Because Chromium isn't designed for very old hardware and very old OS. Though to be fair, the browser New Moon is forked from isn't either, MCP is just slow at advancing it. But in other cases, even few years old Chromium versions run circles around all legacy Mozilla forks combined, as far as average raw performance is concerned.2 points

Update notification! Both versions of my Root Certificate and Revoked Certificate Updater for offline use have been updated and are now of 08/22/2023. You can find them in the section 11.2.4. Sorry for the delayed response, for me onlyfans.com works fine in 360Chrome, but only if I don't use the proxy connection. I don't use it anyway unless I have to, as it slows things down considerably. It's mainly used with Internet Explorer and my e-mail client, which uses the IE engine to display messages.2 points

Although a little off-topic, the joke of the whole story is that OnlyFans runs much faster and better in New Moon 28 than in 360Chrome on my old Windows XP computer. And I mean that natively without ProxHTTPSProxy.1 point
-
I can't comment on New Moon, but OnlyFans works fine for me in 360Chrome with the proxy switched off in the browser, and with it switched on now as well, although it takes longer to load. As discussed before, onlyfans.com* has to be added to the [SSL Pass-Thru] section in the proxy config.ini, otherwise it doesn't work, but there seems to be no intrinsic problem with working through the proxy.1 point

The CF-28 is fanless and supports Win9x 3D Acceleration (i8xx series GPU). The closest one to the CF-28, that I know of, is the CF-18. But some come with i915 (no Win9x 3D acceleration) and others with i8xx (Win9x 3D acceleration compatible). You have to be careful when buying one. The issue is that you don't often (if ever) find one over 1.2Ghz. Some, with the i8xx, come between 800Mhz and 1.2Ghz. I have seen one, with the i815, advertised at 1.6Ghz; but I think they must have made a typo, or something. It was the only one I've ever seen. Both the CF-18 and CF-28 come with external VGA ports. Most older Toughbook/Toughpads do. One thing that the CF-18 does not have, is a parallel port (the CF-28 does). Both have a serial port. I should point out that the CF-28 is Pentium III, and the top CPU speed is 1Ghz (some are slower). The CF-18 is Pentium-M. I haven't done any benchmarks, but an 800Mhz Pentium-M might out perform a 1Ghz Pentium-III. Also, the CF-28 tops out at 512Mb of ram. The CF-18 at 1.5Gb. The CF-28 is also running with USB1.1, and the CF-18 is at USB2.0. There is a part number, on the bottom of these ToughBooks, that may help determine what GPU the laptop has. If you are looking on Ebay, some seller might not know how to find out what the GPU model is. So there is a chance, if they provide that model number (pictures), that you can find out yourself; provided they are selling you the one in the picture. You've gotta watch out, when some one is selling more than one. I've learned that the hard way, when buying thin clients.1 point

I'm sure it's a good decision, we'll see how far it will help. I remember it all went downhill very quickly after 110 (which can be ported to windows 7 and Vista). I think things will get real ugly after or even in 120. I don't want this to be a prediction, there are people who are obviously not that happy when my predictions become true. By that time, I hope you will make a new topic about the "Future of Chrome on Windows 10".1 point

Running RT'S uxp based browsers like NewMoon 28 or Serpent 55 on ME or 98: I think I already mentioned "Second chance exception 0x406D1388 (Thread was named) occurred in "MOZJS.DLL" at address ..." somewhere here in this forum. Older versions couldn't have this module, so it happened in Xul.dll here. The corresponding API is RaiseException. Raise Exception is supported by Kernel32, but it fails in this case somehow. The best workaround I found is to replace this API by GetLastError with a hex-editor. There is also no consequential error when closing the program. Note that Serpent 55 requires ordinal 327 [Oleaut32], too, otherwise you get the known xpcom message on start. You can start Serpent 55 with the help of "APIlog". On Kex prompt the message appears "Xul is linked to missing Oleaut32.dll:327". Confirm with yes. On my main machine I've the ordinal functioning in the Kstub.ini, so there is no need to use Apilog here. I set the exe to XPSP3 and maked them portable using RT'S portable-loader. I'm not quite sure about the exact requirements yet. My KernelEx is expanded by jumpers Kexvista module, too. I recommend the program settings mentioned on the first page, like AzureContentBackend Skia. Have fun!1 point

jaclaz, I'm afraid I have to disagree about the term "generic", some time ago I was asked a specific question, I clearly predicted it about the memory function. Not just , "hey, guys, I know Chrome will soon not work". I think you're confusing me with someone else. Regards, Dixel.1 point

Good to know! But for how long? From what I observe, the development (of adding bloat) is at the speed of light lately. Opera added AI since 101, and so on.1 point
-
I already predicted it would have happened (link), I'm not surprised, even though folks wrote their chrome still worked on the old Win 10 at that time. So looks like now 1809 is the new bare minimum, link. And like I said before. the whole memory function would have to be replaced to be able to run on such old versions, link. This would explain the delays with the Chinese forks of Chrome for Win 7. Each new release will be harder and harder to port, so build from scratch is the only method left. As you all see, I could be the new clairvoyant, in addition to @D.Draker, I think I don't even have to mention, @jaclaz's half-functional (maintenance mode?) crystal ball is already mine.1 point

Ooooh, this is some good progress you made right there. Keep it up.1 point

We have some news: Windows Update V4 now has many more updates for Windows 9x systems, Windows Update v3 has much more inventories than before and Windows Update v2 has been restored.1 point

OK, I'll hang on for the moment then! What I have now works extremely well, and has done for several years now, and I've never had any problems with its speed of performance. If a newer version is more secure and/or has greater capabilities, I would of course be looking to update. Cheers, Dave.1 point

