  1. Ten pages of rubbish! And I was the one who started it all. Poor legacyfan has left the forum twice during this topic, but the young fellow has a monkey on his back. 🐒 Happy Mental Health Awareness Month! ðŸĪŠ

  2. Legacy Windows really does attract the weirdest bunch, huh? Edit: Somehow this song came into my mind:

  3. New build of post-deprecated Serpent/moebius for XP! * Notice: This repo will not be built on regular schedule, and changes are experimental as usual. ** Current moebius patch level should be on par with 52.9, but some security patches can not be applied/ported due to source milestone differences between versions. Test binary: Win32 http://o.rthost.win/basilisk/basilisk55-win32-git-20230527-18f929f60-xpmod.7z Win64 http://o.rthost.win/basilisk/basilisk55-win64-git-20230527-18f929f60-xpmod.7z repo: https://github.com/roytam1/basilisk55 Repo changes: - import from UXP: Issue #2250 - Part 1: Return early if the element being tested for is likely an ancestor and does not have an assigned slot (1c2dd6ae) (60925e43f) - import from UXP: Issue #2250 - Part 2: Ignore the ancestor filter assertion if rule matching is restricted or if the current element is under a shadow host (3d917c99) (3f426bfd7) - import from UXP: Issue #1592 - Follow-up: Ensure topmost scope marker is cleaned up (adaf6c32) (0254e5384) - import from UXP: Issue #2252 - Prevent crash when attempting to load a script with execution disallowed. This issue is due to the ExecutionContext added in Issue #1691 not handling GetScript() in a context where script execution is not allowed. This expressed itself in crashes when playing MP4s with the NoScript extension installed and enabled. (106de86d) (18f929f60)

  7. Oh, leaving the forum! Will both of you be selling your accounts then? Definitely a good idea to profit from this. Don't want your hard work of tireless upvoting of every word each of you write to die in vain.

  8. Thanks for your prompt reply and further actions ; it is rather unfortunate that "youtube-dl.exe", in contrast to "yt-dlp_x86.exe", doesn't provide any indication at all, when invoked in verbose ([debug]) mode, of the code snapshot it's been built from ... ... If I'm counting right , on top of yt-dl's master branch, your yt-dl compiles also include PRs #29318, #29581, #29593, #30998 , plus enabling of Lazy Extractors; am I missing anything else? ... Not system wide, i.e. in %PATH%; I usually place ffmpeg.exe+ffprobe.exe adjacent to youtube-dl.exe or specify their specific directory via the " --ffmpeg-location" command line (or config) option: [debug] System config: [] [debug] User config: [] [debug] Custom config: [] [debug] Command-line args: ['--ffmpeg-location', '.\\FFmpeg', '--external-downloader-args', '-v 8 -stats', '-v'] [debug] Encodings: locale cp1253, fs mbcs, out cp737, pref cp1253 [debug] youtube-dl version 2023.05.25.19419 (single file build) [debug] Python 3.4.4 (CPython x86 32bit) - Windows-Vista-6.0.6003-SP2 - OpenSSL 1.0.2d 9 Jul 2015 [debug] exe versions: ffmpeg n6.1-dev-804-N-110688-g1aeefc4, ffprobe n6.1-dev-804-N-110688-g1aeefc4, phantomjs 2.1.1, rtmpdump 2.4 [debug] Proxy map: {} Usage: youtube-dl [OPTIONS] URL [URL...]

  10. Ok, I'll call you "sir" next time. And now, it's my turn to say the same: weren't you also blocking me? And btw, it's the third time I block you, not the 64 millionth time. And as for announcements, I only did it once, and it's in 1 topic only. Yeah well, sorry, I already know this, but I was very tired at that time I wrote that post, so I rushed it and didn't get to check my post's grammar quickly, but, you get the point. @Vistapocalypse Sorry for flooding your topic with this. That wasn't my intention.

  17. NT 5.x is the best series of the Windows NT line ever. It was so simple but also super stable and just does the work for me. I used XP until mid 2017 as main, and it was for the most part a very pleasant eXPerience. The old taskbar and explorer interface with deskbands and quicklaunch is just a dream for productive work. To this day my workflow works best with the explorer from XP/2003. It also runs usable on hardware starting from Pentium III to the well beloved and very fast Sandy/Ivy Bridge Âĩarch. Even on Haswell with some tweaking. The only real downside is the aging and very bad security architecture/concept and the limited modern hardware support. If 3rd party software and hardware vendors still support NT 5 I would likely use it to this day as main.

