The invite link is invalid, however I'm gonna contact him via the advanced Chrome Forum. There's no reason to have two backported version of Chromium when we can have a joint project and share what we achieved. I'm gonna send him everything we have done as soon as I have the chance to have a word with him, then perhaps this time we will really have Chromium running on XP.3 points

It doesn't seem to work on Windows Vista. "The procedure entry point TryAcquireSRWLockExclusive could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll." followed by an "Chromium XP has stopped working". Perhaps @FranceBB could contact the developers of this Chrome 76 project because his project at least didn't give an error in Vista (only the "Chromium XP has stopped working" appeared). This way they could combine their ideas and solutions and maybe, just maybe get Chrome 76 up and running.2 points

Good to hear. It sounds to me like 360 Extreme Explorer includes its own TLS code a la Firefox. Older Chrome versions relied on XP's built-in code.2 points

It does seem to also work on Windows XP x64 SP2 with 360 Extreme Explorer, therefore it should work on all Windows XP editions.2 points

The latest version of Qihu's 360 Extreme Explorer (v11.0.2086.0, released May 16th 2019 - its default UA declares a Chromium 69.0.3497.100 compatibility ) will also pass the test : But this is on Windows Vista SP2 32-bit, not on XP SP3 32-bit (hence, one of you XP users would have to test... ) EDIT: Make sure in "flags" that chrome://flags/#tls13-variant is set to "Enabled (Final)"2 points

Some information. The latest version of Adobe Air for Vista is 29.0.0.112. Starting with version 30, this software does not work on XP and Vista. Sound Forge 13 runs on Vista, if you use the portable option (if you find it). Unfortunately, I don’t know how to do it legally, so I don’t provide links. Just information for those interested. I also have two files - jdk-9.0.3+9_windows-x86_bin.exe and jre-9.0.4_windows-x86_bin.exe . They are successfully installed on 32-bit Vista. But! They were released, and then immediately removed from public access, and officially they are not available. However, in fact, if you need Java 9 on Vista x86, you can get it. And these are the latest versions for the x86 platform. There are no updates and never will be. Also chinese UC Browser, PC-version - works on Vista. It is based on Chromium 55.2 points

Introduction: Here, you will find a list of AMD/Intel CPUs/chipsets and Intel/NVIDIA/AMD GPUs which support Microsoft® Windows Vista™. If you have any additions that aren't currently listed, feel free to reply with them and they will be added as soon as possible. Supported CPUs: Intel (Desktop/Server): Note: Windows Vista has been known to work with Pentium III and even some Pentium II processors, however this configuration is extremely suboptimal and the OS is practically unusable on these processors, so using at least a Pentium 4 (Prescott), plus installing Windows Vista Service Pack 2 is recommended for acceptable performance. Intel Pentium 4 (Prescott, 2004-2005) *x64 is only supported from the Pentium 4 505 Processor and newer Intel Pentium 4 Extreme Edition (Prescott, 2005) *Supports both x86 and x64 Intel Pentium 4 HT (Northwood, 2003-2004) *x86 only Intel Pentium 4 HT (Prescott, 2004-2005) *x64 is only supported by F-series, 5x1, 517, 524 and few OEM models in E-series (SL7QB, SL7Q8) Intel Pentium 4 HT (Prescott 2M, 2005) *Supports both x86 and x64 Intel Pentium 4 HT (Cedar Mill, 2006) *Supports both x86 and x64 Intel Pentium D & Pentium Extreme Edition, all models Intel Celeron, all Netburst-based models (Williamette & Northwood-128, 2002-2003) *x86 only Intel Celeron D (Prescott, 2004-2005) *x64 only supported by 3x1, 3x6, 355 models Intel Celeron D (Cedar Mill, 2006-2007) *Supports both x86 and x64 Intel Celeron *all Core-based and newer models up to Ivy Bridge based Celerons; Braswell/Haswell and later do not properly work with Vista. Supported GPUs: Intel GPUs: Intel 915GM/GMS will work with Windows Vista by using XP drivers, however Aero Glass isn't supported due to lack of WDDM drivers. Intel GMA 950 (Desktop: 945GC, 945GZ, 945G; Mobile: 945 Family) or newer, last Intel GPU to support Vista is Intel HD 4000 series (Ivy Bridge; Desktop and Mobile). Download Intel HD 4000 Graphics Drivers for Vista: 32 bit - 64 bit ATI/AMD GPUs: ATI Radeon 9250 and all later GPUs released prior to the 9500 will work with Vista using XP drivers, however Aero Glass isn't supported due to lack of WDDM drivers. ATI Radeon 9500 or later; last AMD GPU to support Vista is AMD RX 300 series; drivers are coming soon. The first official version of ATI Catalyst to support Vista is version 7.1. The last official version of AMD Catalyst to support Vista is version 13.12 (Download: 32 bit 64 bit). However, newer versions up to 15.6 Beta for Windows 7 can be modified to work on Vista. View this thread for more details. NVIDIA GPUs: NVIDIA GeForce FX 5100 and later NVIDIA GeForce 8 series to GeForce 300 series; download recommended driver here: 32 bit 64 bit NVIDIA GeForce 400 series and later; last NVIDIA GPU to officially support Vista was the GTX 980 along with driver version 365.19. Download here: 32 bit 64 bit - Note: Vista 3D Vision support was dropped around version 310.00. The GTX 1060, 1070, and 1080 can also be made to work with Vista, as driver versions up to 372.70 work with Vista, albeit not officially supported by NVIDIA. Download here: 32 bit 64 bit - Note: DirectX applications aren't properly utilized by these drivers under Windows Vista, so this will cause a bottleneck in performance over using the GTX 980 or older, where the 365.19 drivers (more optimized for Vista as they're officially supported) can be used. Final Apple Mac Computers to support Vista via Boot Camp: iMac; all Late-2009 models Macbook Air; all Mid-2009 models (32-bit only) Macbook and Macbook Pro; all Mid-2010 models Mac Mini; Mid-2010 (This is the only Mac Mini to support Windows Vista 64-bit; earlier models are 32-bit only.) IIRC, that was because Oracle decided they would no longer support the 32-bit OS architecture on JRE 9 and higher http://docs.oracle.com/javase/9/migrate/toc.htm#JSMIG-GUID-59701F80-5BB1-416D-835D-C39A9112FC1E1 point

