Update. I still cannot do a screencap yet (new computer does not get internet connectivity until *after* I get the OS rebuilt to my "liking"). I installed Supermium v126 R7 inside a Win10 VM on my new Intel Core Ultra 7 and Supermium v126 does *NOT* have the font-indent issue. This issue is DEFINITELY hardware-related and it has ALWAYS existed (all versions of Supermium except maybe the most recent) on my 17/18yr old Intel Core2 Quad Q6700. And yeah, bad habit, but I always reference my computers by their CPU and not their GPU. I kind of doubt that I will bring the Q6700 back to life just for the sake of a font-indent issue screencap on old-versus-new Supermium. A font-indent issue that was present both "direct" and "inside a VM" on the Q6700 but does *not* effect (affect?) my new hardware.

Flash 9 not working on NT 4.0? (consolidated thread)
reboot12 replied to ironman14's topic in Windows 2000/2003/NT4
@Leokids123 It cannot be that the language version of the operating system affects the operation of the program - that would be stupid. I checked the Flash 9 286 (patched) plugin and it works without in the same OS but on real Haswell hardware: The problem is probably the Ivy Bridge processor. I cannot also install Mac OS X in VMware on a host PC with an Ivy Bridge processor. -
Update: I got 54.0a1 (2017-02-14) to work and that's the highest version that I'm able to launch. Later version launchs for a split second before crashing, I have not fixed the issue yet.

Recently I have tried running Firefox 53+ on my Windows ME VM, turns out it can launch with XP dlls + either Vista 5112 or ReactOS (2014) DWMAPI, but with this method I can't launch 54.0a1 (2017-02-10) as the DLL is not sufficent enough. Vista SP2/One-Core-API DWMAPI.DLL freezes the whole browser during start so I don't want to bother with that. I tried the safer way by using the KnownDLLs + LZ32 method, I redirected DWMAPI to LZ32 and added the following functions on my Kstub.ini: This way I managed to get 54.0a1 (2017-02-10) working and also for the February 11th version I think AVRT.DLL was mentioned here but I do not want to try experimenting with Windows Vista/7+ dlls so I did the same to AVRT.DLL and added these stubs to LZ32 (Kstub.ini): And now Firefox 54.0a1 (2017-02-11) works fine at least in firefox safe mode, normal mode does not want to launch for some reason. (Update: Normal mode works fine after some tests): Though the font looks kinda weird. (I think this also happened on XP OCAPI at some point) Also I can't get 54.0a1 (2017-02-15) to work, a splash of window appears for a second. But it does launch. Also FYI I disabled e10s in about:config. Sure these versions are a crapshoot for Windows 9x + KernelEx, but I really like to push KernelEx to it's limits, also I'm curious about the state of Mypal68 on Windows 9x + KernelEx. Does it still crashes with RaiseException=v4? Since you mentioned that it's related to RaiseException, also I wonder if the implementation of NT SEH (correct me if I'm wrong) is even possible in KernelEx. I don't think returning v4/GetLastError is enough.

Oh, I should also point out that the old Q6700 also had recent issues with WebGL. Or shall I say what a few here at MSFN perceived as possible WebGL. BUT... If one digs further into MapQuest (one of two web sites being tested at the time), it does *NOT* technically use WebGL. Per AI enquiries - "MapQuest.js, integrates with Leaflet.js, which primarily uses standard web technologies like Canvas and DOM rendering, rather than relying fundamentally on WebGL for its core functionality."

I never dived into any. I do not keep Supermium around and only ever run it from inside VM's that have never seen Supermium until the run. So always brand new profile, directly as-is from the distributed .zip, never the .exe. Again, I may have been one version off as I didn't notice until yesterday that there is a very recent new version which may or may not have the font non-indent first letter half-missing. I may grab a screencap eventually, even if only found in older versions, so that others know what to look for. But... Um... Very, very low priority...
-
OK, no problem! FWIW I've looked at the dropdowns in Supermium, the address bar, the bookmarks, the settings, and things like the bookmark bar popups, and all the font positions look fine. Anywhere else I should check? I guess it's perhaps an issue that only happens with some OS graphics settings.

KB2839299_2003 derived fltMgr upgrade that it is not...
Multibooter replied to modnar's topic in Windows XP
I have now installed fltmgr.sys build 5107 also under WinXP SP3 on my i7 desktop computer, by booting into Win10 and then copying fltmgr.sys onto the WinXP partition. fltmgr.sys build 5107 works fine on the 3.4GHz i7 desktop under WinXP SP3 and WinXP feels a little crisper The updated fltmgr.sys is a must-have for slow computers under WinXP, and a nice-to-have for WinXP on fast computers. The remaining question now is: Which build of fltmgr.sys is the best one for WinXP SP3? -

Nothing was damaged. This is because I use the same SFXCAB installer that Microsoft uses when distributing Updates. The file is still normal. 7z or WinRAR are not useful because I create compressed files. -
Looking for IntelliType Pro 1.2 Standalone Installer for Windows Me
iMic replied to iMic's topic in Windows 9x/ME
Pretty much as I discovered - I checked the three main Microsoft mirrors (mssjus, mschus and msvaus) with port 80 specified but had no hits on the Wayback Machine there either. 2.22 certainly does work on Millennium edition, and that's in the archive already, as is v1.1 for 95/98. If I could just find 1.2 English for Millennium, it would complete the set. In any case, I'll have a look at that Italian version as well, just in case the installer files can be used somehow. -
I am a registered member, and visiting a thread with 0 views does not count my visit. So, your theory is wrong. BTW, even not registered visitors were counted in the past. All that means something has changed in the forum software, and unfortunately not for the better.

