  1. Rules Please just remember to give a descriptive title next time. That is all he is saying and that was for the sake of your own good, so that more people know what it is and come to read your topic.Now.... Back on track. Looks like we'll have to get our hands dirty on this one. First, merge SP2 into the XP disk, and install the OS clean (after a re-format of C: ). Then try installing and uninstalling various versions of drivers. Then try re-formatting and installing XP with SP1, and then plain XP (without any SP). Then try with win2k and winME/98. At some point on the above route, you might find that it "works fine now" - tell us what that point is, we shud be able work out some solution. If nothing at all is able to fix your "blurring" then set your AGP aperture size to 2x your gfx card's size. If even that won't work, then don't dump your current machine. Its just a simple case of unexpected nvidia driver bugs (which is actually rare - nvidia RULES quality!). So just wait it out for some months for new driver releases to iron out your bugs. If you want to do something instead of staying passively "waiting", then informing nVidia of this problem is a good idea. Tell them your exact conditions (hardware, software environment, the games where this "blur" occurs, whatever other details that you think is relevant). You can contact them through your vendor's customer support, or email them at the addresses given on-site, or through feedback..... Only when they are told what bugs occur in real-world operation, can they fix it!

  3. huh? I don't mean the post-install size, I was referring to the install source files itself. By shrink, I MEAN shrink! The Office 2003 CD1 (install-source) can be shrunk down to 35 MB. So something similar is possible with this also....

That's because it basically causes a problem with explorer.exe which goes and affects the rest of the GUI shell as well. You will always suffer that with IE.Only when you move to something else like mozilla/firefox or Opera will this stop. Don't use IE, that's how you can solve this.
  5. No, I meant it as a separate install. I doubt that it can be merged into office main package. Should be possible to shrink it to use only the files you actually use. Maybe make some sort of extension to the Office Shrinker package.
  6. If what you want is the original CD covers of MS Office, then just go to cdcovers.cc and get the labels for whichever title and version you need. MS-Office should be here in the list.
  7. The proofing tools also can be automated with "/QB"....
  8. I beg to differ.1. Results were 2 pages because of not using the right search strings. 2. Consider that 2 pages of results is very good in real terms. Would you like it to be super-efficient and give no results or atleast give you lot of info?
  9. Classic unattended install, this one. Just do a direct copy to destination (or use RAR sfx). Then put in a shortcut to it in StartMenu if you want - $Docs\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Atlantis.lnkIf you need it to be associated to *.DOC and *.RTF, then just register the extension for it - Registering File Extensions Unattended.
  10. Would anyone even uninstall it?The best thing is for the pack to just be slip-streamed, there's no way to uninstall anything after that because it is merged into base. And even if it was separately installed, I doubt uninstalling it is an option I would consider. I would just want to install the entire truck (meaning ALL possible updates) immediately after a fresh install. And after that, its just let the system run on. If there's any problem, it'd be quicker for you to just re-install the original win2k+SP4 than uninstall! @Gurgelmeyer I doubt worrying about SP3 compatibility for this pack is needed. Everybody just installs the latest SP and carries on from there, and SP4 has been stable for a very long time. Also, once the official post-SP4 roll-up comes out in May, you might need to re-make your pack, and it might be a lot of trouble. So just cautioning you to remember what all you did for the "hotstream" pack, to be able to do it again after the roll-up. Looks like good going till now, waiting eagerly for your package's release :
  11. Hmm.... right. If you got the installer version and it is able to do a proper unattended setup, then you could definitely do that. I have got the ZIP version which is why I mentioned something else.
  12. Well, I always recommend using variables. That will work, or maybe you got a spelling error in your commands previously. Or if commands in a batch-file is not working for you, use RAR SFX to extract silently to a known path. If you need more info about that, just ask.
  13. I believe he meant that it was not easy to identify what installer this app uses, from its screens and file-properties.
  14. First, where have you placed your oobeinfo.ini - maybe it was placed in the wrong place and never got processed. Next, check the file extension - some people end up saving it as "oobeinfo.ini.TXT". Lastly, it has to start from EDIT: oops, Alanoll beat me by 10 mins.
  15. He already said it....
  16. So don't upgrade. This is only the beginning of troubles. Then during the upgrade you see other hassles, you see crashes and instability during operation.... its too much bother. Just backup all your required files (from C: to D: or something..) and do a clean-install by booting up from the win2k CD.
  17. Its as you said.... That's the best way to put it to use.Whereas if you have one internet connection and two PCs, you'd have had to bother about network hubs and all.... In this case you can just run the cables directly.

lolLets just tell him to do whatever he wants. Or report him to the SPCA....
  19. Yup, Gene6 is the big brother of BPFTP. It has all features similar, except that G6 also supports SSL'ed FTP. At this point of time, I doubt SSL has any use for you... Plus you may get caught for breaking the law. Also, from your post it looks like your Gene6 is *VERY* old (year 2001). So to prevent attacks and other problems, try moving to some other FTP app.

  21. FileZilla is a very powerful FTP server, and its free too. (gene6 is a very costly app, are you sure you actually bought it? ) Just google to get to the homepage of the filezilla project. You just need to copy over files directly (which means you can extract unattended from a RAR SFX). And then at first run you can configure it or set it to be a windows service, or whatever....
  22. All who read this topic might find Atlantis useful.
  23. There's reasons why MS Office is not used sometimes - bloat, too deep tying-in with windows, etc. And then, COST ! OpenOffice is the alternative, but its just too heavy and slow. AbiWord is too light and feature-less for its own good!. In this scenario, enters the Atlantis word-processor. Its small and (pretty much) free to use. And it has lot of wonderful features that even MS Word 2003 doesn't sometimes. Can you believe its just a 2 MB download? And just a 1 MB install - perfectly suited for unattending. 24. 1. Easy - Copy files over to "%systemdrive%\Docs&Settings\Default User" folder itself, thru cmdlines.txt (T-12) and whatever new users are created will inherit those files. 2. This one is a bit less easy - There is a registry key that can run something just before login. Find this in the registry tweaks thread (in "unattended windows" section of this forum). And then set it and remove on next boot and manipulate it as you please.
