Beta testing of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 A warm welcome to all my beta testers! @Dave-H, @mina7601, @XPerceniol, @George King, @NotHereToPlayGames Today is the day! Just a few minutes, and the beta test of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 will be starting! @George King will test my program package with a special focus on Windows XP Professional x64 Edition. Of course, the main focus will be in a properly working of my program package in Windows XP, but besides that, another focus should also be on the documentation in terms of completeness and traceability. Actually, the documentation should be sufficient to install and use my program package without any additional information. Therefore, I would like to ask everyone to really read both documents and report any discrepancies, including grammatical and spelling errors, especially @Dave-H and @XPerceniol, as native English speakers. I did my very best in writing as complete as possible. And last not least, @mina7601 and @NotHereToPlayGames will be the allrounder, testing whatever can be tested. I count on you all! And honestly, I appreciate all of you very much! Here are some hints before starting to install my program package: Delete all autostart entries referring to the programs PopMenu and ProxHTTPSProxy! Deactivate or uninstall possible programs like TrayIt! or other similar window managers! Please read both documents, the short one "READ ME FIRST!.txt" for starting with the program package easily and quickly, and the more detailed one "Documentation of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3.txt" to avoid problems, and to get more information about this program package, of course! You do not have to uninstall a previous installed "ca.crt" certificate belonging to ProxHTTPSProxy. You can continue to use it. Copy the old "ca.crt" to the new location and overwrite the existing one! In this case, you can also copy the old Certs folder to the new location. And here are still some ideas for testing: Try to install the program package by using different paths! Check if my configuration utility "Configure PopMenu" does its job properly in your system! Read the documentation and check if it is complete and understandable! Try out all provided features! After applying my configuration program, perform a restart and check if the programs Min2Tray and PopMenu were started automatically! Check if the proxy settings are activated after executing the file "StartProxy.exe", and deactivated after closing the proxy in different ways! Call up different websites and also TLS testing websites while using the proxy! Of course, you can test everything you consider important. It's up to you! Have a lot of fun and do all relaxed! I will be around here from time to time and assist as soon as possible, only if necessary, of course! There is no time limit! When all of my beta testers have finished testing, and all problems or bugs have been solved, then the beta test will be over, not before. And now the beta testing is starting. I'll send you the download link of my archive via PM in the next minutes! Thank you all in advance for your participation! Hope you'll enjoy my program package and have a lot of fun while testing! Cheers, AstroSkipper PS: And I apologise in advance for making you read so much! I am not the type for short explanations! I always try to write or explain as clearly and precisely as possible. Most certainly a disease of all mathematicians!3 points

Hi Guys.. Had to do some soul searching after giving this more thought, and while I'm honored to be nominates to be on the team for this impressive project; sadly, I've decided to step from the project (sometimes better to stay out of the way of progress rather than hinder) and be glad and excited for everyone involved. Unfortunately, after trying to update and seek out what I would need to do to get this Dell Optiplex 745 and My Ancient Dimension 3000 up to speed, I realized that I'd be better to keep things the way they are, much like myself, just barely breathing and allow them to huff and puff. Luckily, nothing has blown up, but I have protective goggles and armor for when that does occur to not hurt by the shrapnel Again, I'm stoked at the excitement and your vision @AstroSkipper, and that you would even consider someone such as myself to even attempt to pretend I know what I'm doing - Some (most) days, I'm one bolt short (more than one) to be a nutcase. I'd like to say I'm the brains (so not) not even the brawn, but I'll gladly accept badge of "Beauty". To tell you the truth, I usually crack my mirrors and that was 6 years ago, so 1 more year of bad luck ... Lol Seriously, I learn something every day and this was no exception, and honestly, I'm happy that my computers are even still winding up like my false teeth. Ok ... Enough off topic ... and Love you guys, Sending well wishes going forward and don't mistake this as me giving up or getting discouraged. Sincerely Yours, ~Mister Blofish No reply needed.2 points

I think .NET Core 6.0.6 is working good now. dotnet --help no longer fails. I will have to test further and work on a couple of minor issues. In the process, I have determined how MS will likely disable .NET Core on Windows 7. Calls to BCryptCreateHash are first done with a flag only supported on Windows 8 and up, then again without the flag if the call fails. They will remove that second fallback call right away in a cleanup of legacy code.2 points