I personally like "numbers". Browser benchmarks, CPU benchmarks, forum post view counts, read counts, and even REPUTATION POINTS are *IMPORTANT*. ***BUT*** MSFN has proven that "reputation points" are *NOTHING* more than a "game" that people here play EACH AND EVERY DAY. I've come to see them as *FINE ART*. We have members NO LONGER active members whose "rep points" have TRIPLED now that they are NO LONGER ACTIVE MEMBERS. Look up the "value" of fine art *after* the artist or author passes on. I just sit back and laugh. And ramble about it every once in a while.

Thank you, @MilkChan for these two builds. 7-zip and WinZip here says the second, SSE2 update is corrupt - would you mind updating the archive, please? Thank you, @Multibooter for testing. The funniest thing now is upon re-configuration of my mini-filters, my system works better than ever before with the 5512 XPSP3 fltmgr and filter cascade. I also put TimeOutValue = 3c (60) (s) DWORD before minifilter re-config in my "disk" service (CurrControlSet) that for some reason did not exist in my harkaz-updated SP2 (to uSP4) XP. That might have had the most to do with it... -
I'm not certain, but for some reason I believe that the Views is only increased when a registered member (aka not a guest) visits a thread. I may be wrong about that, I don't have another Invision forum to compare against. I know that on SMF, anyone (including guest) counts towards views.

At least i have a CPU with SSE support,so i can run it. And i don't think SSE is the issue here,it could be the language... -
Even a thread with only one reply can be very interesting and be read many times. I am interested in how often an article is visited. It doesn't matter who it is. Bots are everywhere and can never be ruled out. Perhaps bots are commonplace in your country. After all, anything is possible there these days. However, I am convinced that it is quite frustrating for creators of new threads when supposedly no one reads their threads. Apart from that, I have never noticed any unusual increases of views in my threads.

My Browser Builds (Part 5)
roytam1 replied to roytam1's topic in Browsers working on Older NT-Family OSes
aaah, no clue whats wrong here: 0:26.17 c:/devel/myUXP/intl/icu/source/i18n/messageformat2_function_registry.cpp(862): error C2280: 'icu_78::message2::StandardFunctions::Plural::Plural(const icu_78::message2::StandardFunctions::Plural &)': attempting to reference a deleted function 0:26.17 c:\devel\myuxp\intl\icu\source\i18n\messageformat2_function_registry_internal.h(248): note: compiler has generated 'icu_78::message2::StandardFunctions::Plural::Plural' here 0:26.17 c:\devel\myuxp\intl\icu\source\i18n\messageformat2_function_registry_internal.h(248): note: 'icu_78::message2::StandardFunctions::Plural::Plural(const icu_78::message2::StandardFunctions::Plural &)': function was implicitly deleted because a data member invokes a deleted or inaccessible function 'icu_78::LocalPointer<icu_78::message2::StandardFunctions::Number>::LocalPointer(const icu_78::LocalPointer<icu_78::message2::StandardFunctions::Number> &)' 0:26.17 c:\devel\myUXP\intl\icu\source\common\unicode/localpointer.h(343): note: 'icu_78::LocalPointer<icu_78::message2::StandardFunctions::Number>::LocalPointer(const icu_78::LocalPointer<icu_78::message2::StandardFunctions::Number> &)': function was implicitly deleted because 'icu_78::LocalPointer<icu_78::message2::StandardFunctions::Number>' has a user-defined move constructor and v141_xp seems to be not good enough to build ICU 78. EDIT: got it fixed, -std:c++17 is needed by new ICU, so vc2015 branch will no longer be buildable as ICU can't be skipped. EDIT2: the above error is solved by adding a copy-ctr line in localpointer.h, all changes are in https://github.com/roytam1/UXP/commit/9f6727874f81bf98ef3f54f046d14c6c5cfdc20f , and hope I did it right. I think I can make a special release tomorrow! And now I have a newer-than-mypal ICU and feodor2 may have a look? -
Or are we trying to count how many times a "bot" stumbles upon an MSFN Thread ???
-
Technically... Counting replies is legit. But counting views also counts "bots" and not real "people". At least on many other forums. The "view" count is meaningless and misleading. REPLIES on the other hand can be considered an "important tool for the author of an article".

This seems to indicate that the forum software is not functioning correctly. Is that right? I visited topics in the Windows XP forum with 0 views that were not counted by the forum software. And my topics don't seem to be counted anymore either. It is clear that accurate view counting is an important tool for the author of an article. Therefore, I hope that this will be working again soon.

KB2839299_2003 derived fltMgr upgrade that it is not...
MilkChan replied to modnar's topic in Windows XP
info here It states that : Sometimes Microsoft released builds referred to as “Escrow”. Escrow means the development of a branch gets stopped and the code is being tested. If Microsoft or its testers don’t discover any serious bugs (“showstoppers”), the current build becomes the final milestone (usually RC or RTM, but sometimes there are also beta escrow builds). Escrow builds are usually handed out to TAP (Technology Adoption Program) testers, ISVs, IHVs, etc. http://www.windowswiki.info/2010/01/10/what-does-idsidw-mean-and-what-are-escrow-builds/ -
