well come back next month in December and ask that original question again, Vistapocalypse. just manually downloaded & ran the recent mpam-feX64.exe file (11/6) from one of my Win7 machines running MSE 4.10.209 to update the definition files - still not getting any EOL nags from MSE. only either the KB4493132 or KB4524752 updates for Win7 are showing the EOL nags but no EOL notifications within the MSE app

forget about that, Paul75. the chances of MS actually listening to you & others after opening a support case are slim to none when using Office 2010 on XP. and MS will be ending support for all Office 2010 editions next year on October 2020: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/deployoffice/office-2010-end-support-roadmap so I doubt MS will ever fix the Office 2010 MSO.DLL problems for XP/2003 as Office 2010 will be EOL in less than a year from now

I'm no expert on this (understatement ) but as I understand it those GAC (Global Assembly Cache) files are shared by other programs so should not be messed with. You need specific administrator permission not just admin rights to delete/add/edit those system files so it is best to leave them well alone. Yes, this is very sad news. But thanks to this thread and amazing people who write here, I think we will always have a chance, that Python 3.7 will be functional under XP. JFYI, FontForge has a newer version, based on Python 3.7.4. All the problems that I have mentioned above are also relevant to it. For my experiments I choose not the latest version, based on Python 2.7.16 , because it is little easier to adapt under XP.

Pay attention though, my friends, the UOC Patch is not compatible with Firefox Quantum (I just call it that way to distinguish it from the "Classic" Firefox) and I do not plan to port the Patch to that browser, ever.

@-SnooPY-: Python 2.7.17 has been recently released: https://www.python.org/downloads/release/python-2717/ So, whenever it's out, v2.7.18 will be the EoL/EoS Python 2.7 release...

Thanks for checking it out. I'll test the newest version this evening. On a somewhat unrelated note, Firefox Quantum appears to be capable of leveraging WebGL on almost any GPU, regardless of DirectX version support (it uses OpenGL when a DX11 GPU is not present). Under Windows 7, I can achieve silky smooth scrolling, and even 720p video playback with a Pentium 4 670, and a 32MB Radeon 7500. I've tested this on a GeForce 4 Ti 4200 as well, and observed the similar results.
