Glad it is working for you when using Linux. I was able to solve different hardware problems under Linux in the past which couldn't be fixed under Windows.

Though, I still find it strange that I had to use Normal password authenication method (and not OAuth2) to successfully connect my Gmail account to MailNews, but it works nonetheless. And yes, since I am a fan of old software, I agree with @modnar: MailNews is for me and a very awesome piece of email client. I even customized it with the help of this amazing guide by @InterLinked: https://w2k.phreaknet.org/mail/ IceDove is really good too, but I use MailNews so often.

Yep! I also tried IceDove months ago but MailNews is unbeatable in Windows XP and ideal for me, so to speak. It works with all my email services, can be wonderfully customised with extensions and supports OAuth 2.0. I can highly recommend it. And thanks again to @roytam1 for this port!

You're welcome! And thanks for contributing here! There is only one build of uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 available on MediaFire at a time. The previous builds of this version have been removed by me. It was always the release with the same version number only corrected. No need to give them different sub-version numbers. I did not test my release in the BNavigator browser. In general, I only change compatibility strings in the install.rdf of an xpi file if I really know it is really compatible. Have you already fully tested my release in BNavigator? In any case, I tested my release in Pale Moon 32.5.2, and it worked there, too. The maxVersion is not that important as the minVersion is but I can update it next time. I will take these changes into account in my upcoming release uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31. Thanks for the hint!

I personally try to maintain and keep up-to-date uBlock Origin Legacy within the scope of my abilities. Unfortunately, both, gorhill and JustOff stopped further development a long time ago. Thus, we can only hope that the compatibility of the important filter lists for uBOL will be maintained.

I tested this in my Windows XP VM by copying the VDI file to a partition on my SSD and starting it up with a Linux iso. From there trim worked after mounting the Windows disk.

Extract MPC-HC 2.1.2.7z and put the MPC-HC folder from the archive in e.g. your 'Downloads' folder and put 'mpc-hc.ini' in there as well. Drag all the content from LAVFilters-0.78.0-0.7z into the MPC-HC folder (replace existing files). Then start the program. If you want to use it with the XUL extension "Open With" (see this post) and you want to add its icon to the menu, extract the program icon with e.g. "IconsExtract", put it in e.g. 'C:\Windows\Icons' and assign it in the extension. The latest and probably the last good ported for XP should be 1.9.7 at max., MPC-HC version 1.9.18.46 doesn't even work with Vista. I haven't tried on XP, surely won't work due to LAV filters, also. Take note, that version 1.9.18.46 is at least two years old.

Tip: Use the extension "Open With" from the Classic Add-ons Archive. Then you can add the media player of your choice (and other useful commands) to the right-click menu (Screenshot). There is a mod of MPC-HC that I use now and it performs really well in XP. See this post from @mina7601. It uses youtube-dl to fetch the video, so if you have yt-dlp you have to rename it (must be in your PATH).

uBlock Origin 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0 - Special mod by @AstroSkipper uBlock Origin is presumably one of the most important extensions if not the most important one for users of Firefox and Chrome based browsers. Unfortunately, this extension is now only developed and maintained as a webextension. The extension uBlock Origin Legacy for our old Firefox-based browsers was only maintained and updated separately for a certain period of time. There have been no new updates since version 1.16.4.30 from 2021. Therefore, I am maintaining the latest beta version 1.16.4.31b2 here from time to time. For the last of my releases, it was completely sufficient to transfer filter lists and some files from the current webextension to the uBlock Origin Legacy extension. This has not been working properly for some time now. Here is a screenshot showing the undesired effects when the filter lists are updated in my last version uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.49.2: At this point, a big thank you again to @nicolaasjan for reporting this issue! Due to these apparent bugs, I decided to create a new, special version that contains all filter lists from the latest webextension and no longer causes problems when filter lists are (self-)updated. I identified and analysed the code responsible for the problem and was able to fix it. I have therefore created this new, special version of uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2 with all filter lists of the currently most recent webextension uBlock Origin 1.54.0. In this new mod, I have completely removed the old filter lists and added the new ones. Furthermore, I modified the code taken from the webextension to restore compatibility with the legacy extension. The version is now called uBlock Origin Legacy 1.16.4.31b2-1.54.0. The internal list of all preselected filter lists modified to get the real timestamps of filter lists again. minVersion for Pale Moon and New Moon lowered from 28.0 to 27.0. Missing, necessary code restored. Filtering and blocking of embedded ads in YouTube videos restored. New, important filter list filters-2024.txt added. All filter lists inside the xpi file updated. Finally, an important recommendation to get the new installation of uBlock Origin Legacy working properly and flawlessly. After uninstalling the previous version (yes, the old version should be uninstalled ), delete all remnants via about:config and in your profile folder! The remnants of previous versions of uBlock Origin can be easily removed by the extension eCleaner. And in your profile folder, there is a file in the subfolder extension-data called ublock0.sqlite which has to be removed manually in any case. Delete the browser cache, too! If doing so, the updating of the filter lists will work like a charm after installing the new version. All users who have important, individual settings or rules should backup them before cleaning their profile folder. On the dashboard page, there is an item called "Back up to file"" to save the user's settings via uBlock itself. If you only want to backup your custom filters, go to the tab "My filters" and export them to a file! In any case, we have from now on an uBlock Origin extension for our beloved legacy browsers with the most recent filter lists which are normally provided only in the webextension of uBlock Origin. Big recommendation for Teamspeak 2, if it's for voice chat between Windows PCs of all ages. Despite being super old, Teamspeak 2 works even on Windows 10, as well as good old Windows 98. The system requirements are ridiculously low. The codecs are ridiculously outdated (some of them convert your voice to mysterious art!), but they're efficent. I'm sorry, but this can not be taken serious in 2023 year. The first CPU with SSE2 was released in year 2000. That's more then 22 years ago. Let those people go and upgrade to something more modern. Windows XP works so much better on 4-core systems. Now we have even 8 core Ryzen work with XP. There is no excuses left for staying on none SSE2 system now. Go and upgrade to at least Core2Duo or Athlon64X2 - they are dirt cheap now. I repeat there is no excuses to seat on, like Pentium 3 or Athlon XP and demand everyone attention. Those systems are completely obsolete, they serve people well for 2 decades, now live them alone and upgrade! It is more than serious. And you do not have to understand that, either. There are users who are, for whatever reason, still interested in antimalware programmes targeting Windows XP on old hardware, whose CPU does not have more than the SSE instruction set. And it doesn't matter why. In any case, these computers still exist. For example, one of my computers is equipped with an AMD Athlon XP 3200+ Thoroughbred (Model 8). You could change the background of the whole page to black (Format -> Background), then change the font colour to white. Or if you don't want the whole page to be black, you could create a text box, double click the borders to get to the format settings, and set that colour to black.

