  2. A parent that lets his kid(s) on the PC for a little surfing should be concerned if any of the following applies: Say you are surfing hot and heavy between a lot of sites and need the cookies for fast page loads, or visit a lot of password required sites and do not want to type them in every time, or saved a lot of paint jobs and need to open/close and bring up the last job from the recents list, or cant remember the word document you last saved and need to open it in the recent documents menu.ScrubXP deletes all of that stuff to include the trash bin. It also deletes recently visited web sites from the URL drop down menu. One of the things I do is visit new web sites that friends and associates ask to look at for one reason or another. Most of the time I remember to bookmark certain pages, but sometimes I forget. A quick glance at the URL address drop down menu finds in almost everytime. But this also deletes that stuff. This is wholesale slaughter
  3. MATA7, because some people have more than one PC. This is perfect for people who dont have the time to sit through all the installations on more than one PC or for people with a single hard drive that is used for beta testing. A lot of people here do a lot of beta testing, game testing, or just simply corrupt their hard drives with new software. The CD has a lot of uses. In the case of OEM System Builders this method of unattended installation in remote locations is also valuable. Using AaronXP's method you could install Mandrake or any free OS with other free software that you have tested to be a perfect combination and save a customer big bucks in software alone not to mention the added bonus of providing them a System Restore CD. Just some ideas.
  4. Found this nice freeware proggie, been using it this weekend, and think I will keep it around. Be carefull with it though because it is dangerous in the wrong hands.Download Here. Description: ScrubXP is a one-click cleanup tool, that runs in your system tray. As soon as you click it, it will delete and clean the following items: IE History, IE Temporary Files, IE Cookies, Recent Documents List, Recycle Bin, Auto-complete Entries (and Turns it Off). It also cleans the Recent File Lists for Run, Common Dialogs, Recent Documents, Search Assistant, Typed URLs, Paint, Find Computer, Printer Ports, Find Files, Media Player, Previous Tasks, and Real Player. The program runs automatically when you start your computer and additional cleanups can be performed by double-clicking the tray icon. 5. Sounds like you may have a serious virus or maybe a trojan on the system. AIM is a hacker's dream. * Download XPscrub, reboot, and run it one time. Set it to "No Autostart" and reboot once more. * Uninstall AOL and AIM and reboot. * Run "The Cleaner" that will detect any trojans. * Reinstall AOL from a AOL CD which includes AIM. Stay out of AIM Rooms that are not AOL sponsored and dont download anything from someone on AIM unless you know them real good. Dont visit sites that someone sends you a link to in AIM. Those sites usually drop a JAVA script on your PC that wrecks your machine. You get the idea. Visit AOL Help for more information. Welcome to MSFN
  6. From the help section: If WWW File Share Pro can be installed behind a gateway router? Then the IP address is your-router's-IP address, not your computer's. You can still use it locally, but those people outside from internet may not access the share service. To let others visit your computer directly, your router must support DMZ and Virtual Server. * Virtual Server: Allows WWW, FTP and other Internet server services on the LAN to be accessible to Internet users. * DMZ: The DMZ (DeMilitarized Zone) host feature provides unrestricted 2-way communication between Internet servers and one specified local machine. If the computer's INTERNAL IP is 192.168.0.2, tell your router or gateway to set this address as the DMZ and set a virtual server to port 80 (suppose that you set port 80 for WWW File Share Pro) at this address, then people outside can access your files. But you cann't tell 192.168.0.2 to your friends directly because it is a LAN IP address. You should tell an internet IP address to your friends so they can access your files on the internet. To find the internet IP address, please visit: http://www.backupsoft.net/myip.php

  15. Maybe this will help a little. We replaced the OEM SB Live 5.1 with a Retail model and solved the problem today. Just for kicks I pulled the Retail model and shoved the OEM back in. Win2K3Server went through a hardware update and it works. No wine! Go figure?
  16. Additional information is available here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003...activation.mspx The product activation process is very similar to Windows XP. 18. Wish I could help bud but I have never tried Flash or Swish myself. Where is The_John when you need him
  19. I think Tha_Filer said something about issues with movies and sound on W2K3Server. I know WinME had similar problems with Win Media Player for a short time. Earlier this afternoon a friend of mine tried a movie with the Server Editon and had the same problem. He is using a SB Live 5.1. Oddly enough he does not experience the wine with audio CDs.
  20. I found this article (Click Here) by Tinker in our Hardware News section and followed the link (Click Here) where this fan is depicted ... It made me think of this thread and FthrJack's pic. Have another look at FthrJack's ... IMHO ... FthrJack Rules !
