Acheron Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 I noticed KB975254 isn't installed after setting up IIS on Windows XP Professional with the FTP-service enabled. Even after testing with HFSLIP 1.7.0 A I get this error. For now installing the update manually does the job but it would be even better if support for this security update was added to HFSLIP
Kiki Burgh Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) hi acheron, hi tp! i actually checked on this (in my last build using 1.7.9) ... tried installing IIS with FTP & WWW sub-components added & i was able to install it completely ... it's found too in HFSLP277.INF (i386) ... used WinUpdatesList by Nirsoft & it shows it as installed ... however, i accessed WU & it shows as an update needed to be installed ... hmm ... tommyp Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Can someone move the ftpsvc2.dll from sys32 to the sys32\inetsrv folder and revisit WU and see what happens?

fz500 Posted January 13, 2010 Posted January 13, 2010 Use the hfslip-1.7.10 _beta_A amalgamated with the name of a file is too long to fit to the original CD PORTABLEDEVICECLASSEXTENSION.DL_ > PORTABLEDEVICECLASSEXTENSIO.DL_ during the installation process will be short of archives, but if you set the disc format to long file names is available, but it just perfect

tommyp Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Kiki - Thanks for the info, but you had provided the info I need a few days back when you moved the file. For some reason, that particular hotfix adds a new file to the OS. For me, that only means that the HF is not needed. To all - New beta is up. Test away and report back. I can't make a final until I hear more (or even some) feedback.
Acheron Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 (edited) I have tested beta B and I notice ftpsvc2.dll is placed in system32\inetsrv directory. However as this is dll is part of an optional component this file shouldn't be there at all. If I continue to install IIS afterwards the dll is replaced with the original insecure version. After investigation of the iis.inf install file ftpsvc2.dll is actually renamed from ftpsv251.dll. So to succesfully integrate KB975254 replace ftpsv251.dl_ in I386 directory. Edited January 16, 2010 by Acheron
tommyp Posted January 16, 2010 Posted January 16, 2010 Thanks for investigating the error Acheron. New beta is posted up.
Kiki Burgh Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 Thanks for investigating the error Acheron. New beta is posted up.Beta C - Acheron set me straight with the processing of the IIS fix. Thanks!my apologies if presentation above was misleading (beta b as outcome). thanks for the more updated beta.
Acheron Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 I'm sorry but BETA C still doesn't solve the issue. ftpsvc2.dll is now added to the I386 folder and still doesn't replace ftpsv251.dll.
tommyp Posted January 17, 2010 Posted January 17, 2010 (edited) Thanks again dude. I found a typo. All should be fixed now, or at least I hope it is. Edited January 17, 2010 by tommyp
My2GirlsDad Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Just created my Win2k HFSLIP CD with:UPHClean-Setup.msi in HFGUIRUNONCE2kDNF11SP120SP2.exe in HFSVCPACKWindows2000-KB958470-x86-ENU.EXE in HFSVCPACK_SW1Silverlight3.exe in HFSVCPACK_SW2All went well except MU wanted Windows2000-KB973904-x86-ENU.EXE even though I put it in HF.It appears that mswrd6.wpc, mswrd8.wpc, write.wpc are not updated in Program Files/Windows NT/Accessories. Is this a bug or is this suppose to go in a different folder?M2GD
tommyp Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 My2GirlsDad - A thread was started the other day on this same issue. Long story short, it was discovered that the hotfix isn't really supported by hfslip because WU is expecting new files on your PC. A suitable workaround is to use the HFSVCPACK_SW1 folder. I sent FDV an update for the 2k hotfix list yesterday that says the same.
My2GirlsDad Posted January 20, 2010 Posted January 20, 2010 Thanks for the reply tommyp.I will put in HFSVCPACK_SW1 folder as you suggest. Thanks for all your hard work. I do appreciate it as this is a great tool.M2GD
