Win2k3EE Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 Now, I own a good ol' AMD Barton 2500+, 512MB RAM and "the piece de la resistance": ATi Radeon 7500 64MB SDRAM. For the moment it's enough for me. I'm waiting for the 64bit software to pop-up real good and then I'm gonna buy an AMD64 desktop.
DKasler Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 I think im going to spring for a Semperon laptop. For about $700 I can bring o ne home with 1gb of ram (after rebates and what not.)Im currently saving my pennies.
rikgale Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 (rikgale @ Jun 6 2005, 10:25 AM)I'm gonna wait until the new Intel Yonnah chip (when they release it) makes the jump from notebook to desktopWhy would you want this chip in a desktop? It's gonna be designed for mobile use with the next generation Centrino laptops. Dual-core and shared caches, all while only using ~25W = massive portable power.~25W, yep great. Then I can make the ulitmate totally silent machine that still kicks some a**!
ripken204 Posted June 7, 2005 Posted June 7, 2005 New GFX Card? I would wait, Nvidia and ATI made their promises at the Computex. Perhaps in July we have new series and you 6800GT is way cheaper.<{POST_SNAPBACK}>http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=50895go to this site and click the download, this is a vid of an nvidia guy at computex talking about the 7800
sonu27 Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I hope I get a Notebook Intel 64. Very expensive though.
Fritz_Saxi Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 I'm aiming for a desktop amd 64 3800, just need some money

d0p3y2k4 Posted July 20, 2005 Posted July 20, 2005 im buying a comp in jan of next year will have about $800 only because im saving up only thing im gonna buy is a new mobo dont care if its amd or intel im not picky same goes for proc , atleast 1gb of ram , video card atleast 256mb & a new tower thats the only thing im picky about
Jeremy Posted July 24, 2005 Posted July 24, 2005 Well, I chose AMD 64 Desktop but I'd never buy a whole new PC again, I'll just keep upgrading what I have.
Andromeda43 Posted August 16, 2005 Posted August 16, 2005 dont care if its amd or intel im not picky same goes for procMy professional advise? GET PICKY!If you want max performance and don't want to just 'waste' your money, buy AMD-64.AMD has been outperforming Intel since the ol' 486 days. The upside of AMD? Greater performance, lower cost, lower power consumption and lower HEAT generation.I don't have a mobo that will support the new AMD-64 chip,,,,YET,,, but that will definitely be my next upgrade.Cheers,Andromeda43
