  1. Hello, I want to recreate the Microsoft Windows Update v3/v4/v5 sites in local with all the elements. I know the Wayback Machine Downloader to do this but I can't find any pages of this site on web.archive.org. So, can you help me doing that project? Note: this is a public project, anyone can participate, but pls, don't share other Windows Update sites than v3, v4, v5 or v6.
  2. Hi, I am wanting to install Windows 2000 on a Dell Latitude 5490, a Kaby Lake machine. I've installed XP with XP2ESD 1.7 by @George King, and Windows Vista and Windows 7 on that laptop. And before anyone says it, no, I am not going to use a VM. And also, the legacy internal boot wouldn't be a problem, as even though it isn't supported, I can use something like WinSetupfromUSB to get around it as legacy external boot is supported. What would I need to do to get 2000 running on the Dell? The laptop has no CD drive, so I would have to install with USB. I have a SATA m2 SSD and USB 3.0. Also, @George King ported the Windows 8 drivers to Windows XP for AHCI and USB 3.0 in the XP2ESD pack, would they work on 2000? And how would I get ACPI working on 2000?
  3. How would I go about getting USB 2.0 to work on Windows 2000? I do not possess a PS/2 Keyboard and the keyboard and mouse does not appear to work after the "Setup is starting Windows 2000" phase of the setup, my PC specifications are here: https://valid.x86.fr/jqvha7
  4. You will need: Orca MSI Editor Windows 2000 (for obvious reasons) VirtualBox 1.6.6 (also for obvious reasons) Note: This was done on Service Pack 4. 1. Download and install Orca. 2. Right click on the VirtualBox MSI file, Then select "Open With Orca" 2a. Make sure you have unchecked "Read Only" In Properties 3. Select the "LaunchCondition" Table, Then right click then "Drop Table" 4. After Dropping the table, Save it then install Virtualbox. 4a. Make sure you close Orca. Everything Works! If this doesn't work, try change the VersionNT=500 to VersionNT=400 I'm Assuming they blocked Windows 2000 so people would switch to XP.
  5. Hi there! I have managed to get Virtual PC 2007 SP1 (6.0.192) working on Windows 2000 with the help of this tutorial by Gabrielustuca: https://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=26980 But what I'm stumped around here is that Virtual PC 2007 SP1 with KB958162.msp (6.0.210) can't be run at all on Windows 2000 due to a missing function, CancelIPChangeNotify in IPHLPAPI.DLL. The current version of IPHLPAPI.DLL is locked by the Windows 2000 OS. Here's the forum thread regarding VPC2007 SP1 + KB958162 rollup: https://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=31220 I'm looking for the IPHLPAPI.DLL file that comes from Blackwingcat's KernelEx v15 that is fully compatible with Windows 2000. If you have a version of the modified IPHLPAPI.DLL file, please let me know. Also, is it possible to modify the KB958162.msp file so that it will work with Virtual PC 2007 when run under Windows 2000? Thanks for your time.
