Yep, should have read that file! Read it before but didn't bother to look at it again, serves me right. Anyway, I copied the three files across and XP now boots in AHCI mode! It's now trying to install a driver, but it wants msachi.sys, a file that doesn't seem to exist on the machine anywhere, or on my other XP machine, or on the Windows XP installation CD. EDIT: OK, panic over, I just reinstalled the driver from the Integrator folder, and it's now OK, showing as a "Standard SATA AHCI Controller". Thanks guys so much for this, and for tolerating my stupidity! Now onwards to the further delights of finding all the other drivers, especially the touchpad, which is pretty unusable at the moment. @jaclazI do hope it doesn't take as long this time to find a working touchpad driver as it did last time! I'll let you know.........

I made an unofficial update to BlackWingCat's Extended Core because the official Extended Core is not on BlackWingCat's new website, and I wanted to make an English version of Extended Core v16d because I cannot read Japanese. Most of the files in this update are from Extended Core v16a because they are the same as the ones in Extended Core v16d except for the language. Update: Made installer with SFXCAB utility. You put the memory address of the function in the wrong place (00000040 is near the beginning of the file; not the end where .xdata is located). In IDA Pro you will notice two numbers on the status bar: The one on the left, 0005B840 is the offset memory address and the one that Export Table Tester uses, as well as hex editors. So that is where you want to put the address of the function. And then there are a few other concerns, especially with regards to the export table: if you do not move it to an empty space in the file, such as farther down as .xdata, with lots of expansion room, you may end up running into other code or data.

My view is that nefarious keyloggers will send data BEFORE we hit that "submit reply" button. I've watched network packet traffic and I see no evidence of data being transferred WHILE our reply-box typing is being "logged". And you can open that log WHILE typing in this reply box and see just what it logs. I see nothing nefarious going on, just a "feature" that SOME will see as "value-add". I would rather this reply-box NOT be logged AT ALL. It was ME that reported this logging and I've seen ZERO people leave MSFN on account of it. And I have no plans to leave on account of it either. What you chose to do is totally up to you. But I am convinced that we will NOT get MSFN to change their code just for OUR preference. Nor should they, in my opinion. I'm all for privacy and security, but I think way too many people use it as an excuse for paranoia. And everybody's definition of "privacy", "security", and "paranoia" are DIFFERENT. All we can do is do the talking with our FEET, to be perfectly honest. I do that with Twitter and Facebook and 60% or so of Google (I do use some Google services). Twitter and Facebook is blocked. Oh, a lot of Yahoo is blocked also. If I feel like MSFN becomes "nefarious", then my feet will walk. In the meantime, it's all just "talk".

I think you need to update your certificates . There's a good info about it on MSFN. Nitter works fine for me on Vista SP0. (RTM). Don't listen to him , you don't need a win 10 PC . Nonsense ! Wow, and I thought I was crazy when I re-installed XP maybe a bit over 5 times (going from fading memories here) in one of those years. It was me messing around with things I shouldn't, plus the old SP1 era language pack + updates didn't play well all the time and I remember the obscure glitch at some point when clicking Effects... button in Display Properties on Appearance tab just didn't do anything. Possibly flaky hardware as well. Does 10 activate legitimately in such case? XP was really anal about it (probably should say activation server, but the point remains) and refused it due to it being done too many times, had to look for a bypass to be able to use it. There are countless games from the era that work with DX9. Of course, you need something better than Intel GMA!

You can mix RAM modules. You can have a ddr2 400mhz CL6 with ddr2 333mhz CL5 module. Your system will always run at the highest speed that it's compatible with both DIMMs so you are free to do whatever you want with the RAM modules. But be aware, the i945PM might need a bios update to accept the full 4GB of RAM

I remember US Air force dropped MRE every 10 days (god bless USA for that) as help for surrounded city, it just was not enough.Some of houses had little gardens with some vegetables, most did not. After three months rumors started abouth first deaths from starvation,deaths from low temperatures, we stripped every door , window frame from abandoned houses for heating, i burned all my own furniture for heating, lot of people died from diseases, mostly from bad water (two of my family members), we used rain water for drink, several times i ate pigeons, once i ate rat. Money did not worth sh.. we traded things, black market worked, few examples: for 1 corned beef can you could have woman for couple of hours(sounds bad, but it was reality) i remember, most of that womans were just desperate mothers, candles, lighters,antibiotics,fuel,batteries, rifle ammo and of course food, we fight like animals for that. In situation like that lot of things change, most of people turned to monsters, it was ugly. Strength was in the numbers, if you were alone in the house, you ve been probably robbed and killed, no matter how well armed.
