Yahoo Inc. said on Wednesday it will soon start invitation-only testing of its new Web blog and social networking service Yahoo 360, which aims to better connect users to people they already know. The Yahoo 360 test release will mark the first time the company provides a service to create and share Web logs, also known as blogs, in the United States. Yahoo already offers such tools in some international markets like Japan and South Korea. Available March 29, the free test will integrate Yahoo's existing products, such as instant messenger, photos, local search, music and groups with new offerings such as blogs, mobile blogs and sharing tools for recommending movies, restaurants and other items. Yahoo plans to offer a broader test of the service within six weeks of the initial beta release. Yahoo's 360 announcement comes amid growing investment in blogging and social networking technology by other Internet companies like Google Inc. and Microsoft Corp. The home-grown technology will give users complete control over who sees their content, said Julie Herendeen, Yahoo's vice president of network products. Yahoo, which garners most of its revenue from advertising, said there are no current plans to put ads on Yahoo 360. "We'll keep evaluating opportunities as we move forward," Herendeen said. Blogs and social networking have each drawn significant user interest and venture capital dollars in recent months and have become an increasingly popular venue for self-publishing content for the Internet's large audience. Microsoft late last year added MSN Spaces, a blogging service, to its MSN Internet service. Google bought Blogger creator Pyra Labs in early 2003. The Web search company also has runs an affiliated social networking service called Orkut. Source: Reuters

Installing Windows Oem Style
prathapml replied to betamax's topic in Unattended Windows 2000/XP/2003
You can do that by simply running the setup from windows mode, or boot up with a DOS disk and start "winnt.exe". But doing this is not good, always go for a clean install. Yup. It even offers this option by itself, when you start setup from within windows. Its in "Advanved Options" dialog box in those screens. But if you're doing this from a bootable device other than HDD, then you can copy the files over in DOS mode and then start setup. But this is too slow and not recommended - just install windows and then copy files. Who knows! That's the way it is, and it doesn't work otherwise, so I never cared to find out. The preferred method is to install from scratch over the network, with either PXE-compatible NICs that will boot off the server, or WinPE started which then accesses the install-source files over the network.Thereafter, you have maintenance and other little things to do all the time, which are done by applying "Group Policies" to OUs (Organizational Units). This demands a real server with domains setup, than a simple peer-to-peer workgroup (as seen in homes). Simple answer - don't copy the darn i386 folder to HD before windows gets installed. Do it after install and change install path in registry (as said previously in someone's post).Hoping this helps..... -
Cancel Old Apache .htaccess File
prathapml replied to sven's topic in Server - Side Help (IIS, Apache, etc.)
Ah, then no need of the CGI script that I initially suggested. ErrorDocument 400 default ErrorDocument 401 default ErrorDocument 403 default ErrorDocument 404 default ErrorDocument 500 default Does it work as wanted, now? -
Hello sven, I'd say that you got MySQL installed fine, and the problem actually lies elsewhere. What script is it that you're trying to run (for testing)? If its a php script and your server is apache, its very likely that the connectivity between php and your mysql is not been configured yet. If you're only beginning out, may I suggest another solution? Remove your old install, and check out XAMPP. They have all that is needed, is simple to use, has regular updates, and has a good support forum. Does that package do what you need?

By its very definition, OC = unpredictable/untested. There are utils by MoBo makers, but you can't use those with your HP machine. nLite is not an "OC" app - its for stripping out the bloat from XP which results in better speed.

Why not use Everest (successor of AIDA-32) to find out this.
-
That should be because AIDA-32 went and became Everest since Lavalys bought them. But the sad part is that AIDA-16 was abandoned. Now there's no equivalent of Everest, for DOS.
-
Or maybe the access db that you're trying to modify, was made with a different version of the app. Also, no need to shout in capital letters, we can hear you.....

Don't mess with Auto-It... Check out this topic for a VBscript which will allow you to change computername - click here. I suggest that you set this VBS to be executed at the end of everything else, so that after unattended install is over, user can change computername to whatever he/she wants. As for "default account" - what you say is not quite clear to me.... - # You want to set a username of "Marthax" to be used every time you install, without having to tell it to use that username? Then check out the oobeinfo.ini method to auto-setup upto six user-accounts. oobeinfo.ini even gives the benefit of auto-login if only one user is defined. - more info - # Or you want a variable username? So that on each install, you will be asked about what name the user created should be? Well, this will not be truly unattended, isn't it, since someone needs to be around, to attend to it. Anyways, if the second option is what you want, then check out WIHU. - more info

No no...You've done it right. The only thing wrong here, is that the IDENT files (those that begin with WIN51....) seem missing from one of the two paths. You have to have the idents in the root of the CD, as well as the sub-folder to which you edited the path in SetupSourcefiles (which is found in txtsetup.sif). Do post back with how it goes.

Its a dreary, page-flipping, eye-tiring, time-intensive, notepad-thumping challenge. The last time, it took atleast an entire day here.....If you're still volunteering for it, you're welcome! Just need to see to it that nothing's missed out, that no errors are present, and that its sorted to some extent, that's all. I do intend to add in all these cool tweaks you all are contributing, but just can't find the time. If you'd like to do it instead, that's great and credit will be mentioned in your name.... While submitting, please mention uptil which post number you have covered. Good luck!

I run it at first logon, from a batch-file which deletes itself after executing that command. In fact, this pagefile thingie, MS-Office2k3, and NAV2k3 is all that I leave for first-logon. All else runs fine at T-12 itself. (these 3 tasks though, refuse to run properly at T-12) Do postback on how it works out.

Cancel Old Apache .htaccess File
prathapml replied to sven's topic in Server - Side Help (IIS, Apache, etc.)
Hmm... Got it done yet? If you don't want to use external apps, then just make another .htaccess to put in your folder, with the exact opposite directives of the one on top of all folders. We could help if you posted what the _initial_ access file said, so that we could work out the opposite of it. -
If longhorn and WinFS had been on time, we should have seen the elimination of the concept of drive letters, sooner. Once the changeover happens (maybe now it will take until 2010 to happen), you will just have mount-points, or "file system trunks", from where you use your files.
