Integrating Windows Update V6

Recommended Posts

i believe the regsvr thingy is to enable "automatic update" to be added as a service. still have to confirm if this is applicable all the time... RyanVM may have the answer :)

as for the update agent app, it seems a very attractive option, that is unless you're lacking cd space, then the recompressed 1.3mb wu6 update may still be a viable option.

the update agent works very well also, after removing unneeded files and making

a SFX, it's 1.65mb and installs silently, then defaults to windows update v6...........

thanks brosy for the heads up............

@BoardBabe

Shark007's method :

Copy/paste the file into your I386 cd directly, copy the Wusp2.dll in x:\$OEM$\$$\system32\

and in your cmdlines.txt run the regsvr32 command ...

I have prepared my cd but not yet tested ...

Goodbye.

@sonic: Ah ofcourse cmdlines.txt is the best place to run the regsrv. How do I run it from there? Do I need to make a .cmd file that I call from cmdlines.txt or can i run the command directly from cmdlines.txt somehow?

followed all your steps
oh?

how can you possibly have followed my steps when you dont even know

what cmdlines.txt is?

during the runoncex installation proccess i execute

regsvr32 /s %windir%\system32\wups2.dll

cmdlines.txt executes @ -t12.

runouncex.cmd is usually executed by cmdlines.txt which in turn loads

commands into the registry to run on next boot.

i apologize for being blunt.

editted to insert the apology

Uh... ohkey... That's just rude...

Despite your doubt of my skills I did infact do exactly as you described and it did not work. Windows Update website asked me to update to V6.

Could it be different on my Norwegian system?

Running WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86 with /quiet /noreboot works good, but your integrating method is still of my interest.

I have compressed and replaced all files in i386 dir, verified that wups2.dll was copied to system32 dir, and tried to register it from both cmdlines.txt and at cleanup after WPI completion. Note that all tests were run at clean & real format...

Keep up the good work...

i apologize again. from your posts it seemed you ran regsvr32

frpm cmdlines.txt / this i have not tested and assumed it

was at fault for your failure.

as stated at the beginning of my post, it works for me.

i'm sorry it doesnt for you.
