HOTFIXES: Win2000 SP4, WinXP SP2, WinXP SP3 and Win2003 SP2

  • 2 weeks later...

I had some odd problems after integrating these hotfixes (925398, 927891, 939373, on xp sp2, wmp10, ie6) to my last unattended cd.

Installation was going quite well but daemon-tools v3.47 (^^), for the first time in years, didn't install, even when launch afterwards on the fresh install. Then I tried to install nero (not slipstreamed, but on the new install), the trial package (v7.10.1.0 from nero.com) just crashed everytime, especially when executing msi (first it decompress the 7z archive and then launch the ms installer, I checked with process explorer several times).

It drove me mad as the rest of the unattended installation seemed to look normal (aside of d-tools). Then I also had problems patching supreme commander, wich also use msi, now :angry: .

I didn't test any further and made an unattended cd without the last 3 hotfixes I mentionned, and I can now install nero and patch supcom ^^.

I have to make some more testing to clarify.

:whistle:

Your list is missing the following for Windows XP:
  • KB917159
  • KB917344
  • KB917537
  • KB920214
  • KB922819
  • KB924496
  • KB926247
  • KB928843
  • KB929123

Many of these affect other operating systems, but I did not check to see if they were listed for other operating systems. I hope this helps.

KB917159->replaced

KB917344->included in IE7

KB917537->IIS update, not installed by default on XP

KB920214->replaced

KB922819->it's in the list

KB924496->replaced

KB926247->SNMP update, not installed by default on XP

KB928843->replaced (same file version as KB935448)

KB929123->it's in the list

927357 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927357/), which fixed the RunOnceEx problem, is not included in the cummulative IE7 update 933566 (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933566).

The fix was contained in the now obsolete 928090 cummulative update (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928090/). Consequently, RunOnceEx is (again) not working anymore. Which IE7 fix should be used now to keep that fix?

KB927891 is related to msi instaler try not to integrate it.

@the_guy: Please mark this hotfix as problematic. It is now confirmed.

Does anybody know if it's possible to integrate the new WMP hotfix into WMP install file ? I don't use "WMP integrator" software because it doesn't work here, so i use RunOnceEx to install it.

For now, i use the following commands :

REG ADD %KEY%65 /VE /D "Windows media player 11 (fr)" /f

REG ADD %KEY%65 /V 1 /D "%CDDRIVE%\Apps\WMP\Install.exe /q:A /c:\"setup_wm.exe /Q /R:N DisallowSystemRestore\"" /f

REG ADD %KEY%65 /V 2 /D "%CDDRIVE%\Apps\WMP\KB936782.exe /quiet /norestart /nobackup" /f

But Windows Update doesn't see KB936782 installed at first boot. The yellow stuff in the systray appears (but disappears later, odd).

Thank you.

FWIW, I got offered on Windows Update in addition to what was listed.

933579 - msxml6

936181 - msxml4 connected to 933579

Both are related to the 936021 patch already listed. (security patches for the same issue)

And I can't get a download page/link for 937143, the page Microsoft has linked is not available.

Remove KB925902 by KB938829 (gdi32.dll) for WinXP SP2

KB938829 is not only gdi32.dll, it has additional two files that are not replaced by any other updates: mf3216.dll and user32.dll . And another one (win32k.sys) that is updated by something else.
