Microsoft Update and Windows Update no longer work on XP or Vista. It is the SHA-2 problem. I can still connect to the MS Update website, but it immediately fails when scanning starts.2 points

WineD3D takes DX10/11 calls on 2000/XP and translates them to OpenGL calls. To have real DX10/11 on XP/2003 would require working WDDM drivers. But even getting newer WDDM 1.1 drivers on Vista (earlier ones work) is going to be very difficult, so I can't imagine XP. Apparently some people have hacked WDDM support into Server 2003, but I never found proof.2 points

I think I know what's wrong Follow this video instead https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjN6-e3nlPE Download these four files too https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/tenfoot_misc_all.zip.1ca83d76835b4613170f5cead778b176b11f2b0c https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/friendsui_all.zip.vz.dd7a37b3cfae6b356320e3cc2f8b22b9143d9022_15642680 https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/bins_cef_win32.zip.00fd988efedc940b14fe643d5a5eaf4e0a5f1605 https://steamcdn-a.akamaihd.net/client/bins_webhelpers_win32.zip.0f58d386fdc901fee6a04040e92b9ea56146b78a Using the .exe from the current Oct 2nd copy of Steam you have, it should extract everything. If it doesn't, you'll need to send me the bootstrap logs. Once Steam is extracted, it'll fail to launch. Now copy over your modded files, and try again1 point

BlackWingCat has new versions of Adobe Flash Player on win2k.org. To find, go to http://win2k.org/wlu/wluen.htm and click "Manual Update" on the left side. Select these options: OS Type: Windows 2000 Kind: Additional function Language: English Click search and the versions of Flash Player are at the bottom of the list that appears (newest at the very bottom).1 point

ok thanks invidio.us main shut down recently but it lists a few other options to choose from if you visit https://instances.invidio.us/ Anyway this is the sign in icon nm27 with tweaks shows. It does pass through to a login page when clicked but beyond that I cannot test. Perhaps someone with a yt account can see what happens? Just to clarify, this is on the regular nm27 32bit, not the sse or ia32 builds, no idea if these may have other restrictions to play yt etc?1 point

Firefox 68 user agent on 2020-08-14 version of nm27 seems to be working. There's a user agent switcher eclipsed moon if that makes it easier, or about:config and set general.useragent.override and pick a user agent from here maybe https://user-agents.net/browsers/firefox/platforms alternatively use one of the invidio.us instances to access In either case you may need to put the LAV filters in the NM program directory https://msfn.org/board/topic/180462-my-browser-builds-part-2/?do=findComment&comment=11719721 point

I am using RTGND.DOS, with other NDIS2-drivers I believe only the file name has to be substituted everywhere (untested)! Relevant entries (directory as you like) -------------------------------------------------------------- CONFIG.SYS -------------------------------------------------------------- . . DEVICE=C:\DRIVERS\NDIS2PKT\PROTMAN.DOS /I:C:\DRIVERS\NDIS2PKT DEVICE=C:\DRIVERS\NDIS2PKT\RTGND.DOS DEVICE=C:\DRIVERS\NDIS2PKT\DIS_PKT.DOS . . . -------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- AUTOEXEC.BAT -------------------------------------------------------------- C:\DRIVERS\NDIS2PKT\NETBIND.COM . . REM AFTER YOUR PATH STATEMENT (PATH ...., or SET PATH=.... ) set Path=C:\DRIVERS\NDIS2PKT;%PATH% . . -------------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------------- PROTOCOL.INI -------------------------------------------------------------- [protman$] DriverName=protman$ [RTL8168] DriverName=RTGND$ Medium=_auto Interrupt=11 IOBase=0xe800 [PKTDRV] DriverName=PKTDRV$ IntVec=0x60 ChainVec=0x65 BINDINGS=RTL8168 -------------------------------------------------------------- In PROTOCOL.INI instead of [RTL8168] AND BINDINGS=RTL8168 the right NIC-code should be used twice, but is not necessary in my opinion, as long they are identical. Needed is to substitute the name-part of the filename of the NDIS2 driver in DriverName=RTGND$ ($ at the end, no extension!). Do NOT change the [PKTDRV] entries. For other NDIS2 driver-specific entries needed in PROTOCOL.INI study the INF/INI/NIF-files coming with the NDIS2-driver, or take a look in %WINDIR%\PROTOCOL.INI if NDIS2-driver is installed in Windows 9x (for my NIC RTGND$ uses: Medium=_auto / Interrupt=11 / IOBase=0xe800). Shim in use is DIS_PKT.DOS 4733 Bytes 05/01/1998 The files PROTMAN.DOS and NETBIND.COM are part of MSClient. How to get them and the shim see: http://wiki.freedos.org/wiki/index.php/Networking_FreeDOS_-_NDIS_driver_installation Although the wiki states otherwise, the PROTMAN.DOS /I switch, pointing to the directory where all files reside, is needed - in my setup at least. BTW: don't install MSClient. Further: I am not sure if the path-entry is needed, my setup is already 2½ years old. Update: the PATH-entry isn't needed on my system!1 point

These forks are still updated, and are probably the best option for pre-Firefox 57 based browsers https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock-for-firefox-legacy/releases https://gitlab.com/vannilla/ematrix/-/releases1 point

Looks like eM Client 7.2.36694.0 came from a long list of additions suggested by @Werewolf on December 14, 2019. I would speculate that the problem might be related to the Chromium rendering engine introduced one version earlier according to Release history, so maybe try two versions earlier. They actually fixed a Vista issue with 7.1.30508.0 in June 2017, so support was ONG then.1 point