  6. So, I've been trying out a older version of Process Hacker, version 1.11 under Windows 2000 and when I try to run it, I get these error messages: "An unhandled exception has occurred in Process Hacker. Please report the error to the Process Hacker team via bug tracker at SourceForge by clicking Send Report. You will receive a tracker item for keeping track of its resolution status." Here is the output error that I have received: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. at ProcessHacker.ProcessTree.GetProcessColor(ProcessItem p) at ProcessHacker.ProcessTree.<>c__DisplayClass9.<provider_DictionaryAdded>b__7() at System.Windows.Forms.Control.InvokeMarshaledCallbackDo(ThreadMethodEntry tme) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.InvokeMarshaledCallbackHelper(Object obj) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.runTryCode(Object userData) at System.Runtime.CompilerServices.RuntimeHelpers.ExecuteCodeWithGuaranteedCleanup(TryCode code, CleanupCode backoutCode, Object userData) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.RunInternal(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state) at System.Threading.ExecutionContext.Run(ExecutionContext executionContext, ContextCallback callback, Object state) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.InvokeMarshaledCallback(ThreadMethodEntry tme) at System.Windows.Forms.Control.InvokeMarshaledCallbacks() DIAGNOSTIC INFORMATION Process Hacker 1.11.0.0 Process Hacker Build Time: 01/24/2010 08:38:54 CLR Version: 2.0.50727.3053 OS Version: Microsoft Windows NT 5.0.2195 Service Pack 4 (32-bit) Elevation: Full Working set: 20.57 MB Settings file: C:\Documents and Settings\ppgrainbow\Application Data\Process Hacker\settings.xml KProcessHacker: not running OBJECTS Live: 13 Created: 71 Freed: 58 Disposed: 56 Finalized: 2 Referenced: 0 Dereferenced: 0 PRIVATE HEAP Address: 0x36b0000 Live: 2 Allocated: 54 Freed: 52 Reallocated: 0 MISCELLANEOUS COUNTERS LSA lookup policy handle misses: 1 PROCESS HACKER THREAD POOL Worker thread maximum: 2 Worker thread minimum: 0 Busy worker threads: 0 Total worker threads: 0 Queued work items: 0 CLR THREAD POOL Worker threads: 0 current, 2 max, 1 min I/O completion threads: 0 current, 2 max, 1 min PRIMARY SHARED THREAD PROVIDER Count: 3 ProcessHacker.ServiceProvider (Enabled: False, Busy: False) ProcessHacker.NetworkProvider (Enabled: False, Busy: False) SECONDARY SHARED THREAD PROVIDER Count: 0 WINDOWS MemoryEditors: 0, 0 PEWindows: 0, 0 PWindows: 0, 0 ResultsWindows: 0, 0 As far as I know, ProcessHacker v1.7 works on Windows 2000. I tried to get it to work, but got the same error. Has anyone tested older versions of ProcessHacker to see if it works on Windows 2000 or not. Is there any idea how this can be fixed? Thank you for your time.
  7. Does anyone know how to get Windows XP drivers working on Windows 2000? I have heard from several people, blackwingcat included that these should work with the Extended Kernel and Extended Core, but I have had no luck getting any of them to work on my Dell Latitude E6530, even blackwingcat's custom made Intel HD 4000 graphics driver (If I run setup.exe, I get The procedure entry point GetSystemWow64DirectoryW could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dl. If I use Device Manager to install the .inf, I get a code 31 upon restart). Does anyone know how to get the Intel HD 4000 graphics driver working along with other Windows XP drivers? To set it up, I used the tutorial embedded below along with the ISO he provided in the description (I did not do anything with the second link below the ISO, which just takes me to a place to integrate all the updates, which appears to not be needed with his Windows 2000 2011 ISO) to setup Windows 2000 as well as the Extended Kernel and Extended Core. Thanks in advanced for your help! I should also note that I got USB working on this machine, so I can do a USB wi-fi/ethernet dongle if needed to further update the machine.
