Sounds more like there is not enough free storage space. How much free space do you have on each drive. Another place to look into is the swap file. Is it big enough and are you managing it manually or is Windows managing it. You have 1 GB of RAM. Some boards had problems with 1 GB of RAM and caused memory leaks.

Original art work. Web companies are always looking for talent so make sure you make this your strongest selling point. Just a suggestion.

Monitor Dying? Weird black lines and white boxes..
MSNwar replied to ThA_FiLeR's topic in Hardware Hangout
I wub ViewSonic monitors. High quality they are. Tha_FiLer, since the monitor is failing you may want to lower the refresh rate to squeeze another month or two out of it and this may resolve the problem for a short time. Your monitor can no longer turn its electron beams on and off fast enough that results in what it is doing now. Lower it to the lowest setting for now. Also, if this is the monitor that you use with games that demand a high refresh rate for optimal game performance look hard at its specifications. The next monitor you buy should be equal or better. I know you play a lot of games and are a wizard with video cards. Jacking up the vid card drivers when experimenting with new drivers on a low-end monitor will eventually cause this problem as well. Again, Happy Birthday -
Automatic Configuration for Networks, MSFN Guide, FthrJack. http://www.MSFN.org/articles.php?action=show&id=4 Nice guide with some piccies to get you started. AaronXP and SunnyB explain it in more detail. Here is a quick trick. Start > Control Panel > Network and Internet Connections > Network Connections. In this window you will see your Local Area Connection. Right-click it, select disable, before you shut down Windows. The next time you start your computer Windows will load without the delay. Tip. Right-click and select create shortcut. Answer Yes to creatie a shortcut on the desktop. Evertime you start Windows simply right-click the shortcut and select enable from th pop-up menu. It will only take a few seconds for Windows to enable the connection.

An assination would just cause history to repeat itself. The next guy in line would take his place and nothing would change really. I bet you more civilians died at the command of SH and his leaders (mostly family) since 1991 than what the war caused. Look at Southern Iraq and what was happening to those poor people. Starving to death in a country that was loaded with gold and oil. Who is kidding who? You saw the mass graves that were created before the war.

Its okay. I like the look.

Topics merged. Please try not to make multiple posts about the same problem. Easier on us all that are tracking your problem. Thanks.

Possibly. Are the drives defraged? Just one badly defragmented drive will cause this problem. What about the configuration I mentioned?

Move the sound card to a different PCI slot. Usually the one furtherest away from the CPU. Sometimes the Creative cards have to jockeyed around the different slots with W2K3 Server. Use the original drivers that came with the card to install. Here is a link and a user comments that might help as well: http://www.soundcard-drivers.com/drivers/88/88810.htm Comments: I tried in vain to find a driver for this device to no avail. I found, by chance, the original CD for W9x and NT. I tried it on Windows 2000 and it worked like a charm. I seperated the CTRUN files, zipped them, uninstalled the drivers from the CD, & reinstalled the unzipped files after rebooting. I pointed the driver search to the file I created for the unzipped files. The folder does have CTRUN.exe but I didn't try that. The inf file is called CTRUN.inf. Good luck. Email me if you have any problems. This driver should also work on PCI64 and 128. Since your Ensoniq ES1370 Audio PCI drivers work with Win2K and this worked for this user it may work for you. Hope this helps. Let us know how it works out. Welcome to MSFN

Worked for me. Here is what I did. Exit Windows Messenger or MSN Messenger. Uninstall/Install MSN 6 Beta. Run the patch. Hope this helps.

no need to defrag if you are going to format. Make a clean installation if possible. In other words dont run setup and overwite the existing installation. Use the hard drive manufacturers utility disk and rebuild the hard drive, i.e. new MBR, new partition, format. Otherwise is you run an overwrite the registry will retain multiple entries of the setup. Do a clean install anytime you install any new operating sustem

FAT 32 to NTFS is not significant really. You are right to make them both NTFS, however. Where both drives are on the same IDE cable that is significant. Place the primary master on the primary IDE channel and the secondary master on the secondary IDE channel. Then you achieve direct throughput of the data transfer. Also, when you open Task Manager you will see 100% CPU usage for a moment. That is a quirk with XP Task Manager. There is a post / fix for that, but I forget where.

It is okay spec wise I think. The RAM is odd being 300,000 and 3 memory cards. I guess that is 384 MB and 3 sticks. Is the hard drive defragmented? When you installed it did you do a clean install (new partitions and format)? Somtimes a old hard drive will simply fail. Is it making grinding sounds? Check the monitor frequency and video card drivers.

Happy Birthday to a swell guy

Assuming that your computer meets the minimal requirements to run Win2K3 I would guess that the installation may be corrupt and you might want to reinstall. However, the monitor frequency comes to mind. This leads to your video card and monitor drivers. Please give us a detailed list of your computer's hardware and we may be able to suggest a solution.