............... So happy you are here @mina7601 and @msfntor, and hopefully others will pop in and say hello. All folks that posted gave us insight and humility. For me, once somebody enters my thread, I consider they stopped by for a chat and I usually will put on pot of Early Grey Tea, and I don't usually forget when somebody crossed my path as I feel we are did so not by chance, but destiny. I'd like to say I don't get attached easily, but that would be false. We have not always been easy on the eyes here, but we were/are real, and they can't even take that away. Sometimes honesty can't be a brutal realization, but nonetheless, important experiences and lessons come from the honestly of others. At times, we've headed down a dark road, but we cam back around and living proof of being human and alive. Hopefully, others will return and say hello, but if not, I do wish the very best to all and I hold no regret and am glad we've reopened the MSFN café. Come as you are1 point

Same here for GreenBrowser and Sleipnir (which are both basically just "shells" to IE8).1 point

Dear @Dave-H, thanks a lot! That's what I wanted to know. Glad all features and points from my list work as they should. You are great! And many thanks for your check of grammatical and spelling errors! And now a short hint for you and all other testers. You can open the settings of Min2Tray and enable "middle mouse click anywhere in the window" to minimize ProxHTTPSProxy's status window alternatively. I will add this to the preset.1 point

Try to install the program package by using different paths! All seems fine, no problem with spaces! Check if my configuration utility "Configure PopMenu" does its job properly in your system! Yes, it worked perfectly. Read the documentation and check if it is complete and understandable! I think so, as long as people read it fully of course (which I didn't initially!) and remember what it says. It's all there. Try out all provided features! All work as advertised. After applying my configuration program, perform a restart and check if the programs Min2Tray and PopMenu were started automatically! Yes they were. Check if the proxy settings are activated after executing the file "StartProxy.exe", and deactivated after closing the proxy in different ways! All seems fine. Call up different websites and also TLS testing websites while using the proxy! TLS v1.3 connections fine in IE8!1 point

Ah really sorry, I am currently away and don't have access to my Windows machines, but I will add one as soon as I've had a chance to look at the new version! In the meantime, if you would like to use the batch installer, you might be able to try amending one of the older .CFG files. I've included a .TXT in my original post with the installer file, which hopefully explains how to do this (might also be helpful to have a look at Win32's SETUP.CONF file and TSNH's manual installation instructions at the start of this thread.)1 point

My release needs Min2Tray. I have integrated it and adjusted it to work with ProxHTTPSProxy properly.1 point

So it does, but that's not very intuitive IMO. I would have expected to have to right-click on the minimise button, not the close button! Fair enough, but using TrayIt! will also get rid of the extra tray icon problem, as it can hide its own icon. I'm a bit surprised that Min2Tray can't do that, being as it's a system tray utility, but I guess their view is that you should always be able to immediately access the program.1 point
-
Sounds good! Delaying ProxHTTPSProxy.exe auto-starting by 10 seconds with Startup Delayer does work. I'm afraid from my experiments at the moment I prefer my TrayIt! solution though. I got really used to just being able to click on the Proxy icon to bring its window up, and clicking it again to put it back in the tray.1 point
-
Everything is working here. About the only oddity I see is more of a comparison to older versions of ProxHTTPSProxy but it may have been the Launcher.exe that I was using. In your version, you can click on the "blue circle" systray icon to maximize the window, but then the systray icon disappears. In older versions of ProxHTTPSProxy, the systray icon would remain and you could click the icon again to minimize the window. Only other observation I see is that the ReadMeFirst file references a "ProxHTTPSProxy Cert Installer" and I could not find that file in my download.1 point
-
So D.Draker my friend, where are you? .... Come back soon, please... - come back here everyone... UCyborg, Mina,... "sure thing, Dave... no hassle."1 point
-
I wrote the text about the autostart of ProxHTTPSProxy only for you. I knew you will ask for that. Same as last time! Right?1 point
-
Ah, understood! I was caught out because the proxy always used to start on boot by default for me with previous installations. I need it running all the time because my e-mails in Eudora don't display properly without it. I have Startup Delayer already installed and running to delay other things, so I will just use that.1 point

Sorry, I got off track and botched up system. Turns out Rogue Killer doesn't like it and this is warning to anybody that uses it, it just made my system unable to boot, avoid it (Rogue Killer) for now until we know more about this. As you can see, I'm back thanks for Acronis ... like nothing happened. As you can see: C+++2010 ... so loos like I've some updated to do. Thank you for telling/reminding me. I'm going to start fresh and uninstall and remove anything from the old cert updater or anything from @heinoganda so I don't confuse with yours. Oh and just wanted to also say, system restore did NOT work so need to backup well when making changes.1 point

