... And you originally thought you wouldn't be able to fix my reported GitHub bug! This is superb We now have a fully working GitHub in latest New Moon 27, just out of the box! ... And to think that Tobin person () had the cheek to call you a lazy "developer"... Your actions speak volumes for themselves, can't stress enough how satisfied I am as a user of your builds!!! May God keep you blessed3 points

totally agree with every single word. the main target for experienced hackers attacks is the most used OS that's why WannaCry and other well known ransomware viruses started through W7 based computers. I have been recently asked by a software maker why am I still using XP... as I don't use any antivirus I actually don't care if the POSready updates will no longer be available within 5 months. I just am afraid if the FF addons ever get removed from their site so I need to find a way to back up them all https://www.trishtech.com/2018/10/use-older-firefox-extensions-through-classic-add-ons-archive/ I have pretty much found software alternatives for my needs so I can live with XP for a long time ahead.2 points

Microsoft Update offered me two suppsedly important updates for Office 2010 on Windows XP a couple of days ago, KB2863821 and KB4461522. They installed fine, but the next day I came to use Word, and it would not run, with the error message - Application popup: winword.exe - Entry Point Not Found : The procedure entry point GetDateFormatEx could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll. This was followed by "The operating system is not presently configured to run this application". I quickly found that no Office programs would now run, with the same error messages. I removed the two updates, and all returned to normal. I have no idea which of the updates caused the problem, and I haven't been offered either of them again so far, but if you are offered them, beware as they may well completely break your Office installation!1 point

Askwoody.com reported windows 7 update had issues when not installing Servicing Stack Update from 2016. It was optional back then, now It's mandatory. also, Microsoft took down and re-uploaded KB4462923 security Rollup, because there were some bugs in it. https://www.askwoody.com/2018/win7-monthly-rollup-kb-4462923-updated-and-rolled-out-again/ What I'd try, is to use System Restore Point and roll back to the point form before October 2018 patches were applied on your machine. After that, re-run Windows update, it should find updates automatically. I hope it should. If you don't have a restore point that Old, try to uninstall November 2018 and October 2018 patches and try to update your system again. Obviously, do a full backup before playing with Windows Update. use any program available and they should work... Even the one embedded into Windows 7 should do it's job ------------------------- +1 There are three groups of people: Those who do a backup, those that does not, and those that are about to learn they are doing their backups badly. Hopefully, when the need came, I found myself in group #1, which makes me a bit proud.1 point

I agree!! So long as this system is working I see no logical reason to just junk it. Just be cautious is all. There still (and will be for a while) are good software alternatives to use with XP. Just stick with New Moon and you can't go wrong. Even if I do get hacked, Acronis True Image will get me back to right where I am as I write this posting. Mainly your IP is all and avoid shady sites and you should be fine. Thanks you roytam1 for your hard work and worry not about haters!1 point

Hmm. Looks like usual MUI problem on the English version of Windows XP SP3 after updating xpsp2res.dll It can be easily fixed. Open registry editor regedit.exe then navigate to [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\MUILanguages\FileVersions\XXXX\xpsp2res.dll] (where XXXX - Lithuanian language code). You should change all REG_DWORD:00000000 values here to REG_DWORD:00000001 (Just be careful and do not rush!). Then close registry editor and restart your system.1 point

There will be no harm in installing this on a SE computer. Setup will simply not overwrite the files if the ones that come with Win98SE are newer than the ones inside the exe. You might see a popup similar to this: Just answer yes to each popup you will encounter. No need to fear AFAIK: No version of the exe was made specifically for SE, but this is not the first time that has happened, for instance, the DCOM98 exe is not made for SE specifically, yet it does no harm when installed in SE.1 point

Aero Glass 1.5.9.1479 working very solidly for me here with a reasonably well-tweaked Win 10 v1809 (with no Apps). I've noticed the performance seems better than with past debug versions. Big Muscle, did you add some optimization? Whatever you did, thanks; it's quite pleasant to work with. Thank you,. https://Noel.ProDigitalSoftware.com/ForumPosts/Win10/17763/Win10DesktopWithAG.png -Noel1 point

Once everything is done, you'll find the binaries in "Build/Windows/x64". Please note that these binaries WILL NOT work on Windows XP/Vista x64. In order to make them work, you gotta disable more things, not just d3d11 and dxva2. For instance, VistaLover said that libmfx breaks XP as well, but I don't know what else. Besides, compiling ffmpeg to make it work on XP/Vista has become trickier with time. Last time I did it was a year ago; I have used Corone's build ever since. Your best shot is asking @CoRoNe what must be disabled. Cheers and regards.1 point

I didn't realize how old this thread was. Is this the best place to post for Windows Phone? I want to avoid iOS and Android like the plague.1 point

The Windows 7/8/10 Fanbois are trying to kill off XP because they think one size fits all. That's why I love MSFN, because even though we're a very diverse community when it comes to OS usage, you're very likely to find a few people here with the knowledge you want and seek. I wonder what those fanbois would think if they knew some of us still used 98 on a daily basis. But if worse ever came to worse, I'd more than likely hop to XP before I'd go up to the Windows NT 6 range, most of those are rubbish OSs to me in my opinion.1 point
