  2. I've attached RAR5 compressed files with lists of download links for all official updates for Vista 32-bit and 64-bit Post SP2 up to April 2017. Includes all language packs for Vista, IE9 and local Help update. Also included are Ultimate Extras, Optionals and .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 / 4.52 with updates. Superseded updates are not included except for a few ones just to satisfy Windows Update. Hotfixes are not included, unless available through Windows Update. Someone please mirror them on Web Archive. ASAP. EDIT: Updated files with .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 Language Packs. Installing System Updates: If you want to install a language pack, you must do it first, by downloading and running the language pack executable. 1) Download all files from Main_URLs.txt to the same folder. 2) Using WinRAR, sort files by type and unpack all .MSU files to the same folder, overwriting existing files. Then you may delete the .MSU files to save space. 3) Unpack the WindowsVistaSP2_x86_Installer.rar or WindowsVistaSP2_x64_Installer.rar (just batch files) to the same folder where you extracted the files. 4) Open a Command Prompt with Administrator privileges and switch to the folder where the update files are. 5) Run Main_Part1.bat, Main_Part2.bat and Main_Part3.bat. At the end of execution of every batch file, Windows will restart automatically. 6) Optionally you may install local copy of Help update (LangPacks_Help_URLs.txt) and the IE9 language pack (LangPacks_IE9_URLs.txt). PS: It'll take a while to install all 210+ updates. Installing .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 / 4.52 with updates: 1) Download all files from NDP35_45_URLs.txt to the same folder. 2) Unpack the WindowsVistaSP2_x86_Installer.rar or WindowsVistaSP2_x64_Installer.rar (just batch files) to the same folder where you extracted the files. 3) Open a Command Prompt with Administrator privileges and switch to the folder where the update files are. 4) Run NDP35_45_Install.bat, if needed Windows will restart automatically. 5) Optionally you may install a language pack (LangPacks_NDP35SP1_URLs.txt and LangPacks_NDP452_URLs.txt). Installing updates for optional features (only if you have installed IIS, IIS ASP, IIS FTP or Telnet from Program and Features Control Panel extension) Download all files from Features_URLs.txt and run the following .MSU packages if you have installed: IIS: KB4012373 IIS ASP: KB2124261 IIS FTP: KB975254 Telnet: KB960859 and KB3020393

  4. It means that some specific "apps" (let's call 'em "programs", OK? "apps" are the things - with feathers - on the Microsoft Store) are (easily) scriptable/automatable other ones need anyway user interaction. For these latter programs, all you want/need is a batch file running their setup. For the former programs there may already be known available scripts, tricks, methods, etc. So - example only - if you ask: How can I automate the install of 7-zip right after the installation of XP? You might get valid, specific answers (or you may be told that you cannot, etc.) Right now you are instead asking: How do I install *any* app program right after the installation of XP? Which will get you either answers like "it depends" or more plainly stupid answers, likely to not actually solve your problem. However there is a "generic" (and hopefully non-stupid) answer, which is "use RunOnceEx (or cmdlines.txt, svcpack.inf, and GuiRunOnce): https://web.archive.org/web/20080724013742/http://gosh.msfn.org:80/using_runonceex.htm https://web.archive.org/web/20080323172855/http://support.microsoft.com/kb/232509 jaclaz