  20. I just really dislike OSs that came out after 7, so I use it myself and try my best to help others stay on 7 as long as possible. This motherboard has Intel I225-V network controllers, so the drivers I uploaded should install, maybe there are some updates missing. "PCI Simple Communication" is "Intel Management Engine Interface", it does not affect anything, so you can not install it. Also, when I installed 7 on a computer with i5 12400 I couldn't find a driver for Intel Serial IO GPIO Host Controller, but that doesn't affect it either. But you can remove them by installing stubs. And there was also an ACPI Wake Alarm Driver on that computer. Here is another archive with all these drivers. https://mega.nz/file/fj5nhZKb#HU9AhQ0WphxPoPsacVdbpgmonv9J1w1XLsk5JpOs1Wo

  21. Thank you for your kind words! TBH, I don't believe to be always objective. I am a human individual and primarily shaped by my own subjective experiences. And because of my advanced age, I inevitably made a lot of them. I try to maintain a certain objectivity, but as long as it is not scientific in nature, I am bound to fail. What do you exactly mean with some sort of diagnosis?

  22. Welcome AstroSkipper! Your erstwhile absence from this topic was quite conspicuous to me. Although I don’t always agree with your opinions and don’t think you are as objective as you would like to believe, I appreciate your drive in taking charge of the security software discussion in the XP forum. You’re the best we’ve got! Still, I can’t help wondering if you have some sort of diagnosis. Happy Mental Health Awareness Month!

I'm not your "bro", please stop confusing me with the neighbours from your village. Hey, weren't you blocking me for the 64 millionth time? You made a gazillion of announcements in each and every topic, also wrote an article on Reddit/Twitter/Instagram about that.

  28. Ha ha ha, i'm completely laughing so hard at reading this. What kind of thinking is this? I also wrote I will leave the forum? No, I will not leave the forum, even if i get a lot of hostility, and legacyfan has already confirmed twice here he won't leave the forum. I and will still continue to stay on this forum. And also, selling my and legacyfan's account??? No, I and legacyfan are not that stupid, bro. We would never sell our accounts at all! But I don't want to start an argument for this, so here's what I will suggest for you: Don't touch me and my poor friend legacyfan (I'm not saying that we are special, we are members like anyone else), and I recommend thinking at least thrice before writing such statements. Thanks! Sorry everyone if I sounded like ranting in this post, and sorry if everyone didn't expect my reply, but I had to write it, sorry.

  29. What else did you expect starting such a thread in a non-technical subforum? Everything that is possible is posted here. This thread in this non-technical subforum has absolutely nothing to do with Legacy Windows. This is where especially all the social media and lollipop posters get attracted at their finest and nothing else. IMHO, this has nothing to do with the original idea of MSFN. Spoken for me only, I am in general technically interested when surfing MSFN. That's why you find me here very rarely. And that's why I became a member of the MSFN Forum in 2010.

  30. It's hard to tell, write the IDs of non installed devices, maybe there will be drivers for them. Or write the name of the motherboard so I can find what controllers are there. For Nvidia USB there should be a stub that hides the exclamation point. And for another USB driver is not installed? There is a driver for USB Audio, it is for Realtek chip: https://mega.nz/file/m6IxzBgC#nbCguJ_LKOEFqW5xPcqxIplk2273cKBYLJhPaDEB1Ik

  31. I will stay (at your request) but will be making some major changes to how I do things here (like getting on a lot less) so I can still be on without being on everyday of the week like I have

  32. Please no, don't leave us. It will be a sad thing if you leave the forum again. Some forum members have left us already. Thanks.

  34. Saw a recently recorded local talk show that would be called Non-violence in English. Can't say I heard anything I didn't know already. It was focused on the violence among the young ones still in school, how schools don't have authority anymore, how the violence spreads through social media, about those patterns being picked up from the family etc. But what will change for the better? What will they do? Not much I suppose. What has changed throughout the history? We're just apes with smartphones. Someone there referred to the smartphone as a weapon kids haven't been taught to handle properly.

  37. Does that also mean you will stop providing FFmpeg builds for XP? On the other hand, if that PC is powerful enough, you can run XP in a virtual machine.

  38. See: https://github.com/yt-dlp/yt-dlp#related-scripts I know, but I put the link here anyway for others to test. Indeed. I'm amazed he still manages to cope with the hundreds of duplicate issues.

  40. This is a political opinion that should not fit in this forum. I cannot imagine that situation and I am not going to express my political opinion here. Sorry.

  41. We are experiencing a new wave of spammers that is not unique to MSFN and is happening on other forums as well. These spammers will post about cryptocurrency. However, in addition to new users doing this, some of these spammers have been able to hijack or compromise existing user accounts and make a spam post. When we find an existing user that posts this type of spam, we will apply a 0 point warning on your account so that we can restrict posting. The warning reason will indicate that this has happened. Then you can PM the mod who sent you the warning and they will confirm that it is you and advise that you change your password. After this, the moderator can restore your posting ability.
