memory chips. Drives which use flash memory chips are logically flash drives even when the term flash drive is often used for a USB stick in the English language but not in the German language. But the question was actually a completely different one. That's just a side issue.

  25. What file system is used on the USB stick? FAT32? And on your SSD? NTFS? BTW, both are from a technical point of view flash drives.
    1 point
  26. Yes, but only if you want to have the extensions left, cookies aren't allowed to be transferred anyways!!! I just tried with a site similar to a forum, I copied the browser with this flag to another PC, Cookie became invalid, and I was forced to fully login!

  27. I have an explanation. When real capitalists ran the West, everything was fine. Nowadays commies ran the majority of all businesses. I was in shock when discovered they only allow you to buy the exact (low) amount of items in America! Like 3 CPUs in one hands. They started to shove down our throats those limits rather recently. It's not capitalism. It's freaking Soviet Union! In real capitalism you buy whatever amount you want!

  28. The World's populace numbers are terrible, agree. "Thanks" to China, Russia, Latin America, Africa and India. I'm in shock how fast they grew in size in the last 30 years, of course if they don't stop to overpopulate the Earth, something terrible will happen to the planet. There's literally no place for animals anymore! In Europe, most of the land is occupied with farms. Thankfully, the locals don't spawn here like rabbits.

  29. What's UXP browsers? Something for Xeon Processors only?
    1 point
  30. Yep! I like UXP browsers. But if another browser offers such a security feature, why should I disable it? That would make no sense. I only disable features which have a noticeable, negative impact of the system or browser performance. And of course those which cause problems or are not supported by the system anyway.

  31. And yes, @Tripredacus is absolutely right! Windows 7 was also distributed as RTM with SP1 (at least with Fujitsu, see the image below).

  32. @sonyu Grub.efi, AmiSetupWriter.efi, SceEfi64.efi, RU.efi, dmpstore - these are different tools that are used for the same - to change CMOS and EFI VARIABLES e.g. BIOS Lock in my AMI UEFI BIOS: using IFR Extractor (best from UBU) make file setup_extr.txt from bios file search BIOS Lock variable - offset is 0xB52 VarStore is 0x1 and this ID is Setup EFI VARIABLE: 0x4F0D0 One Of: BIOS Lock, VarStoreInfo (VarOffset/VarName): 0xB52, VarStore: 0x1, QuestionId: 0xC42, Size: 1, Min: 0x0, Max 0x1, Step: 0x0 {05 91 9A 0A 9B 0A 42 0C 01 00 52 0B 10 10 00 01 00} search VarStoreId 0x1 - Name: Setup: 0x2BDF5 VarStore: VarStoreId: 0x1 [EC87D643-EBA4-4BB5-A1E5-3F3E36B20DA9], Size: 0x1331, Name: Setup {24 1C 43 D6 87 EC A4 EB B5 4B A1 E5 3F 3E 36 B2 0D A9 01 00 31 13 53 65 74 75 70 00} Now if we know where the BIOS Lock setting is to change them by using various tools - AmiSetupWriter.efi is very simple - we only need to know offset: AmiSetupWriter 0xB52 0x0 In RU.efi we need to know EFI VARIABLE and Offset: But these tools will not help if EFI VARIABLES are write protected.
