re - Torrents - anyone think of Vuze (the successor of Azureus)? Supposed to work on Win98 and up...

I prefer to stay with µTorrent - it's great, small BT client.

I've liked Azureus but Vuze is so bloated that I can't recommend it to anyone.

Almost a year ago I posted these, and they never did get added to the main list. I think galahs overlooked the post, since he did add another list of programs I posted in a later post.

Several of these programs have been updated, and I've changed the numbers to reflect that. I've also categorized everything to make it clear what goes where.

Edit: These have all been added to the first post in the thread. Thanks galahs.

I know of a couple of browsers that still works with WinMe and 98.

GhostFox the latest. It looks like it is Mozilla creation as a hybred between IE and Gecko engine of the Mozilla browsers.

http://www.ghostfox.org/

SlimBrowser 4.12

http://www.flashpeak.com/sbrowser/

Their FlashFTP also works with WinMe and 98.

FreeBrowser also works with WinMe and 98, but they added a spyware search bar with it.

Ace Explorer

http://www.aceexplorer.com/

Cayman browser

http://www.caymanbrowser.com/

Those are the ones that I am trying out right now besides CB, Maxthon, IE, Firefox and Opera.

They all look like ongoing projects and all that. Plus everything I listed are all freeware products.

They all are web browsers to explore the Internet. I know two more to add to the list.

Green Browser

Off By 1

Have not tried them out yet, but they support all the way down to 95.

I also found some more free web browsers as well.

Acco

Deepnet

GoSurf

Towey Websurfer

Mozilla (might be the last version before Firefox)

My Websurf 4 net Browser

Surfie v1.0

All reported to support our versions according to a download site.

Found some shareware browsers that supports 98 and above.

iOpus Internet Macros Web Browser

Speed Resourch Investment Browser

Touch Net Browser

Flask Mark

Newz Crawler

It is just a scratch on the surface of web browsers out there.

A couple for kids that I found are Tadpole for toddlers and KidRocket for older kids.

  • Ghostfox is actually Ghostzilla, an abandoned Windows web browser that used Mozilla's Gecko rendering engine.
  • SlimBrowser is a shell for IE.
  • FreeBrowser doesn't seem to be a web browser, but either an add-on for older web browsers, or a computer application to assist Free's media center.
  • I can't find any relevant information on Ace Explorer.
  • Cayman Browser is a shell for IE.
  • GreenBrowser is a shell for IE.
  • OffByOne is a real web browser that uses its own HTML 3.2 rendering engine. We already know about it. :)
  • Acco doesn't exist. You probably mean Acoo Browser. It is a shell for IE.
  • Deepnet Explorer is a shell for IE.
  • GoSurf is a shell for IE.
  • I can't find relevant information on Towey Websurfer.
  • Mozilla is the Mozilla suite before it got renamed to SeaMonkey.
  • I can't find relevant information on My Websurf 4 net Browser.
  • Surfie looks like another shell for IE, based on the requirement of IE3 listed on its former website.

I'm not going to look up the rest. They're probably all IE shells as well.

@kocoman

You can download Update V.6.0.2 through to V.6.0.6 at the following page:

http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/pro...&product=10

Edit: As an afterthought, please read the System Requirements on each Update and be aware that each update must be installed after the proceeding version update only such as v.6.0.6 must require v.6.0.5 to be installed etc all the way down the line. So you need to collect all six downloads and install them in the correct sequence.

But read the following thread also about dencorso's no nag mod for V.6.0.6, it does work extremely well,

http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=115784.html

No doubt some other members will tell you to use Foxit Reader instead of Adobe, if you do, use Version 2.2.2129.

ONGD - FREE - ieSpell V.2.5.1 http://www.iespell.com

Spell Checker for IE and other IE based browsers. Free for personal use. Should come in handy for those members still posting here with IE. (Strange that you can never find the spelling mistakes until after you hit the Add Reply submit button).

Alright it doesn't work in real-time like that in Opera 10 but works along the same lines as that in Microsoft Word 97 spell checker.

Edit: Works in IE7 and IE8 also if anyone double-boots with XP

I tried Ace Explorer, at first I thought I was looking at some kind of Kmeleon clone, turns out it's an IE Shell.
