Now, I own a good ol' AMD Barton 2500+, 512MB RAM and "the piece de la resistance": ATi Radeon 7500 64MB SDRAM. For the moment it's enough for me. I'm waiting for the 64bit software to pop-up real good and then I'm gonna buy an AMD64 desktop.

I think im going to spring for a Semperon laptop. For about $700 I can bring o ne home with 1gb of ram (after rebates and what not.)

Im currently saving my pennies.

I'm gonna wait until the new Intel Yonnah chip (when they release it) makes the jump from notebook to desktop

Why would you want this chip in a desktop? It's gonna be designed for mobile use with the next generation Centrino laptops. Dual-core and shared caches, all while only using ~25W = massive portable power.

~25W, yep great. Then I can make the ulitmate totally silent machine that still kicks some a**!

My professional advise? GET PICKY!

If you want max performance and don't want to just 'waste' your money, buy AMD-64.

AMD has been outperforming Intel since the ol' 486 days.

The upside of AMD? Greater performance, lower cost, lower power consumption and lower HEAT generation.

I don't have a mobo that will support the new AMD-64 chip,,,,YET,,, but that will definitely be my next upgrade.

Cheers,