  8. So Windows 2000 can run on modern machine as Windows XP (W2K and XP has same kernel) and the XP drivers can be used in W2K I will buying ASUS K401LB which powered by Intel Broadwell platform, I want install Windows 2000 Pro just for fun and programming along with Windows 10 Pro on this laptop. So any drivers works for Windows 2000? I've tried slipstreamed Fernando's modded driver (do you know that?) on W2K, but when setup initializing then the message said "iaStor.sys is corrupted" then setup fail. Or any helps to slipstream Fernando's driver to W2K with nLite? And I want install Windows 10 x64 with UEFI so booting on "ASUS" logo will seamless, but how to install W2K in UEFI? I think MBR based VHD will works, any suggestion? Last, I want the GeForce 940M driver for Windows XP. Do you know the driver truly support XP? So I can install in W2K with some efforts And which anything required to make W2K runs optimally on Broadwell laptop? Thanks
  9. Hello. It seems like only a little while ago I was asking for help to get audio drivers on an old AMD system. Well, that system is starting to show its age (especially the iGPU) and is having trouble with newer running software. So I moved the hardrive with the W2K to the new machine: Dell Optiplex 7020 i7-4790 (Haswell) Intel Q87 chipset ~Limited XP embedded support GTX 750 ti ~XP driver available 8 GB DDR3 500 GB HDD + 320 GB HDD (Windows 2K) Now, this presents a problem as XP support is limited on systems newer than Ivy-bridge and 2000 is non-existent. I also had a partition of XP on the 2K drive and was able to install almost all drivers except USB 3.0 (XP has limited support anyway) and an SM Bus controller. So I started installing Windows 2000 Advanced Server SP4 over the old 2K SP4 Professional installation. I made sure to change the BIOS to ATA mode before the installation (That was the only other option). Windows 2000 SP4 installation went smoothly until it hanged on "Setup is starting Windows 2000". I searched this forum and saw that the communications port needed to be disabled because the W2K setup incorrectly identifies it as a floppy disk controller. After that was resolved, W2K installed with no issue except while it was detecting devices. Two error dialog came up with errors pertaining to "usbhub20.sys". After the system finished setup, it rebooted to a BSOD with this message: Safe Mode could not be used to overcome this, so I booted into the Windows 7 drive and deleted the usbhub20.sys and backed it up in another folder. This allowed W2K to boot, but with no USB 2.0 support. I heard that W2K has issues with USB 2.0 on newer hardware because it has old drivers. The device manager shows many unknown devices. The most important of these are USB 2.0, Networking, and graphics drivers. The first thing I attempted to do was install the Windows XP embedded network drivers for this chipset (https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/24555/Intel-Ethernet-Drivers-for-Microsoft-Embedded-Operating-Systems?v=t these worked fine on the XP partition). When I use the device manager to install the drivers, W2K states that it was unable to locate a driver for the device, even if I specify the directory. I do have a wireless USB networking adapter that supports XP, but without USB 2.0 there is no hope of getting that to work. I decided to just try updating Windows 2000, starting with IE6 SP1 and the SP4 update rollup 1. The next thing I went to install was IE6SP1-KB2817183-x86 but upon trying to install this it states "Setup could not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make sure the Cryptographic service is running on on this computer". I tried using Start>Run and using regsvr32 to register dlls as suggested online, but sccbase.dll cannot be found and the problem is not resolved. At this point I am wondering if I should abandon this altogether, and be happy with XP (after fixing Win2K's corruption of XP, that is). Help is greatly appreciated!
  10. I would like to know how do I turn this thing off, it’s annoying. Windows 2000 marks with a bevel around the apps I (supposedly) did not use yet or are “new”. I want it to behave like it was in 98 - nothing around them. See screenshot:
  11. Ahcix86 3.3.1540.29, as suggested by blackwingcat, can break PAE compatibility in W2K extended kernel (on my system - M5AF99FX PRO R2.0 it does). It seems this driver was written without care of https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/dn613975(v=vs.85).aspx Perhaps it would be better not to use too many XPSP3 files with w2k exkernel, they seem to be buggy with "real" PAE in native environment ... Workaround: if you experience i/o problems (I had strange read/write to/from disc problems) with 3.3.1540.29 and /PAE mode, simply replace ahcix86.sys with v3.2.1540.75 WHQL Server2003. It will resolve this (also AMD Raid console will be installed). The system seems to be faster, too, without /PAE. Now I can use 32GB in W2k Exkernel!!! Greetings from Austria!
