  1. @Dave-H I have no timezone discrepancies between St52 and 360EEv13.0 as reported by the browserspy test page linked above... My current timezone is EEST = GMT+0300, both browsers display: Below is a screengrab of the "Date & Time" Control Panel applet in my system (VistaSP2 x86, I believe XP looks similar): Do you have "Automatically adjust clock for DST" ticked as I do? If so, then your timezone's DST period is being picked up from a relevant Windows Update (a registry-stored setting?) - your non-DST timezone should be set accordingly (mine is EET = GMT+0200) ... If the origin of your "problem" isn't identified in the end, I guess you can manually set your timezone for the period BST is enforced to one of the GMT+0100 variants (deselecting the "Automatically adjust clock for DST" setting) ...

  8. Watching and bit taken off guard by the tone and his miscommunication, but I got through about 5 minutes and I get its and it not too far off from what I've said (or you or I have written) but when he says "we're alone" please understand what means, is, you're not alone, because you (your mind) is always with you. Not to confuse that being you can't escape, because "escape(ism)" is also wrong mindset, we need to face up to our depressions to get to the root cause ... but even if we don't yet know that root cause, when you feel alone with your brain, rather see it as your weapon of choice to battle the darkness, make no room for it. You can't escape or chase it away, make no room and rob dark thoughts of their power and *allow* the light to take its place. Hard to always see, but light is more powerful but not as easy to see sometimes. Thank you @msfntor for taking the time to recognize the power of our brains and we (only we) can recover and heal ourselves. Hard to see (I know that from "first-hand' experience) but that power is there, just need to find it and not allow it to weaken. Every time I fall, I get up which is why I'm here. I don't know, strong will and desire to not allow the darkness to overtake me or "get me". Its a fight ,but so worth it, You, everybody, you are all worth it! Be true and kind and it will come back around to you.

  9. Alzheimer disease: The amazing thing spinach does to your brain 8/10/2022, 7:08:51 AM Green leaves are healthy and not only for the diet or the heart. A new study has found that there is a chance that it can also stop degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's. So what are you waiting for? Dr. Noa Bergman explains what causes Alzheimer's, is there a way to prevent the disease, and how to treat someone who has already become ill Leafy greens are perhaps one of the healthiest nutrients to add to your daily menu, partly because of the high presence of vitamin K which is known to be beneficial against heart disease and helps with blood clotting. Now, an international team whose research was published in the scientific journal NATURE found a new and surprising benefit in the consumption of vitamin K - preventing cell death and stopping degenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's. According to the Harvard School of Public Health, vitamin K comes in two forms. The main type is phylloquinone, which is found in green leafy vegetables such as kale and spinach. The second type is menkinones, found in some animal foods and fermented foods. This type can also be produced by bacteria in the human body. Researchers claim that there are 10 forms of vitamin K2 in the diet and each of them may be absorbed and act differently in the body. Researchers from the Helmholtz Center in Munich, Tohoku University in Japan, the University of Ottawa in Canada and the Technical University of Dresden discovered that vitamin K acts as an antioxidant that inhibits cell death. Researchers say that proptosis (Ferroptosis) "is a natural form of cell death related to iron in the cell and characterized by oxidative destruction of the cell membranes". Recently, proptosis has been implicated in Alzheimer's disease and other diseases. The findings suggest that vitamin K therapy may be a powerful new strategy to ameliorate the diseases associated with proptosis. As the prevention of proptosis is considered a very promising approach to the treatment of many neurodegenerative diseases, new mechanisms and compounds that modulate proptosis are being extensively investigated. To identify these new molecules, a team of researchers led by Dr. Iken Mishima (Tohoku University) and Dr. Markus Konrad (Helmholtz Munich), systematically studied several natural vitamins, as well as their derivatives. "To our surprise, we identified that vitamin K, including phylloquinone (vitamin K1) and menquinone-4 (vitamin K2), is able to effectively rescue cells and tissues from undergoing proptosis," explained Dr. Mishima. This is not the first time, of course, that nutrition has been found to inhibit diseases such as Alzheimer's. A study published in 2020 in the journal Neurology found, for example, that foods containing flavonols - compounds found in plant pigments - may delay and prevent Alzheimer's. They wrote at the time that "Eating more fruits and vegetables and drinking more tea could be a relatively cheap and easy way for people to help prevent dementia." The top sources of flavonols included pears, olive oil, kale, beans, tea, spinach, broccoli, wine, tomatoes and apples. 16. I simply didn't have a use for it Currently I use the browsers which works without needing the functionality of TLS 1.3 proxy. I have a second WinXP install though, without TLS 1.2 updates. I wanted to try it in that install, but I had to download it from this installation because I didn't want to mess with configuring some browser! (laziness shows up :D) And, I don't want to boot it up anymore as the reason of installation was I couldn't boot up this one after I've installed Linux (I just had to edit boot.ini, but I found it out later). I think I know the reason: the setting you shared (dom.moduleScripts.enabled false) breaks uBlock Origin. It also crashes the browser eventually (I think it's because of uBO as well). Without that setting set to false, I can use uBlock Origin without any problems (But the version is 1.42.4, while it's 1.44.4 in my main PC's browser Firefox 105). Addition: Oh wait, it's because Mypal doesn't support auto-updating of extensions and I installed it before the update. If I reinstall it, then it should work fine too. Does it have an In-Line Translator though? It's the only feature I'd use (apart from full page translate). (Oh wait I should be able to check it, right? )

