  1. Update notification! Panda Free Antivirus has been updated and is now of version 22.01.01. Furthermore, I added the link to @UCyborg's post Got Panda running on XP x64 and @VistaLover's provided, alternatve link for the offline installer to my article. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  3. Thanks! Of course, I have known all this for a long time. Unfortunately, this is a matter of interpretation and definition. Mebibyte (MiB) did not exist in the past. And many use MB as what MiB is now. Explorer, Total Commander and myself use the following old designation MB. The following applies: 1024 B = 1 KB. 1024 KB = 1 MB. 93181864 B = 93181864 : 1024^2 MB ≈ 88.87 MB. That's what is MiB nowadays. The designation MiB emphasises the binary character of the unit and MB is now to be given only a decimal character. So, I agree with you, the Opera download manager on my Android tablet uses the decimal character of MB (1 MB = 1000 KB) and has, in itself, done nothing wrong. I personally prefer to stay with my old designation MB, which is always to be understood in a binary context (1 MB = 1024 KB). Thus, I am definitely not imprecise what of course is to be expected in science but simply old school. Best regards, AstroSkipper

  5. TBH, I do not use 10 years old, unsupported browsers at all. And that wouldn't make sense either , at least as long there are more recent ones which is the case under Windows XP. Your statement was: I replied: New Moon 28 is an old, legacy browser but still updated, thanks to @roytam1. And there is no problem to access your linked website https://web.archive.org/web/20140701122330/http://lights.helloenjoy.com/. As I already stated, it is a problem of defining what an old web browser is. So, if I take you literally, then your statement is not correct. The website web.archive.org works in old browsers to view archived web sites. The proof is here: Kind regards, AstroSkipper

  7. All archived websites, I wanted to access via web.archive.org were properly displayed in New Moon 28 for the last years. Some weeks ago, when I had to access such websites on web.archive.org, there were definitely no problems I could have noticed. But I'll test your link when I am at my desktop computer again. At the moment, I am surfing on my Android tablet.

  10. Download links now included in first post of this thread. Note that even though 360Chrome remains my primary browser even on my Win10 computers, I still use the XP skin. Users that create their own skins or revert to original Chinese skins are of course welcome to do so, it is YOUR computer - it should be disclosed when asking for assistance if your version has been modified.

  11. Interesting - I have been fixing poor Avast implementation of their filter driver (aswSnx) and its interaction with Diskeeper in my XP and looks like that altitude and load order combination wasn't optimal. I have now (finally) looked at Win7 32bit (thinpc) implementation and replicated the same in XP and set altitudes to completely factory values with load orders fixed and Serpent 52.9 doesn't crash anymore. Jolly good. :-)

  12. ... Since we all know by now that you are a mathematician , some additional attention to detail should be exercised (because mathematics, like physics and chemistry, is an "exact" science); what I did post was: Notice the unit I used! https://tecadmin.net/difference-between-megabyte-megabit-and-mebibyte/ So, 93,181,864 B ≈ 88.86515 MiB ≈ 93.1819 MB It might be, in the end, that your Android tablet was correct , reporting a file size of ≈ 93 MB (if MB was taken at its exact, scientific, value) ; actually, I think Microsoft (and, possibly, other vendors) are mistakenly using MB instead of MiB; Windows Explorer is indeed calculating file sizes in binary prefixes, but it displays the units used in their decimal prefixes; MediaInfo, which can be used on all sorts of files, not just "media" ones, displays file sizes explicitly in MiB: Windows Explorer's Context Menu: MediaInfo (simple) Context Menu: Hope I helped ! Best regards.

  13. note : the above script works with sites that use discource forum software. it "tells" those sites that the browser has support for it. support for css aspect-ratio can be enabled with the "Experimental Web Platform features" chrome flag. somehow the discource sites don't see the support enabled by the chrome flag. test : https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/CSS/aspect-ratio

  17. To be more precise 93181864 B corresponds to 88.8652 MB ≈ 88.87 MB ≈ 88.9 MB. So, @VistaLover, @Saxon and @Dixel are definitely right. In general, rounded values are not really suitable when it comes to comparing files. It is better to take the value in bytes (B).