So is there any reason for me to use this over the version of ProxHTTPSProxyMII that I'm already using?1 point
-
Just to be as correct as possible the quoted above is what I said. In general, the rule "the more recent the better" does not always apply, of course.. Otherwise, I would certainly no longer have a 23-year-old computer. Anyway! Thanks for your clarification! Thanks! Wishes are always a good thing.1 point
-
First of all, many thanks for your reply and detailed information! There are some sites which can't be processed with the current ProxyMII based on OpenSSL 3.0.5 & Cryptography 3.4.8. But the used browser can do it. ProxyMII with a more recent version of OpenSSL and Cryptography might work with them. As far as ProxyMII is concerned, I think the more recent the better. I don't know if I understood you correctly. Can you create a new version of ProxyMII with OpenSSL 3.1.2 and Cryptography 40.0.2 2023-04-18 for Windows XP systems that have the SSE2 instruction set, and maybe upload it? SSE2 is of course not a feature of Windows XP but the processor used. Or are you unable to compile such a version because your computer lacks of the SSE2 instruction set? Unfortunately, I could not understand that from what you said. Sorry, i'm not creator. All honors belong to @Dibya - Python 3.7 for XP and @whenever (from www.prxbx.com) - ProxHTTPSProxyMII: Reloaded I just put it together. Honour to whom honour is due. Technically speaking, you are also a creator. You created the ProxyMII version with OpenSSL 3.0.5 & Cryptography 3.4.8. Kind regards, AstroSkipper1 point
-
Hello, @cmalex! How are you? I hope in any case you are well and, above all, healthy and unharmed in these still difficult times. As you know, you compiled the great programme ProxyMII, dated from 2022-07-17, based on OpenSSL 3.0.5, dated from 2022-07-05, and Cryptography 3.4.8, dated from 2021-08-24. That was a year ago. OpenSSL is now available in version 3.1.2 and Cryptography in version 41.0.3, both dated from 2023-08-01. In terms of Cryptography, there was a big version bump after 3.4.8 directly to 35.0.0. Link: https://github.com/pyca/cryptography/tags?after=37.0.0 Do you know if these versions are still compatible with Windows XP? If not, which are the last XP-compatible versions? Would it make sense to update ProxyMII in terms of OpenSSL and Cryptography for the use under Windows XP, especially to support more modern ciphers? TBH, who else could assess this better than you, the creator of ProxyMII? Or, have you perhaps already updated ProxyMII? Anyway! What do you think about all that? Greetings from Germany, AstroSkipper1 point

Thanks yes, that indeed fixes it. I wouldn't use it in that mode normally of course as it slows everything down considerably.1 point

You didn't answer my indirect question. Your video is not helpful at all. Mypal 68 closes when uBlock Origin is installed. And now? Do you run Mypal 68 in single-process mode? This is the only stable mode. Anyway! Running Mypal 68 under Windows 11 is not a good idea and actually nonsense. Try this browser on a computer with Windows XP or Vista! More recent OSes do not need this browser. Here is a quotation from @feodor2's GitHub page: Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point
-
Hi @dimo70! Actually, Mypal 68 is a browser targeting old operation systems. My OS is Windows XP Professional 32-Bit, and Mypal 68 runs perfectly here. I don't know why you want to run this browser under Windows 11. There, you can use much more recent browsers.1 point

No problem here in the third pre-release of Mypal 68.13.0. I use uBlock Origin 1.49.2, and it works without any problems. And from now on, even without changing the minversion in the file manifest.json. Thanks to @feodor2! Here is a screenshot: I assume either your installation or your profile is faulty or misconfigured. And be aware of possible incompatibilities to other extensions or scripts! I still didn't observe such incompatibilities until now, though, but they are possible, of course.1 point

@feodor2 Do you have any idea why the legacy extension loaders don't work properly in Mypal 68.13.0? How far along is the development at the moment regarding everything that concerns extensions? E.g. the update function of extensions and so on?1 point

Lemme join. Modded or not, they simply can't add support for DX10/DX11 to XP. Now forget about XP. Try this Vista driver, we'll start from the older (known to be good) ones. Official nvidia website drivers are usually crap. (horrible throttling, etc.). You would need to add the device ID for yout card. Do you know how to do it ? Plenty of tutorials. Here is the link: http://download.windowsupdate.com/d/msdownload/update/driver/drvs/2015/03/20722154_16262aedb808c3093b31a0c84d31d7625e57b39b.cab Driver only, does'nt bundle Physx or Audio Driver, can add them from another one. If your encounter problems - uninstall in safe mode. Before you proceed - clean the old crap with DDU in safe mode.1 point

In the meantime, I tried this legacy, bootstrapped version of Tab Mix Plus. But there are issues when I install the legacy extension loaders in Mypal 68.13.0. When using UserChromeJS, Tab Mix Plus can't be installed even if I change the minversion of Tab Mix Plus v1.0.0-pre.15 from 78 to 68. When using bootstrapLoader.xpi, I am able to install Tab Mix Plus v1.0.0-pre.15, but after restarting the browser, all installed extensions disappear in the Add-ons Manager. Therefore, no settings of the installed extensions via the Add-ons Manager are possible anymore although the extensions are still installed and seem to be working in Mypal. I think both legacy extension loaders are not really compatible with Mypal 68.13.0 at the moment. Mypal 68 is based on Firefox but also different and still in development. Especially everything related to extensions is still incomplete. All tests have been done under the following conditions: A clean, new installation of the second pre-release of Mypal 68.13.0. A clean, new profile without any other extensions installed. Mypal has been configured to be working in single-process mode. Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point