  18. "More psyche than virus"? German long-Covid study with new findings and surprising conclusion "More psyche than virus"? German long-Covid study with new findings and surprising conclusion Created: 09/13/2022, 12:19 p.m By: Anna Lorenz A current study by the Essen University Hospital on Long-Covid leads to a new perspective on the disease. According to the study, the psyche could play a crucial role. Essen - so many facets, so few facts: Long-Covid as a disease resulting from a corona infection is quieter in the media, but no less serious. On closer inspection, it becomes clear: having to live for weeks and months with diffuse symptoms that can severely impair everyday life and not knowing whether the symptoms will go away is extremely stressful. A study by the University Hospital Essen started to research the causes of Long-Covid - with surprising results. Long-Covid: Fatigue, brain fog, memory problems - is it all psychological? It's a terrible idea: Day after day you're plagued by all sorts of ailments, indisposition, tiredness. The symptoms are sometimes stronger, sometimes weaker or alternate. There doesn't seem to be an end in sight, and scientifically unambiguous findings are still lacking. When physical examinations then all end without findings, those affected often feel helpless. Nevertheless, there are some questionable "miracle treatments" for long-Covid, which medical professionals clearly advise against. But what if Long-Covid were psychological? It is understandable that many patients who have to struggle with the disease in everyday life feel alienated by this thesis. As author Thomas Müller explains in the specialist portal SpringerMedizin , those affected finally described brain fog, memory problems and language difficulties as the most common symptoms of Long-Covid - and thus processes that can basically be located in neurology. However, a study by the University Hospital Essen surprised with test results that make the psyche appear as an important factor in long-Covid illness. Study: Long-Covid patients are examined neurologically - surprising results Current study: Fleischer, M., Szepanowski, F., Tovar, M. et al. Post-COVID-19 Syndrome is Rarely Associated with Damage of the Nervous System: Findings from a Prospective Observational Cohort Study in 171 Patients. Neurol Ther (2022). The study can be found here. In the cohort study with 171 patients, the scientists examined the extent to which damage to the nervous system was found in long-Covid patients. For this, those affected were “subjected to comprehensive neurological diagnostics”. Nerves, blood vessels and signal transmission in cells and tissues were examined and blood analyzes were carried out. “Additionally, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and lumbar puncture were performed in subgroups of patients. In addition, patients underwent neuropsychological, psychosomatic, and fatigue assessments,” the study said. The result: 85.8 percent of the people examined, who were mostly female and middle-aged, showed no neurological abnormalities. Most of the subjects had suffered mild to moderate acute COVID-19 and reported clear signs of illness. Nevertheless, the doctors were only able to make a diagnosis in 2.3 percent of the cases that was not long-Covid or seemed to be related to the previous corona infection. Explosive Essen study: "Long-Covid has much more to do with the psyche than with the virus" However, the scientists made some discoveries. For example, “sensory or motor complaints” frequently occurred in combination with another neurological diagnosis instead of Long-Covid. Previous mental illnesses could also be identified as a “risk factor for the development of a post-COVID-19 syndrome”. Is Long-Covid a matter of the mind? As a result, however, "increased levels of somatization indicate a pathogenesis that may include psychosomatic factors" - or, as the co-author of the study, Prof. Christoph Kleinschnitz from the Department of Neurology at the University Hospital Essen, put it in an interview with Bild: “In other diseases, such as multiple sclerosis, one can clearly identify a focus of inflammation in the brain. In the case of long-Covid, the findings are normal in most cases. We conclude from this: Long-Covid has much more to do with the psyche than with the virus.” ... 21. Just a reminder! Any changes to an installation of ProxHTTPSProxy or HTTPSProxy, especially the installation of a new CA certificate, or severe crashes of the system while one of the proxies was running in the background, always requires a reset of all dummy certificates in the Certs subfolder. The word "reset" at this point means deleting all certificates manually that have been created in the Certs folder. The next time the proxy is started correctly, all necessary certificates will be created again when the corresponding websites are accessed. Renaming or saving the Certs folder is completely unnecessary. Cheers, AstroSkipper

