@sonic - yes, they are detected as installed and no longer require updating.

I dont know what effect this will have on Windows File Protection though.

I dont use this feature. I build this CD for my own personal use.

I am not concerned with WFP because i dont need to protect the files from myself.

for further reference to my method of updating/integrating see this post:

just to confirm: updating wuauclt1.ex_, wuaucpl.cp_, wuaueng.dl_, wuaueng1.dl_, wuauhelp.ch_, wucltui.dl_, wups.dl_, wups2.dl_, wuweb.dl_, cdm.dl_, iuengine.dl_, wuapi.dl_, wuau.ad_, wuauclt.ex_ on i386 over w2k3 sp1 works perfectly.

no prompts after going to WUv6 :)

@shark007

The weird thing now is that I have 2 instances of Windows Installer 3.1 (KB893803) at add/remove programs.

I think this happened after I integrated the 5 last .dl_ files, AND also clicked to update to v6 at windows update, as it did not see it was already installed. Any ideas?

Crap, I see the problem.

In i386\SVCPACK dir I have the following files.

KB893803.exe

KB893803_wxp.cat

KB893803v2.exe

KB893803v2_wxp.cat

should I remove any of those, since I integrated the updated files in i386?

The reason why I had the last 5 files uncompressed, was most likely that I had already /integrated the hotfixes above?

In i386\SVCPACK dir I have the following files.

KB893803.exe

KB893803_wxp.cat

KB893803v2.exe

KB893803v2_wxp.cat

1st of all, when you run /integrate on a hotfix it will often remove the

compressed file from I386 and replace it with a new uncompressed file.

Thats how you got the uncompressed versions in your I386 folder.

2ndly, if you're simply copying over compressed files to your I386 dir

like i do, and replacing the existing files, there is no need to have the

above commands in svcpack folder/inf at all.

Yeh, that's kinda what i figured. So I could safely remove all those 4 files and its entries in svcpack.inf ++?

go to http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=43264

and down load the latest au client.

you will be able to do a silent install

this is the easy way for the WPI funs.

i download the file , i install it with parameters

/wuforce /quiet /norestart
of course after installing of installer 3.1 v2 (was already installed)

all ok . no request from v6 to install anything .

i think the way is ok for all computers with windows xp already installed.

the file above is named WindowsUpdateAgent20-x86.exe and contain

over 20 languages , viewable with winrar . i am thinking about deleting 19 from them !? can be bother this the launcher ?

oneless

IMHO idea to delete unnessery lang files using winrar - MUST work!

idea to delete unnessery lang files MUST work

Yes it does - I have made a 7z switchless EN version, tested and installs fine. If anyone wants a copy PM me with your email addy.

I have tried to my integrated Wu but I havn't the tab "Auto Update" in properties of My Computer however I have re-run the regsvr32 and says it's okay and I rebbooted ... no tab again ...

After I have test the WindowsUpdate.com and I havn't any popup but it blocked at "Finding the last version .... " (fast traduction by me ...).

So finally I must install silentlfy Windnows Installer 3.1 and/or WindowsClientv6 after and now it's okay ... I will retry the integrated in this week ... if anyone can descibe again his method Thanks!

Goodbye.

EDIT: Finally I haven't got all files needed ... (I post before read past posts :blushing: )

Actually these discussions are refer to 6th version of Windows Update. It has nothing but a new look and an interface.

You must try

http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate

instead of just http://update.microsoft.com .

This is the real version 6 of Microsoft's Product Updating System. And its new name is "Microsoft Update". It also adds a new icon to your start menu(The old one also connects the new MU site). Its main difference is you can update all of your MS Software(currently Windows,Office and SQL products are supported) at one page simultaneously. It also updates the AU client to receive critical updates of these Office and SQL products.

Can some1 grab this MU's site's ActiveX files?

Thank You!

i believe the file muweb.dll in this cab is what your looking for.

http://update.microsoft.com/microsoftupdate/v6/V5Controls/en/x86/client/muweb_site.cab?1120212506406

though i still havent tested this.
