A fair guess is to assume Supermium already includes the kernel mod within the non-disclosed, close source parts, like progwrp.dll, for example.2 points
-
1. No, we got a very cheap, green electricity, here in Holland, I'm more concerned with the unnecessary wear and log waiting times each start brings. 2. The same idi*otic voltage spikes each start brings, why would a browser need to bring my gpu to the full clocking state each start? Then it of course settles down, but it's simply not helping to let it survive longer.2 points
-
I don't understand the question. I have a fast HDD - Raptor, a very old GTX titan (produced: Januray 2013).2 points
-
No tests are needed since it's too obviously noticeable. Ungoogled opens up in a matter of milliseconds, while with the usual Chrome or even Supermium I have to wait for 3 seconds on my HDD. But then again, it may be different with your hardware.2 points
-
Then you've come to the right place, I don't think Supermium will ever be fully ungoogled. With the rate the developer adds Ungoogled features it may only happen in the year 3047. Why? I don't know, probably the ungoogled demand is low.2 points

I'm sure the readers and myself would be very pleased if the information you provide was presented in a little more detail. What exactly did you test? How did you determine that no connection to the cloud servers was established? And so on. People want to be able to understand and judge what exactly you have investigated and how you came to your conclusions. BTW, have you already tested the most recent version 360 Total Security 11.0.0.1083? On its homepage, it is claimed to be still XP-compatible.2 points

Pretty much what the topic says, I was able to get Injustice 2 {2018} up and running, after I figured out how to install these new video drivers, I have to admit, it was not easy to find any help topics about nVidia, the search showed only bizarre results. https://msfn.org/board/topic/183688-breakthrough-new-nvidia-drivers-ported-to-vista-tutorial/ But no sound, no matter what I do. Please share the ideas. the game shows no particular errors and works fine.1 point

... There exist several "caches" in Chromium-based browsers: Browser Cache, App Cache, ShaderCache, GrShaderCache, Code Cache, GPUCache (this list from my KMB profile; Ch87-based ); I'm not aware of a "method" to clear browser cache on a "per-site" basis (probably exists, just not aware of it ) ... As for the second part of your question, it seems to be a recurring one : https://msfn.org/board/topic/182304-extreme-explorer-360-chromium-78-86-general-discussion/?do=findComment&comment=1216282 ... and an answer from "yours, truly": https://msfn.org/board/topic/182304-extreme-explorer-360-chromium-78-86-general-discussion/?do=findComment&comment=1216289 Then again: https://msfn.org/board/topic/182993-360-extreme-explorer-arcticfoxie-versions/?do=findComment&comment=1223512 ... and an answer from NHTPG: https://msfn.org/board/topic/182993-360-extreme-explorer-arcticfoxie-versions/?do=findComment&comment=1223515 For your convenience , it might be best to use the Bookmarks feature on your browser ... Only throwing things on the wall and see if anything sticks but for what it costs I would try both: [Keyboard] kbdhid = "USB Keyboard",files.kbdhid, kbdhid USB = "USB Keyboard",files.kbdhid, kbdhid and: [Keyboard] STANDARD = "USB Keyboard",files.kbdhid, kbdhid kbdhid = "USB Keyboard",files.kbdhid, kbdhid USB = "USB Keyboard",files.kbdhid, kbdhid and see what happens, though I remember seeing a lot of people having issues with attempts to install 2K with only USB mouse and keyboard on more modern hardware. I don't think a "working for all" solution exists, maybe - if you *somehow* manage to workaround the error - some "fully unattended setup" you may get past the text mode and hve later in the GUI a fully working keyboard, but cannot really say. Search on the board for related posts by bluebolt and tomasz86, they did a lot of work attempting to workaround similar USB keyboard issues, maybe some of those posts can provide some inspiration. jaclaz1 point

The interesting bit is Supermium doesn't require extended kernel to run (ungoogled, just like Chrome/Chromium, does).1 point
-
Probably a more fair comparison would be to run them both on Vista, Ungoogled runs on Vista ex-kernel up to version 110-111 or so. Supermium was made for Vista initially, that's what I mean.1 point
-
Slower startup and heavier HDD usage. First and foremost, I disable everything GPU related, I don't watch videos in browsers.1 point
-
For starters, even if we leave aside the data collection thingy, it's simply heavier. Ungoogled version has more useful flags for user's convenience, highly customizable. Are you sure you ever tried it?1 point

