Supermium, Chromium 126 kernel??? now we are on 131 kernel.

Supermium 126 is an ESR version, so should be fine for quite a while yet.

And are there also still another Chromium based browsers that still support W7+ or W8.1+??

I preffer Chromium, better and more extensions. Better support.

@mshultz

Thanks you i add  it in my post. But is Waterfox full supported or bug/security fixes only?

Fully supported.  I was using it on my Windows 8.1 laptop until a few weeks ago, when I installed Windows 10.  I did find, with a clean installation, that I had to install the Visual C++ Redistributable Runtimes All-in-One: https://www.techpowerup.com/download/visual-c-redistributable-runtime-package-all-in-one/ first before installing Waterfox.

I tried patching firefox nightly build, but I'm missing something and I don't have enough experience to debug this any further unfortunately, but it seems to attempt to launch.

Yo, anyone installed .NET 9.0 on Win 8.1? They list Server 2012 (and R2) as supported here with extended security updates.

.NET 9.0 still installs normally on Windows 7, so it should install normally on Windows 8.1 as well.

Recently I tried all of the .NET Runtimes from 6.0 to 9.0. All of them can be installed without problem on 8.1. Both the x86 and x64 versions.

Then again I only installed them, I have not done extensive testing to see if programs that rely on it are fully compatible.

Happy new year everyone!

I just tested Microsoft (Office) 365 v2501 on Windows 8.1 and it still works. In-app update DOES NOT work anymore, not even with Office Extender Tool. It will tell you that an update is available however the updater will crash mid-through downloading the update (Network error)

You know what I find very interesting? You can still download Office v2002 for Windows 7 using the Online Office installer, however you CANNOT download Office v2301 for Windows 8.1 using the same installer anymore. On W7 it works but on 8.1 it will tell you that you need at least Windows 7 SP1, which obviously makes no sense as 8.1 is higher than 7. Microsoft simply blocks downloading Office on 8.1. So, if you want to install Microsoft 365 on Windows 8.1, you will always need to download the Offline files. If it‘s Microsoft 365 (up to 2301) no bypass tool is needed, but if it is a version above 2301, you will need to install it through a Tool, with Office Extender for 8.1 being a prerequisite.

OneNote is broken since v2401 and PowerPoint sometime freezes and crashes. Word, Excel and Outlook work without errors.

The Office 2024 Suite can be installed on 8.1 and is the third post-EOL Office suite that works on it (Office 2019, 2021, 2024).

Nonetheless, I doubt that Office 2026/2027 will work on 8.1 as even Windows 10 will end this year with v2510 or 2511. Same scenario as Windows 7, it will probably stay on security updates till 10/2028. I‘m sure that Office 2026/2027 will be the first to drop Windows 10.
