My current set up gets me a 5.4 in Vista Ultimate 32bit, and it seems just fine to me.

Dual core Opteron at 2.5g, 2gb ram, 8800gts, 1x250gb boot, 2x500 storage on a DFI Lan Party Expert

Attached is the screenshot of the performance. Not quite sure how vista measures the cpu. Also I haven't seen anyone with a score in any one item > 5.9

System Specs:

Intel Core 2 Duo E6850 @ 3.0ghz (no overclock)

EVGA NF68-A1

2x 4gb pairs of Patriot Extreme. 5-5-5-12 (8gb total)

MSI Geforce 8800Ultra 768mb

2x Samsung Spinpoint 500gb drives in Raid 0

I got a score of 5.3

Processor: 5.3

Memory : 5.9

Graphics: 5.9

Gaming: 5.8

HDD: 5.7

Lowest score was the processor which is a AMD FX-62 (Stock). 5.3 is normal for this processor running at stock speed.

Before uninstalling Vista and going back to XP I did check the performance index score on my Toshiba Satellite a100-803 and got a 3.1 with the intel gm 945. The rest of the components scored pretty good.
