OK, I'll hang on for the moment then! What I have now works extremely well, and has done for several years now, and I've never had any problems with its speed of performance. If a newer version is more secure and/or has greater capabilities, I would of course be looking to update. Cheers, Dave.4 points

So is there any reason for me to use this over the version of ProxHTTPSProxyMII that I'm already using?3 points

It depends on what you consider old. I perfectly remember those limited crappy Seagate (in cheap-n-ugly plastic boxes) external storage units with that precise limit. Made somewhere in 2015 (2014?). Almost a decade ago. It tried to put a 8TB HDD (somewhere in 2018) into that box, instead of the unsurprisingly failed Seagate crap, and it showed as 5TB only. Maybe, just maybe the OP was granted with that cheap chip they used in the crappy Seagate?2 points

Thats expected it wont work. with Windows 8 storport. During this GenAHCI journey I have checked storport 2003 vs 8 a lot. Many structures were changed, same with various functions. Thats why I tried to use custom one and redirect much as possible in GenAHCI. Another idea will be to extend storpor8, but I have not started with this yet because we can maybe start from patched 2003 storport source and extend it to like 8.1 / 10. But thats currently too much work and I don't have currently time for it.2 points

Hello to all interested users of ProxHTTPSProxy and a special hello to @cmalex! I have tested the brand new release of ProxyMII dated from 13.08.2023 for some days. And I am thrilled. It runs like clockwork. I have tested ProxyMII 230813 together with the browsers Internet Explorer 8, New Moon 28, Iceape and 360ChromePortable 13.5.1030 rebuild 7. So far no problems, on the contrary, the proxy is fast and runs great with my old SSE2 processor. FYI, @cmalex updated ProxyMII in terms of OpenSSL from 3.0.5 to 3.1.2 and Cryptography from 3.4.8 to 40.0.2 some days ago. However, this version now requires at least a processor with SSE2 instruction set and higher. More to come soon. In any case, a big thank you to @cmalex!2 points

Hello @Dave-H! I am currently testing this out. It is clear that a more up-to-date version of OpenSSL and Cryptography will almost certainly be accompanied by bug fixes or optimisations. In my tests so far, the proxy works great and fast. I'm already in the process of integrating it into my package. At the moment, however, there is no compelling need to change. ProxyMII as such is of course not as comfortable to use. When you call it up, it is not automatically entered in the system proxy settings of IE. All has to be done manually. The handling of the ProxyMII standalone version is described in detail in the section 8 and following of my main article.1 point

What storport version have you used? You will probably need patched Windows 7 one that supports it. Let me know how it goes with this full package. Otherwise I have no idea where could be issue. GenAHCI 6.3.0.1 GenAHCI is storage driver replacement for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8.0 and their Server equivalents based on official Windows 8.1 StorAHCI source code sample This patched source code is based on previously developed patch for Windows 8.0 source code sample by Kai Schtrom https://sourceforge.net/projects/storahci-for-windows-2003/ Even it looks like Windows 8.0 to 8.1 is small step, driver code was changed on many places. Almost everything was patched to be compatible with Windows XP and driver can be succesfully installed or integrated into Windows Setup https://github.com/GeorgeK1ng/GenAHCI1 point

You don't need to extract it! Just place it there. Clear instructions are here.1 point

First and foremost, no such address in any of that files inside that zip folder! Second, even if consider your theory, the error page page is not even activated at the moment. The browser is at an empty page, which is not "errorpage.zip". Third, I don't see such connection.1 point

Russian repack which is the base of this browser, didn't have that module. But perhaps I missed something and you made it from scratch? I just don't know, sorry. Dixel's 1030 build didn't have that module, I don't even know what you're talking about. Dixel's build also has all search engines and redirects removed from chrome.dll.1 point

I'm not sure why you react this way, I was just trying to help Dave by answering his question! I don't even use this browser for several years, but I still have a working version of it. If @Dave-H wants it, I can share it, no problem, I'll send it to any junk/temp mail, if Dave gives me one, I don't ask/want/need Dave's real/good email. I just don't have any sharing website accounts to upload it.1 point

Just a hint, probably would be better to take it from the other release by @Humming Owl, it should be in English.1 point

Well, I really don't know whether it counts or not, but the BBC wrote an article 7 days ago about the increasing number of accidental phone calls to the police now that Android has released a new feature in which if you press the power button 5 times it will send an emergency alert to your emergency contacts and will also call the police for you. https://www.bbc.com/news/technology-65962942 The article has a picture at the very beginning which depicts a police station with operators monitoring incoming calls and on the computer you can clearly see the Windows XP start button with the classic Luna theme: Of course, although the article was released as little as 7 days ago, we don't know whether the picture used is a stock photo or if it's a recent one and they're still using XP to run legacy stable software, this is why I said "I don't know if it counts" at the very beginning.1 point

LOL! We used to have two types of 'round pin' plugs when I was a kid, 5A ones for lower rated stuff, and 15A ones for heavy stuff, the latter were really big and heavy! I think the idea behind the present 1960s replacement 'square pin' plugs (the pins aren't actually square of course, but that's what they were called!) was that they were powerful enough but light enough not to need two different types. They were fine for the heavy stuff like electric fires, but not too big and heavy to use for the lighter stuff like table lamps. Whether they got the compromise right is a matter of opinion of course! The other plus point was that we got rid of reversible two pin plugs and sockets, which could be dangerous with the 'live chassis' TVs and radios which were still around at the time! I don't mind the European standard ones, but the American standard 'low current' plugs and sockets always seem really flimsy to me! Anyway, this is completely off-topic!1 point

I'm not asking you to change them of course, but I've always wondered why, if you are German, that you put the dates in your posts in American format, not European format? The actual file names, I'm pleased to say, are the 'correct' way around!1 point