  34. I tried Supermium, finally, well it's quite good, but not portable and writes BrowserMetrics info collecting. Open it with Hex, you will see. You know what, you're right! I'll stick to the ported Opera 97 and Ungoogled 111, apply the anti webp-crap patch to decrapify them, certainly. If you use Opera, don't forget to apply the patch against collecting info-spying, made by @D.Draker. https://msfn.org/board/topic/184249-chrome-110-based-opera-i-ported-it-to-vista/?do=findComment&comment=1238878

  35. Why do you address this question to me ? After reading the latest developments, confirmed by multiple users (now including me) about the behaviour of this browser, I made a decision to never use it again, what's so hard to understand ? EDIT: Thank you.

  36. You undeservedly accused @Dave-H of "racism", and I accuse you because you lack respect for the English language, how's that ? You don't know the difference between "your" and "you're" and I'm insulted. You have no respect for His Majesty ! For this in most places, including USA, your comment would promptly trigger a security escort out of the door. If you're lucky, maybe paid or unpaid leave until the incident is investigated. A detailed telemetry analysis would be more productive, only if you prove us wrong. No, I've changed my mind. No "analysis" will make me use this browser again.
    1 point
  37. No. You don't know the scene, obviously. What for ? Please tell us. By "your" you meant Dave's ? Well DAVE-H is always welcome in France, I will find him avery good job personally ! I can assure you - he will not be "investigated" here, under my personal protection.
    1 point
  38. Is this a joke, right ? I don't see any "racist" commentaries in @Dave-H's speech, what he meant is we know for sure because the browser and the starter app (both) were made by the Chinese and/or Russians, no other countries involved. I'd even say DAVE-H is very tolerant, perhaps too tolerant sometimes. And we are overloaded and tired of tolerance, in my opinion. And there were lots of "detailed reports" over the years with this browser, including IPs.
    1 point
  39. If I was @Dave-H or @Tripredacus, I'd at least put a warning in the title . But I'm neither . How to put it politely and not to offend some sensitive folks ? Well, smth like : Beware, this browser has suspicious behaviour, confirmed by multiple users and the most advanced AV with AI. And who the hell knows what else is going on inside that enormous amounts of RAM this browser uses ? @AstroSkipper , remember the old topic where we made several screenshots and compared to an ordinary Chrome version ? It was like 10x times more , very weird.
    1 point
  40. What's there so hard to understand ? You're trying to catch it with your eyes or simple software that is not meant for such tasks, while our dear @AstroSkipper , whom I never doubt, is using a modern piece of software and it is based on artificial intelligence. 360Chrome browser performs spinning (scanning) of any connected HDD/USB/SSD disks and/or accesses (scans) them ! Why ? We assume to track your info!, and these actions WiseVector StopX (clever software) tries to intercept and ends in multiple BSOD. Will you still use this browser after you know this, is up to you !
    1 point
  41. You do not have to repeat anything to me. Try WiseVector StopX yourself or leave it! If you want to know which actions and accesses are performed by the 360Chrome browsers, you have to check and analyze it yourself.
    1 point
  42. Thank you for the explanations! I also confirm this, now I tried several different HDD enclosures ! That would perfectly explain why others didn't notice. I have no AV at all. But my firewall screams with "incoming traffic detected".

  43. No , it's not possible . Why ? Because it uses ffmpeg that is not supported on XP . The last working version off ffmpeg is 7 or so years old , it will be glitchy as hell with their newer videos , I've managed to port a version from 2020 to Vista and it works fine , but not for XP. So I'm afraid @j7n is out of luck with this one.

  44. My DL speeds from my Dutch IP are somewhat fine . It starts with 1.5Mbps and then (after approx. 50%) drops to 512Kib/s . Suffice to say , I have a fully operational 1 Gigabit internet link , so definitely not limited by my ISP. I shall not name the cool tool I use , youtube staff will read this and block it . Though , I can share via PM with certain friends and @win32. I do not have a YT account , I don't care about likes and comments . Though, I'm definitely against their commie censorship. P.S. My neighbour had an account , but now he just can't login because they demand his mobile phone , and not just a phone , they demand his Dutch phone in his precise location , yes they said "we need your phone from the place you created your account " ! Of course , 4k and even 1080p HQ vids are choppy as hell at such terrible speeds if watched in a browser.
