I have a VBS script, if anyone is interested, that does all the XP, Vista, and 7 Windows Updates including Net Frameworks, and does all "CAB, EXE, MSU, and MSP files. It also detects which ones have already been installed and ignores them. .and it works in XP, Vista, and 7. It has functions for searching subfolders as well. Very efficient. I'm not sure if anyone has posted this anywhere or not, but I feel its a better installer than the installer available on MEGA. I found it in a forum a year ago or so and I use it for all the Windows Server 2008 updates that work on Vista both x86 & x64, all versions. I am more than willing to share this. You will not require WSUS Offline Update as long as you know what updates you need and have already downloaded them into a folder. Since that MEGA account has been kind enough to supply these updates for Vista users everywhere, I feel strongly that this script should replace that existing one thats in there, since this does ALL updates that you have downloaded already. I am brand new today here and this is the reason I signed up, to provide this updater to everyone. It is free, with no permission requirements whatsoever..it is just an amazing *.VBS script. My apologies if this script has already been uploaded or if anyone else knows about it. But if not, ENJOY! Many thanks! Update: Wanted to add that the interface you can run with a windows command prompt, but it does not provide a realtime view like the one on MEGA. It creates MicrosoftUpdatesInstall.log instead right in the root folder and I always just make a shortcut to the log file on my desktop and doubleclick every once in a while to view the progress. If anyone could make it to watch the updates in a command prompt in real time, have at it, and please don't forget to share! InstallUpdatesh.Vbs_.vbs1 point

Yes, the "New content begins here" marker is very useful when you click on the last page number, but it would be better still if it did what it did before, where you just had to click on the thread title and it would automatically take you to the last post that you looked at in that thread, not to the very first post in the thread, which on some threads is ancient of course! I suspect that you're right, that the necessary data is still being stored, but the forum software is not now using it for some reason.1 point

Glad you solved it. I forgot that the option may vary or even not exist under different desktop environments. I only use KDE3 or Trinity, which are not common these days.1 point

OK, I can think of a couple: Roytam1's port of Pale Moon, called New Moon Ports of various experimental browsers by the makers of Pale Moon, also ported by Roytam1 Chrome360, which is somewhat shady, but appears to be more or less equivalent to official Chrome 69 There are probably more, but these are among the most useful and important ones that I know of. c1 point

Actually, Chrome 360 was in English the whole time for me for some reason. The default search page was chinese however which was kind of tricky to get fixed, but with Google set to default, I've gotta say it works surprisingly well. What surprised me the most was actually that according to @win32 it works even on Windows 2000 - an nearly two decade old operating system running a browser from late 2018. That's flabbergasting.1 point

Chrome 360 installs itself in "%USERPROFILE%\Local Settings\Application Data\360Chrome", instead of in "%PROGRAMFILES%\360Chrome", as usual. Besides that and having to find out one has to select 显示为空白页 and deselect the other two options on the settings of the "New Tab" page to get a blank "New Tab" page, instead of that annoying Chinese search page , I think it's working great. So there's one more relatively recent browser working on XP. This is good news indeed! Thanks @Windows 2000, you rock!1 point

I figured it reads group policy settings from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Edge, while Chrome reads them from HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Google\Chrome. I haven't found policy definition files for Edge specifically, they might be released in the future, but I can confirm the registry settings for forcing/denying Incognito/InPrivate Mode and the ones for allowing/blocking Flash Player on certain sites do work. I'm not aware of any ability to tweak such parameters, AFAIK there's only the stuff that you can turn on or off on edge://flags page. This would probably require the UI to be implemented differently than it is in order to have the ability to change that. It's possible in Vivaldi with CSS tweaks.1 point

Both updates for the kernel, KB446103 (ntfs.sys v5.1.2600.7581, ntkrnlmp.exe v5.1.2600.7581, ntkrnlpa.exe v5.1.2600.7581, ntkrpamp.exe v5.1.2600.7581, ntoskrnl v5.1.2600.7581), and KB4486463 (ntkrpamp.exe v5.1.2600.7649). The error 0x80072EE7 also occurs again on WU / MU in Internet Explorer (currently only temporary).1 point

Are they kernel updates? If so, they may need to be installed with the /overwriteoem switch on your system, using the downloaded installation files. They have to be on one of my systems or they keep coming back as they haven't actually installed properly. Not sure why they would have come back if you had them installed before though.1 point

Not in my opinion. Although the more paranoid may eschew it, I do believe the more browser alternatives we have, the merrier! In fact, to me it's clear that day-to -day use requires just a decently working browser and, preferably, also a not-too-paranoid real-time antivirus. All the rest can be done without any need to use the very latest version of whatever program one must use. So Chrome 360 actually is a welcome gust of much needed fresh air into our already very claustrophobic EoS-is-not-EoL situation. Long Live XP!1 point
