I tried to play a music video which I downloaded from YouTube with the h.264 codec in the mp4 format. A standard format, so to speak. It was downloaded with my ytBATCH for Windows XP and processed with ffmpeg 7.1 to embed subtitle, metadata and a thumbnail. It can be played with all players, even with ffplay except your recent version 8.2. ffplay immediately closes when trying to play this video. Why did you scale down to basic? Your previous releases have really been fine. In my opinion, the only thing which can happen is that scaling down results in problems playing some kind of videos. BTW, I asked you in a previous post whether you also could add ffplay to your static releases. Is that possible for you?

Right-click > "Save Link As..." works for me on XP. Tested with Serpent52/55, NM28 and MP68. Will probably also work with Supermium, Thorium and forks by e3kskoy7wqk.

Win11 Experimental (Dev), currently 26300.8758 (but with the last build or two also). v3.9.23 (possibly also v3.9.22). Started 2-3 weeks ago. A few days after booting (I boot maybe every 4-7 days, so I've seen this happen about 3 times now), I'm seeing Start/Run do this. It's new behavior this month, but the position of the taskbar, my color scheme (dark), nor any SaB settings have been changed for a very long time (not this year). You can actually see all the items, but only one at a time as you cursor down the list. Normally, the dropdown is not white and you can see everything right away and continually.

I just got bitten by this thing. Normally, when you log in the site sets a cookie that will keep you logged in. As long as you connect often enough, you never have to log back in again. But I guess I went too long, so I had to log in again. Problem is, my browser remembered my user name, not my email address. (That's how long it had been since I logged in last.) And I couldn't remember which email address I had used when I originally signed up! So I was forced to just guess. Luckily, I guessed right (or you wouldn't be seeing this post). But that's a problem. I've had several email addresses over the years and some of them aren't even valid any more. Mutemail.com went belly-up and clear.com got bought out and shut down by Sprint (before Sprint themselves got bought out and shut down by T-Mobile). From the above, I take it the change was made to deal with spam (although I'm not clear how it helps with that, but evidently it does). But there needs to be a way to deal with forgotten email addresses. Perhaps a page where you can enter your user ID, password, and your current email address (maybe with a captcha), and get your old email address emailed back to you, or a link to reset it to the current one. Otherwise you're stuck creating a brand-new account and losing all your settings.

I'm back. R3dfox worked, but good grief. I had to click the stupid "I am human" box. No more automated downloads. What really bites is that I had a nice .bat file that would automatically download the list of files from the appropriate directory at o.rthost.win, find the newest, automatically download that file, back up the old version, extract the new one, and apply all my browser customizations, all with just a few keystrokes. Now that's all been thrown out the window!

Ultimate irony: the Cloudflare security checks block me from downloading Serpent with wget any more. I just get "403 Forbidden." Nor can I even use an old Serpent version to download the newest version! Apparently I'll have to use R3dfox to download Serpent now...? At least I'm on Win 7 and can use R3dfox, but what's an XP user to do now? Have I mentioned lately how much I hate AI? Not because I don't find it useful, but because everybody and their God damned dog is trying to scrape the entire World Wide Web to train their damned AI, necessitating all these damned security checks.

You must be trying to play a format that doesn't have a demuxer and/or decoder built-in. The current builds are scaled down to basic so the avcodec is naturally much smaller, with support for fewer codecs. If you let me know what you are trying to play I can try to add the necessary demuxer/decoder. Also, the current builds have no cryptography library.

I have tested your releases. ffplay is only working under Windows XP in your package ffmpeg-8.1-1643-abb1524138-win32-shared-xpmod-P4.7z but not in ffmpeg-8.2-1568-b355200263-win32-shared-xpmod-P4.7z. I compared some file sizes and noticed that your avcodec-62.dll was reduced from 65.668.622 Bytes to only 18.681.870 Bytes. I think there is a lot missing.

That hotfix sounds exactly like what I want! I learned a bit more: - Vista won't boot after NT 4 booting - I have a startup check disk limiter on each of my operating systems (simple .reg file I made to make the startup autocheck only do the C: drive) and I hadn't done it to XP yet, and XP tried to chkdsk each of the drives NT 4 can access, telling me that NT 4 is the issue, not 7. Basically that NTFS hotfix sounds perfect. Currently I bricked NT 4 (new startup error) because i tried installing partition magic 4.0 and for some reason it broke the software registry so I have to fix that, but I'll get back soon when I get that update installed Again, thanks so much for the help, I really appreciate it! EDIT: I really cannot find that update. I'll keep looking but help on where to find it would be much appreciated! IoT is a branded Embedded SKU. It is bit-different than regular Enterprise but I do not know what is functionally different. It doesn't have the Store for example. Notification Mode means that the OS will Notify that it isn't activated. This happens if you don't put in an activation key, or the OS can't get to the internet after install, or something broke activation like a driver or system file damage, etc.

Maybe a late update doesn't count. Demetrius2003 expects that the system will be bricked with this update. That is why I never install updates unless they fix a specific problem and don't touch other areas. Just extracting advapi32.dll from it is not enough.

In my opinion, the script is messed up with fixes and overloaded. No human programmer would incorporate so many control and blocking variables: play_guard, play_busy, play_busy_time, pending_play_id, pending_play_url, pending_play_22 and last_played_url. And then your "TINY JSON DECODER". A lot of it is probably just your AI resorting to desperate measures. That’s probably also the reason why your script has suddenly increased in length by 50%. BTW, my ytsearch.lua script is just 12.5 KB (and this value could be reduced again by removing my big header) in size compared to your size of 60.5 KB. I think you need to recreate it from scratch by your AI and keep it as minimalist as possible. Don’t let the AI fix its own fixes with further fixes! At some point, you and your AI took a wrong turn, and your AI won’t be able to find its way back on its own. Humans question themselves, AIs do not. You understand what I mean? In such a process, you have to lead and to control your AI, of course.

@panda_zzz I ran a quick analysis of your script using my AI, and it came to similar conclusions: Thread blocking: No asynchronous processing; VLC waits rigidly for console files. API misuse: Inappropriate use of w_sub_lang:get_text() in the critical playback path. Fragile file operations: Over-reliance on temporary .bat and .txt files in the Windows Temp directory without adequate access checks (race conditions).

Me personally, I would use the Windows 10 USB/HID driver on the Windows 11 installation. No guarantee, but my hunch is that solves it. At bare minimum, can you at least tell us the driver DETAILS that are being used in each installation? This ( https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/drivergrabber.html ) should be able to "copy" the Win10 driver so that you can install it on Win11.