The documentation seems fine to me. Would you like another Word document of the proofed version with a bigger font? One thing I'm now finding is that although Min2Tray and PopMenu run at boot fine, HTTPSProxy doesn't. I have to start it manually. What have I missed?1 point
-
And a short annoucement! From now on we have one more tester. And the latecomer is: @NotHereToPlayGames. Welcome on board! And my first recommendation: please read the complete documentation first! Just to avoid problems!1 point
-
Thanks for the corrected document! I'll read it as soon as possible. Ok! I really need a pair of glasses. The font is too small on my monitor and my tablet. Thanks a lot for finding mistakes!1 point
-
Did you follow the instructions in both documents? And why do you have a message about ProxHTTPSProxy_PSwitch.exe? This file doesn't exist in ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 anymore. It's a file from the old @heinoganda's version of ProxHTTPSProxy. Please don't mix up the versions! Uninstall all previous builds! Follow the instructions in both documents! If further problems occur, simply ask!1 point
-
OK. I don't like using the Windows 'hide inactive icons' option much. I have always had it disabled, and using it just puts an extender double arrow in place of the hidden icon, so you don't gain any space if you're only hiding one icon! I will investigate further! I've attached a proof-read copy of the main document (which I actually hadn't read, I only read the 'Readme First!' one!) I've marked the corrections in red (which is why it has to be a Word document) I hope you can read it OK. Cheers, Dave. Documentation of ProxHTTPSProxy.docx1 point

OK, first impressions, all works really well! My first question is, is it possible to hide the Min2Tray icon in the system tray? I can't see any obvious setting to do that. My tray is already pretty cluttered and the Proxy icon and PopMenu icon I obviously want there, but I can't see any reason to have to keep the Min2Tray icon there.1 point

Yeah, I guess this is the problem. You change the system disk to be a RAMDisk, Windows reacts like this is a full hardware change and will need same SysWoW64 files to be signed. You can edit Tools\CATTrim.ini and add the lines: ..\SysWOW64\basesrv.dll ..\SysWOW64\bcryptprimitives.dll ..\SysWOW64\csrsrv.dll ..\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll ..\SysWOW64\kernel32.dll ..\SysWOW64\kernelbase.dll ..\SysWOW64\gdi32.dll ..\SysWOW64\gdi32full.dll ..\SysWOW64\ucrtbase.dll ..\SysWOW64\winsrv.dll ..\SysWOW64\win32u.dll ..\SysWOW64\normaliz.dll ..\SysWOW64\advapi32.dll ..\SysWOW64\bcryptprimitives.dll ..\SysWOW64\cfgmgr32.dll ..\SysWOW64\clbcatq.dll ..\SysWOW64\combase.dll ..\SysWOW64\comctl32.dll ..\SysWOW64\coml2.dll ..\SysWOW64\crypt32.dll ..\SysWOW64\cryptbase.dll BTW: there is a newer SVBUS available.1 point

Beta testing of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 Hello to all! In exactly three hours, the beta test will be starting! 02:00 PM, German time UTC+2! Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

Beta testing of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 As far as I can see, the beta test of ProxHTTPSProxy's PopMenu TLS 1.3 3V3 can be started tomorrow, on Sunday. First of all, some important information for my beta testers. Based on the experiences from the last and, for me, very first beta test, here are a few small rules to ensure that everything runs smoothly. The beta test will be performed publicly. Only the download link of my archive will be provided via PM, and all possible fixes, too. Any problems, questions or suggestions of improvement should be posted and discussed here in this thread to keep the others informed and involved. Post both, positives and negatives, it doesn't matter, I am tough! Keep me informed from time to time what's going on in testing and provide results! Any feedback is welcome and important! The targeted OS is Windows XP Professional SP3 with or without POSReady updates. You can also test the program in Windows XP Professional x64 Edition, but in this case I can't help or fix problems if the issue is caused by the 64 Bit architecture. The reason for that is I do not have this OS, and I can't install it. My computer is a 32 Bit machine. More information tomorrow! Cheers, AstroSkipper1 point

You can actually install the latest version of Chrome (103 for me) via the official installer, just add this to osver.ini in your Windows directory: [global] enabled=1 Win7SuperVerFix=1 MajorVersion=6 MinorVersion=1 BuildNumber=7601 CSDVersion=Service Pack 1 PlatformID=2 Once the installation has completed, erase the "global" string and restart Chrome. Or you can keep it, I just prefer to spoof the OS version to individual applications. EDIT: this has to be performed with the latest extended kernel update (Jul 25).1 point
