Milkinis
some extensions stop working when they get wiped from the chrome store. if you have a phone with Play Protect enabled it will also remove harmful apps https://support.google.com/android/answer/2812853?hl=en-419 I suspect the ungoogled version will not warn anyone about fraudulent extensions. also the CRX website doesn't list and store them all this one for example is unavailable: https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/translator/pnpdnibdembnnlaiibkeandepjajegoi

My guess is the auto-update URL can be disabled via internal .js file. what tool do you open js files with ? NotHereToPlayGames
Try changing the https part of the update_url to hxxps. I've not tried it because I use ungoogled and disable the CWS API URL.

There's a trick not everyone knows, all unpacked extensions that were then installed in "developer mode", will never update themselves in any Chrome. This extractor will do the job, I use UniExtract 2 to extract .crx extensions. https://github.com/Bioruebe/UniExtract2 Universal Extractor 2 v2.0.0 RC 3 The method is proven to work 100%.
Dave-H
Interesting, but I have no extensions that were installed that way. I do have 'Developer Mode' enabled though, perhaps that's the key. Universal Extractor is a wonderful thing, I've been using it for years, and it rarely fails in my experience.
D.Draker
I remember, when I actively used 360explorer in 2021, my uBlock (that was not installed in developer mode), I simply dragged and dropped the .crx file, got itself updated to a newer version, which then acted slowly. Also, "normally" installed (crx drag and drop) extensions' update behaviour pattern is heavily dependent on the used UA.
NotHereToPlayGames
One of my tricks, I will unpack ALL of my extensions and REMOVE the "description" line because I don't want it displayed on my chrome://extensions page, then repack them before drag-and-drop (Developer mode NOT needed, I've actually NEVER used "Developer mode"). This also CHANGES the extension's 32-digit "string" to something that would never match anything at CWS.

Firefox browsers use a "certificate store" independent of the Operating System - there are pros and cons to this also. Just an update on page 36 when I could not get 360Chrome to work. When you mentioned Internet Explorer settings and also that Chrome use your Operating System's "certificate store", I decided to download and install Internet Explorer 8. This has definitely fixed it. 360Chrome loads instantly and cruises the Internet fast. There must have been some file corruption or certificates missing with the default install of Internet Explorer 6. I never used it and always used Firefox and then New Moon.

NotHereToPlayGames
Works for me. Did you disable your beloved uBO or try in Incognito before reporting?

It's either his IP, or he uses an old UA.