Ah, if you never actually manually installed Shockwave, that would explain why you don't have that folder. I'm not sure when Macromedia was taken over by Adobe, but I would be surprised if it was before 2001 when XP was first released. I assume Adobe have always kept the Flash installation folder named Macromedia for backwards compatibility, in the same way that some of the Java folders are still named "Sun" many years after they were taken over by Oracle.1 point

I'm sure you would be able to pick up an Office XP CD very cheaply now on e-Bay! Assuming your original copy was kosher, the serial number from that should still work with a replacement disk. Personally I would upgrade to Office 2010, which is still in support for a while longer, you can buy genuine (I hope!) serial numbers quite cheaply now, which will come with a link to download the software. That's what I did, and it was very straightforward to do, and legal.1 point

Thank you for the information about MSVC VistaLover After installing it, the error disappeared, however, the program still does not work : As you can see, yet another artificial block implemented to keep the software from potentially working perfectly fine in Windows Vista Programs like this aren't worth the time of day, in my opinion. I recommend GIMP 2.8.22 instead of this garbage. Although GIMP no longer supports Windows Vista, it at least somewhat had merit, as it does not work in Vista due to missing Win7+ functions instead of being artificially blocked:1 point

Latest FileZilla 3.42.1 32-bit won't launch under Vista SP2 because of only one missing function in Vista's shell32.dll system file: ... and, actually, the very last Vista SP2 compatible version of FileZilla is 3.40.0-rc2, released on Jan 22nd 2019: You can download this Vista EoS version from the official repository at https://download.filezilla-project.org/client/ Final 3.40.0 was released three days later (Jan 25th 2019) but, as you've found out, it would run only on Win7+ FileZilla is open source, so perhaps one could recompile more recent source code to again target at least NT 6.0; here's hoping1 point

When I run Visual Studio 2010 on Vista while 4.6.2 Final installed, it gives me a error "The type initializer for 'Module' threw an exception." and it not starts. But when I run Visual Studio 2010 on Vista while .NET Framework 4.6.2 Preview installed, it just starts without any errors.1 point

api-ms-win-core-console-l1-1-0.dll (the module that couldn't be found and caused System.IO.FileNotFoundException) is actually part of KB2999226, aka Windows 10 Universal C Runtime (Win10UCRT), which itself is a prerequisite for Microsoft Visual C++ 2015+ on Vista SP2. Please install latest redistributable for MSVC2019 found here: https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/downloads/ (scroll down all the way to "Other Tools and Frameworks", expand, "Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable for Visual Studio 2019", download files for both 32-bit & 64-bit and install; Windows6.0-KB2999226-x86.msu is included and will be co-installed if not found in the system). The only way to be definitive about that is if you inspect executables (*.exe & *.dll) with Dependency Walker (please do so after you've installed MSVC2019)1 point

Unfortunately Python 3.5 isn't a full package, so it's not as user-friendly as the official Python 3.4.4 package is. I think you'll have to create your own Python 3.5 folder in the Start menu. Put two shortcuts in the folder you create: one to <Python 3.5 installation path>\python.exe, named Python 3.5 command line, and one to <Python 3.5 installation path>\doc\python350.chm, named Python 3.5 Manuals. Hopefully that will at least get you started.1 point

I finally managed to get also new versions of Basilisk work on windows NT 4.0 with my kernelex, now they work new versions of firefox too (up to 52.0 for now). The first release of my kernelex will be on the first term of July. Be patient, I'm working hard to get newer software and drivers working on it :)1 point

NEWS. the project is alive and I have managed to get some new browsers to work, even if I had to edited something to the pe file. Now it works (even if a little buggy): k-meleon by roytam (they work even video at 1080p on youtube but there is no audio), palemoon by roytam, seamonkey 2.33.1 and firefox 36.0... I decided to rewrite all and add the apis into the original dlls using code caves (no more api wrappers). I will release the first release in a month, for now I post some images:1 point

NEWS: I was able to load windows media player 10.... It's a little buggy because there are some missing functions I have not added yet, but now it loads1 point

Thanks, for example qupzilla 1.6.6 requires only a missing function in gdi32 (GetCharABCWidthI) and for now I have redirected it to GetCharABCWidthW. I'm going to write the function and see if it will change something. BTW yes I have a plan to do something even for windows NT 3.51 in the future, but for now I will focus on windows NT 4.01 point

Seems font width measuring API returning 0 here. This happens when I port QtWeb to NT4. BTW will you do the same for but NT 3.51? It seems more interesting (and challenging, as missing Winsock2)1 point

List of software I would recommend -Google Chrome 13 or earlier, maybe experiment with BWC's older Chrome tool. Apparently this once even worked on 9x w/ KernelEx, sadly it's unknown which version allowed Google Chrome to run and which version. -Dooble Browser 1.4.0 (Last version working with w2k, Qt4 based) -Qupzilla 1.6.6 or earlier (Qt4)1 point