  23. (My own translation: 'In the past, perhaps many years ago, it's possible we (in China) were using DST... But only really old people would now know/remember that...') Well, according to on-line sources: https://www.timeanddate.com/time/change/china DST was last observed in China during 1991 (31 years ago); the clocks were put back 1hr on Sept 15th 1991 (to CST = GMT+0800), never to move again since ... Later edit, possibly off-topic : I'm not "old old" myself , still old enough to remember that over here (Greece) DST would be applied for ca. 6 months (end of March through to end of September) until the year 1995; in an effort to "save" even more daylight, starting in 1996, DST was extended to 7 months ("fall back" at the end of October) ...

  25. Secondly.. Your life matters and nobody is beyond help, its good to reach out to others, but be cautious with whom you trust and allow into your circle of support as you may not be as guarded during times you feel fragile or vulnerable. If you have a supportive family and friends you can count on to have your best interests, I'd say, be cautious because you can easily chase people away if you overwhelm them, be mindful that we are all human, and while they may want to help, not everybody is able to offer you the attention because people are also caught up in their own lives and dealings. Best to not pretend to be something your aren't but also keep in mind, helping others can be therapeutic; so you being a good listener to someone can make a huge difference. Be there for others and treat others as you would prefer to be treated. You see.. and if that doesn't happen, then you may reconsider with whom you consider to be friends.

  26. Good I have time to think, nothing at all wrong with quiet, trust you me. You can be alone (with yourself) but not by yourself and not feel lonely; and, of course, the other way around. So: First... If you are questioning your mental health or are dealing with ongoing mental health disorders ... you are not alone and guess what, there is nothing *wrong* with you. See ... even with a diagnosis, you shouldn't consider yourself abnormal or damaged and somehow lesser than others, and sometimes those that may appear to be "Normal" are suffering silently. When it interferes with your life and prevents your from enjoying life, this is where we need to address and seek our answers to your symptoms. Gonna have to do this in parts and I easily lose track of my thoughts.

  27. Thank you very much, I think that shows the problem! Here's the page on 360Chrome - And here it is on Firefox 52.9.1 ESR - As you can see, they are an hour adrift, and the correct local time is being shown by FF 52.9, not 360Chrome. It's obviously a DST problem as you say, and it will almost certainly come good at the end of October when we go back to using GMT in the UK. However, where is 360Chrome getting this incorrect timestamp from, when everything else on the system as far as I can see is showing the time correctly? I will certainly investigate that registry changing article, but as I am away from home for the next week, it will have to wait until next weekend I'm afraid before I can do any experimentation. I wouldn't mind betting that 360Chrome is somehow reading the time from before the DST offset is applied, if that's possible, and that may well be because 360Chrome doesn't take DST into account as China doesn't use it. I realise that still doesn't explain why I appear to be the only one with the problem of course! Thanks again, that is extremely helpful, but still just as puzzling! Cheers, Dave.

  32. 25/07/2022 The Chinese superhero: caught a two-year-old baby girl who fell from the fifth floor A Chinese man was declared a "national hero" after he miraculously caught a two-year-old girl who fell from a fifth-floor window. Shen Dong, 31, was parking his car in front of an apartment building in Tongxiang, Zhejiang Province, when he heard a loud noise. It was a baby girl who fell from the window from the fifth floor and landed on a metal roof. The two-year-old slipped off the roof and was about to hit the sidewalk, when she was saved at the last moment by a tooth that caught her. The girl was rushed to the hospital with injuries to her legs and lungs, and her condition is stable, the "South China Morning Post" reported. A video of the incident was shared by the local police on Weibo - China's equivalent of Twitter - and went viral. On social networks, Shen was nicknamed "superhero". Shen, who works at the bank opposite, saw what was happening and was in the middle of a phone call to the emergency services, but then he noticed that the girl was about to fall from the roof, threw his phone and managed to catch her before she hit the concrete. According to him, at first he did not know it was a baby. "The truth is, I don't remember all the details," he told the "Chiangyang Evening News." "I don't remember if my arms hurt. It was an instinct to grab her. I was lucky I was able to grab her in time. Otherwise I would have felt terrible."