  12. So keyboard works when it shows f6 to install from floppy but when it goes to install / repair it does not work :/. And the keyboard works flawlessly on another machine
  13. Hello my Win2K friends! Has anyone here been able to successfully run SoftICE under Windows 2000 SP4? If so, what version of SoftICE did you use? did you have any updates for that version installed? any special registry settings or other settings you had to modify? any updates beyond SP4 installed on your Win2K? what hardware did you run it on? what specific video card and what video driver version did you use? I've combed the Internet and tried just about everything that I've been able to dig up but SoftICE keeps crashing out when the machine boots and causes the machine to restart in an infinite loop. Thanks in advance!
  14. I'm looknig for solution to access via usb in Windows 2000: photo cameras (PTP Protocol) and smartphones, printers (USB Composite device, which splits in device tree into Mass Storage device, USB Camera device and so on). Any ideas?
  15. Hi, I have installed W2k to my second hard disk and I have got work graphics and network but not sound card. I tried instal XP driver but W2k doesnt show any audiodevice on Control panels audio-section. I could get sound by Asus's software (you can test speakers on software (http://www.guru3d.com/index.php?ct=files&action=file&id=224)) but not any sound from Windows or other softwares. Device manager show two Realtek audio devices and the another works but the another doesnt works and device manager says error code 1. How could I get the sound card works on W2k? I believe that is possible because W2k and XP have a lot of common. My computers specs: AMD Phenom II X6 1090T @ 3,85Ghz 8Gt Ddr2 Asus M4A79 Deluxe Geforce GTX660
  16. Hello, I installed Windows 2000 SP4, and after that, I installed Unofficial Service Pack 5.1 and after that the Unofficial Update Rollup v11. But when I start the Application Compatibility Launcher, and drag the Firefox Setup, or Palemoon Setup, or SeaMonkey Setup in it, it keeps saying I need Windows XP?
  17. Hello, is it possible to keep using Skype 4.2.0.187 on Windows 2000? I don't know where I can change the version number.
  18. Yesterday I proceeded to make an customized & modernized Windows 2000 installation. Since i'm hungarian, I used the Hungarian version of Windows 2000 Pro SP4. I extracted the contents of the ISO into a folder using MagicISO, copied the files I wanted to edit in a seperate folder, extracted them using Universal Extractor, edited them with Resource Hacker, then used Camtech's MakeCab 4-Win (MakeCab with graphical interface) to package the files. I copied them into i386, used nLite to integrate Windows Media Player 7 and to make a bootable ISO. I then went into Virtual PC 2007 (I also have VMWare, I use that more, but I used Virtual PC because... I wanted to) and installed the OS. The graphics were changed as I changed it, the WMP7 installer appeared halfway the installation. I installed WMP7, and when the install was done, and the login screen appeared (with my graphics), I logged into the OS, but the desktop and the taskbar didn't appear. I was weirded out by this, and I opened Task Manager, and tried to open Explorer.exe, but when I did, Explorer.exe still didn't appear. I tried a lots of things, like using ModifyPE (for safety's sake ), not installing WMP7, repacking the ISO with n-Lite multiple times. I installed a vanilla Windows 2000 inside Virtual PC, put my customized files in a seperate folder, with Replacer, and replaced all the files in Safe Mode with my customized ones, and I basically got the same result. I reinstalled the OS, and tried to replace the files seperately, starting with browseui.dll, and when I did, and rebooted, explorer.exe didn't appear. I realized what was the problem, browseui.dll. After using the Recovery Console, I replaced user32.dll, and I got the XP error icons and start buttons from my customization (which worked in the customization), then shell32.dll, and I got my XP icons (with the Whistler recycle bin and favorites icons), and my new about logo. Out of curiosity I replaced the BROWSEUI.DL_ from the customized ISO with the one from a vanilla Windows 2000, and after installation, the OS worked. But I really want my browseui.dll inside the OS, which has some of the icons replaced with Windows 7 ones, with the back/forward/up icons from IE9/IE10/IE11 and the throbber from XP, only with a black background (inverted and then adjusted the hue in Photoshop). Is there a way to fix the customized browseui.dll? It's still not done, the control panel icons, the Please Wait dialog from setup, and the autorun need to be modified.