I read your first post again and noticed some misunderstandings. The extension Custom Buttons, which I uploaded here, is required for installing custom buttons, but itself cannot toogle anything. For toggling a Boolean variable, you need to install one of my custom buttons Toggle CSP or Toggle media.autoplay.enabled and have to modify its code which you already seem to have done such as described in this post: And, it definitely works. I know that because I've created and tested these custom buttons. Just to clarify, you won't find any documents about these custom buttons even if the old custom buttons forum was still alive. These buttons never existed before. I created them, saved them as an XML file and uploaded them for my readers. And now, you would appreciate additional code for an immediate, automatical restart of Serpent 52 after toggling the variable browser.tabs.remote.force-enable using my custom button. You need this restart to apply the toggled setting in terms of the multiprocess mode. I checked my browsers referring to the pref browser.tabs.remote.force-enable. In New Moon 28, it is locked. Therefore, it can't be toggled there. In Serpent 52, Serpent 55 and Firefox 52.9.0 ESR, this pref doesn't exist at all. So, I have to ask you in which browser you actually want to toggle this pref. Or, did you create this pref yourself in Serpent or Firefox? Anyway! I do have a solution to implement minimal code for an immediate, automatical restart of New Moon or Pale Moon and a bit more code in the case of Firefox or Serpent (Basilisk) after toggling a Boolean pref. But first, I need an answer and some more detailed information about your configuration (browser, OS). Also I should mention that I don't use multi-process mode, and my system is Windows XP Professionaö SP3 + POSReady 32Bit with a single-core CPU. At the moment, I can test it only on this machine. Okay, here we have an old 256 MB USB stick. It's slightly bigger than a finger. Of course there was a driver CD with it, when it was new. That was required to get the thing to operate under Windows 98, which didn't have a generic USB driver like later Windows versions. Surely we have genereric USB drivers now for Windows 95 and Windows 98. For whatever reason, I have trouble with them on Windows 98 First Edition and on Windows 95. It's different on Windows 98 SE, where the NUSB-driver does recognise every USB device. Does anyone here around the globe have the exact same USB stick with the original driver CD? Probably it's hard to track the name of the USB stick down. The chip on the mainboard, which was manufactured by Phison, didn't give me more information out of the internet. If just someone would have the same USB stick with more information or a driver CD, that would be fantastic...

More specifications please! About your computer, where you want to install Linux on and about your experience level on the command line. Does a shell disgusts you or does it make you feel powerful? The different Linux systems (called distributions) have different philosophies. Although they behave the same in their core, their user interface look quite different from each other. I use Salix, a little system, running well on a weak netbook from 2007 with 800 MHz. But it's a niche Linux system (Slackware-based), meaning that there are less programs available for it and you have to dig deeper for manuals sometimes. The 32-Bit software is getting a bit old, but still nothing too dramatic. It's not the most user friendly, but it's very stable. My best installation on a little newer netbook is like 4 years old and it's very stable, which is characteristic for Slackware-based Linux systems. They might lack the absolute newest software though. Linux Mint is quite popular. I think people without Linux experience so far might succeed more quickly with Linux Mint, as it's easier to use.

I don't expect the Australian couple that runs the site to change anything there. Vistaserv has the same idea like Neocities and Geocities.
