Windows Genuine Advantage Validation is now at version 1.5.716.0 (KB892130)

Does anyone know where to get the complete installer?

I have the installer for an older version 1.5.530.0

I did manage to find the updated LegitCheckControl.dll on RyanVM's page.

So I created a switchless installer that will install 1.5.530.0 and then update the file to 1.5.716.0, it will also add the appropriate entries into the registry. Credit goes to RyanVM, this is based on his work. I just packaged it.

To use this, just add it to your SVCPack Folder and add a line to svcpack.inf to execute it at T13

I have not test it yet, so let me know if there are any problems.

Download it at

http://www.sendspace.com/file/gyqn70

If the link is broken, send me a PM

If anyone finds a full install of KB892130 - 1.5.716.0, please let us (me) know.

*** Edit ***

Just tested it on Virtual Machine. It is working fine. No problems when trying to download Windows Media Player 11.

@the_guy

Please check Your last post against what You added in the first "UPDATE LOG" concerning the WinXP SP2 entries... I do not think they match...

Big Thanx in advance

the_guy: Are you sure KB885835 is replaced by KB924270 for XP?

MS Bulletin says:

Windows XP Service Pack 2 -> MS06-040: Replaced (only KB921883).

Regards ;)

if you look at the files replaced by the older update KB914389 with the addition of the update KB924270 you will see that between the 2 updates the files in KB885835 are all replaced by newer ones between these 2 fixes

@ponghy: compare the binaries in MS06-030/070 and MS04-044. Are there any files in MS04-044 that aren't included in the newer updates?

@Sonic: I added 922760 for Win2k SP4, which doesn't support IE7. I added in the changelog for XP SP2, though. Will remove now.

Hi everybody!

Just to be sure. My pre-WMP11 hotfix were these:

WindowsMedia10-KB902344-x86-INTL.exe

WindowsMedia10-KB911565-v2-x86-ITA.exe

WindowsMedia10-KB917734-x86-ITA.exe

WindowsMedia-KB891122-x86-ITA.exe

WindowsMedia-KB911564-x86-ITA.exe

Today I installed a new XP copy with all the post SP2 hotfixes and WMP11 integrated (thanks to nLite and to Windows Media Player 11 Integrator B) ). I didn't integrate the hotfixes I wrote up because I thought that with WMP11 they weren't necessary.

Instead, after installation, Windows Update makes me download WindowsMedia10-KB911565-v2-x86-ITA and WindowsMedia-KB911564-x86-ITA, and not the other three ones.

So I'd like to know exactly what hotfixes (between those five I wrote) should I keep and what hotfixes could I eliminate from my PC for my future installations.

Thank you! ;)

if you integrate wmp11, only kb911564 is needed, because it upgrades an XP file, no matter what version of wmp you have installed.

request of kb911565 is a MS bug: read posts #12 and #14