I already did such kind of modifications in the past. As you surely know, the email client MailNews is actually only offered in the English language. Last year, I created a German language pack for MailNews from scratch. Additionaly, I had to add the German locale to MailNews's embedded calendar Lightning which is inside the omni.ja file and has to be modified separately. So, all a bit more complicated than usual. The effort was manageable in the end, however, translating is, as always, very time-consuming and a bit of hell. That said I am now able to switch between the English and German language even though the translation isn't complete yet. Too much other projects. And I do all translations manually and not automated to preserve the translation quality and to avoid generating syntax errors in the code. And yes, of course, separate extensions are easier to change and to test. Anyway! Have fun with your project!1 point

I'm up to version 2.14.305 as of now. (The Photon-like UI works fine but looks a little "alien" to my eyes. If you're using a Photon theme, though, it may look like it fits right in.) My guess is that 3.0 will be the first version that doesn't work - but they do have a "legacy" build of 3.0 that might. I'll keep you posted. Localization "should" work - the updated pdf.js looks for its localization files in ./web/locale and should ignore the built-in en-US locale (which I didn't bother to delete). But I haven't tested it. Of course this is all with Serpent, which now supports newer JS constructs than the last XP-compatible Seamonkey version did. The extension developer may have stopped at 2.3.200 because that's all his SeaMonkey version could handle - or it could be that he just got tired of the project; I don't know. That said, an extension is much simpler and easier to install than replacing the version built into omni.ja, so I may experiment with updating that extension, @AstroSkipper style1 point
-
There exists a project (now, seemingly, an "abandonware" ), last updated in June 2020, which offers "pdf.js" in the form of a "legacy" XUL extension: https://github.com/IsaacSchemm/pdf.js-seamonkey/releases/tag/v2.3.235 The release notes of the last version state that it's based on pdf.js-v2.3.200, so you got further than them ; the provided XPI file comes with l10n support , which was the main reason I had tested it back then in my "dirty" St52 profile ; after some days of testing, I bumped on some incompatibilities (the details of which evade me now ), so I ended up uninstalling it and reverting to the St52-embedded (English-only) "native pdf.js viewer" ...1 point

@Amigafever Thanks for your interest in my mod uBlock Origin Legacy! Unfortunately, these new assets.json files of the webextension uBlock Origin are no longer compatible with the legacy extension. To implement such features in uBlock Origin Legacy is very time-consuming due to deeper code changes. Don't forget I am not the developer of uBO which is gorhill together with his team! I am just a one-man band when it comes to fixing code or creating new things. All changes I did in terms of uBlock Origin Legacy are the result of own investigations of uBO's source code. Apart from that I don’t really like this new feature. One always has to weigh the effort and the benefit of such things. I have a lot of projects, and my time is unfortunately limited. i had some time to look at it his function is bugged up basicly he write it himself "// hacky but works: small number is command id, large is submenu (a pointer)"" that indicates he tryed to trick it and had to do "hacky solutions" he use a endless while true loop with ends escapes and continues, also goto´s,calls to the same functions in a function, and then seperators for his menu to fix how he called it "bad seperators" this ended up in a os specific solution you useally dont do that because the operating system can might change the relevant codes over time (such as 7 to 10, or 98 to nt) - something like this already happend in the past but the solution to this problem is possible as the author use multiple fixes all over around (probaly to compensate the problems) it is easy to add that fix - anyways it actually was a bit weird to find it out in win10 its just a flag, that was found like very quickly - but no in xp it didnt do that and gave very weird results even turned off xp was working ok while on 10 it did what it suppose to do - it was turned off as the code suppose to was changed to let me know if it works now! the .avif file (and heic) format dont work for me, neither on xp nor on 10 nor on 7 (both unchanged from the official download page and the changed version) https://www.file-upload.net/download-15277606/SumatraPDF_WINXP_3.5.2_3.zip.html https://www.mediafire.com/file/a4mtyf33ozs6q63/SumatraPDF_WINXP_3.5.2_3.zip/file1 point
