It is not about Win Task Manager,it is about firewall

I do not use a firewall, not even Windows' built-in firewall!

Running a firewall SLOWS DOWN YOUR COMPUTER.  Running anti-virus SLOWS DOWN YOUR COMPUTER.  Running anti-malware SLOWS DOWN YOUR COMPUTER.  I want NONE of that performance degradation.

I prefer instead to run at peak performance but do so in an environment where "who cares" if the computer gets infected or crashes.

I can reinstall EVERYTHING, right down to MANY MORE SETTINGS than the "average Joe", all in TWENTY MINUTES (my slower computers and hard drives take closer to 40 minutes, but you get the idea).

Yeah, it looks like some Firefox 57+ Quantum theme.

I forgot to report from home.  I forget what the theme is called.  Photonic, I think.  But I also have a custom .css.

Regardless, this issue of not filling in the table for the Restore Session is with an empty profile, no changes whatsoever from fresh-download.  On every computer I've ever used Serpent on.  But only "newer" than a year ago.

Thanks for looking.  Very strange indeed.  I'll start again with a clean profile.  Already did that twice but something is off.  But okay with a year ago versions.  Consistently.  Hmmm...

I can confirm that the Session Restore feature still works in the most recent Serpent 52 from 15.08.2024. Here is a screenshot:



But why is the Restore Previous Session entry in the History menu always grayed out? I haven't seen this entry activated for a very long time, no matter what happened in the browser session.  Or to put it another way, under which conditions will the Restore Previous Session entry be activated at all? It seems to depend on the setting "Remember history" from what I read, but this is activated in my profiles by default.

Hmm.  I'll have to see if my *working* version from a year ago is grayed out or not.

Long story short. Some months ago, I lost the complete session in my main profile of New Moon 28. No chance to restore this session. And the "Restore Previous Session" entry was greyed out as usual.  I think the user can't rely 100% on the native "Restore Session" function. If tabs or sessions must not be lost, it is better to install the Session Manager extension. And the "Restore Previous Session" entry doesn't seem to work at all, at least in New Moon 28 or Serpent 52. But maybe, someone knows more about this "Restore Session" stuff.

Does that mean you don't use any filtering sytems,
including content-filtering proxies like Proxomitron , Privoxy etc. ?

BTW, I have never seen that a Serpent version can be grayed out.

I use my Serpent 52's Restore Session feature at least once a week.  It has always worked and it has always filled in the table of windows/tab - BUT ONLY IF I USE A YEAR-OLD VERSION (which I am fine and content with).

To me, this feature is a MUST because all all ALL of these UXP browsers have MEMORY LEAKS.

If Serpent looses the session (which happens very rarely) one can also proceed this way:

1. Open at least a second tab, 2. Quit the browser, and 3. Copy the recovery.js in <profile>\sessionstore-backups to sessionstore.js in the <profile> folder.

At least this method worked for me (approximately once a year or so).