  6. EDIT: This method has recently obtained noticeable popularity, and seeing the troubles of other users and more confusing methods on places such as YouTube, I thought it might be a good idea to revise and clarify this a little. Despite the fact that the damage has already been done, perhaps people who come across this topic can be helped. HOW TO FIX ROBLOX ON WINDOWS XP, VISTA, SERVER 2003, and SERVER 2008. I realize this topic is a few days old, but it is now August 30th which means we can see what this actually means. I'm actually quite surprised that they have continued support for this long, but like most companies, have finally fallen to the wrath of Microsoft. Anyway, I have not really played Roblox in years, but I decided to see what could be done for XP and Vista players now that support has officially ended. Open launching a game we greeted with this error message. This is the same usual crap that is endlessly spewed about and of course depends on your definition of 'secure'. I wouldn't really consider the inescapable mass data collection in Windows 10 'secure' either. Moving past this, download your favorite Hex editor. I choose Hex Workshop, but it really does not matter. You can find Roblox's installation folder by simply right-clicking on the Roblox shortcut and selecting 'Find target' (On Vista, it is called "open file location"). On my installation it was installed in the following: If for some reason you cannot find Roblox's installation directory, simply re-download the RobloxPlayerLauncher by clicking the "Download and install Roblox" website prompt after the client gives you the unsupported error. In fact, I recommend this even if you can find the directory because some users reported problems while editing the launcher found within the directory. Open your Hex Editor. (The following instructions will assume you have HexWorkshop, but it should be a similar process no matter what you use. Open 'RobloxLauncher.exe' in your Hex Editor. You can simply drag-and-drop the RobloxPlayerLauncher into your editor, or click the open file button and find it yourself (wherever you saved the launcher to, for example: Downloads). Next, press ctrl key and then 'F' You should see a search dialog box appear. There should be an option for what you want to search for, select "text string" in the drop down. Search for the text string "XpVistaDeprecationLevel". It should now be highlighted. Next, right click on the selection and press 'Fill'. There should be a prompt asking what you want to replace the data with. Simply type '0' into the field. When your done it should become something like this: Now try launching RobloxPlayer again... The client should have updated successfully, now go to the website and play a game: Roblox is now once again working on XP, Server 2003, 2008, and Vista! I'm not sure how long this will work for, if what they say is true, dependencies will become a problematic in the future. Hope this helps you and other players who are having this same problem!

  7. This has worked brilliantly for me on my Pentium iii LAtitude C810, and Athlon XP desktop! Why in the world do older Mozilla browsers have hardware accelerated web rendering disabled by default? It's a game changer!

  9. because ATi/AMD doesn't care about their drivers' quality in that time, buggy drivers causing BSoD, can't switch display modes, etc. BTW off-topic: I'm too used to my XP desktop (real small icons desktop view without full row selection, color-key transparent of task bar) can I can't even get my new Win7 desktop to look similar to my XP desktop. EDIT: and found this, making life a bit easier. https://www.codeproject.com/Articles/53454/Programmatically-resize-Desktop-icons-to-a-small-l

  10. Just FYI, here's the author's Web page: http://www.gerhard-schlager.at/en/projects/ctfmonremover/ Has info on what CTFMon does and whether you need it. Bottom line AIUI: you need CTFMon if you use Speech recognition Handwriting recognition Multiple keyboard layouts (e.g., for multiple languages) (Probably) Asian languages/character sets (Chinese, Japanese, Korean) If you use none of the above, might as well get rid of it! AIUI it should prevent the vulnerability, which is caused by the CTFMon.exe service not validating requests from clients. The CTFMon remover appears to replace CTFMon with a dummy program that doesn't actually handle client requests, so I'd think it can't be used to compromise your system like the "real" CTFMon can.

  11. Hi, @Vistapocalypse , Apologies for being MIA these past few months. My Graphics Card bit the dust on my Vista system at the end of April, and I've been spending most free time since, on a Win 7 lappy, brushing up on Linux in prep for what seems an inevitable move come next January. Anyhow, I'm finally bought a replacement card and am backup and running. Just finished installing the last 4 months Win updates. With all the uncertainty going on with Sandboxie atm, plus the reports of license activation issues, I wasn't in any rush to update - but went ahead anyway. Happy to report all went smoothly, Sandboxie 5.30 on Vista HP x86, running perfect. RE; your SB issue, have you tried re-installing per the advice from your link above. It looks initially like the SB driver didn't install. Is SbieDrv.sys present in program files/ sandboxie? Have you still got Shade installed? Any other security software besides Avast? Can you open notepad.exe Sandboxed?