  19. Hey everyone, I recently acquired a copy of Windows 2000 from a friend of mine who had a garage sale. I decided to test it out on my Asus Eee PC 1000HD, and to my surprise, it works very well, and runs faster than XP. All of the drivers I downloaded for my hardware worked perfectly with Windows 2000, except for the AsusACPI and Webcam ones. The built-in Windows ACPI driver works just fine, and I'm using a utility called eeectl to enable the CPU throttling and fan control. I don't care about the webcam since it has awful picture quality and I don't really have a need for it. However, it appears that the hotkey functionality is part of the asusacpi driver, so right now, most of the Fn keys don't work. The only ones that do work are the simulated numpad keys, the brightness control, and hibernate keys. Is there any generic driver or utility available for Windows 2000 that will allow me to configure the rest of them?
  20. AMD FX-8350 is not throttling, always runs at 4.1 GHz and high VCore. K10stat doesn't work on FX CPUs. Also video crashes on boot 3-4 times but eventually works if I keep rebooting. I get corrupted video as soon as the desktop loads. I have nVidia GTX 550 Ti with driver 331.82 (BlackWingCat nvw2k33182). Any ideas?
  21. Hi guys im new to windows 2000! And I have used Windows 98,95 Nt4 ME 3.1,3.11,3.11 for workgroups and Dos 6.22 and Windows Neptune and Windows xp and Windows7 Windows 8 Windows 10. So I have used a lot of versions but I installed w2k on a Pentuim4 and fell in love . I have installed SP5 and UUrollup won't work. But I am wondering if I need anything els. Because I will start using Windows 2000 even more. Thanks, Winman486
  22. Is it possible to change kernel after installation in order to support I/O APIC in Windows 2000?
  23. Has anyone tested Firefox 29 and Firefox 30 on Windows 2000 with the latest version of UURollup? As far as I know, I recently switched to a new computer a few months back and as a result of this, I can no longer test new versions of Firefox on Windows 2000. Also, in Firefox 30, developers removed the dead OS/2 support code due to lack of contribution and the newer code that hasn't been able to work properly on OS/2.
  24. Has anyone run Windows NT 3.51, Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 2000 under Bochs with networking support successfully? Well, the latest SVN revision is 2014-01-05 and according to therock247uk from the Vogons DOSBox forums, Bochs has working Slirp support on Windows. So far, in the official release of Bochs 2.6.2, there is no networking support. Even with WinPcap installed, networking hasn't been working correctly for years, niclist.exe network detection remains broken and Slirp doesn't work in the official Windows release. Furthermore, if I try to enable Slirp support in the Windows NT 4.0 test VM on Bochs in the settings.bxrc config file, this log with error messages get displayed: Has anyone compiled Bochs 2.6.2 with Slirp support using the SVN 2014-01-05 revision? If so, I would like to grab a copy of the complied version and try to get networking working. Also, the lowest processor that Bochs will be able to emulate is a Pentium MMX. I would also love to see Bochs compiled to run either on a 80386, 80486 or original Pentium. Windows NT 3.51 and Windows NT 4.0 ran on these processors very well. If you would like more information on this, please let me know.
  25. Hello, my name is Chris, and I was hoping of finding a way of installing Windows 2000 on my custom built computer, but since my motherboard is pretty new I think most of my drivers will fail to install, as most of them require Microsoft Windows XP and higher. Here are my specs listed bellow: Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA785GMT-UD2H (Revision 1.0) RAM: 11GBs of DDR3 RAM Hard Drives: 60GB SSD Drive, 2 x 1TB Hard Disk Drives Processor: AMD Athlon II X3 435 Processor with 3 Cores Onboard Video Card: ATI Radeon HD 4200 Network: Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller any help shall be much appreciated.
