  1. Ok, I have tried everything suggested and still no luck. Why will it connect through a proxy server and not my server? It's not the firewall and I can't find any malware..... this is really getting under my skin!
  2. Then proxy connection works, just VERY slowly. So what does this tell me, that the problem is with the server at my ISP? Why then does my laptop connect perfectly? I am a confused puppy. Do you guys think I have undetected malware lurking? I have run Spybot, Pest Patrol, Win Defender, Giant Anti spyware, AVG, Zone Alarm anti spyware, all with no results!!!
  3. Thanks guys. I disabled Zone Alarm and it still happens. I have never used a proxy, can you give me a clue about it? I will boot into safe mode w/networking and see what happens.....
  4. Thanks, I tried that and no good. I did download Firefox, and the same thing happens. So, something other than Explorer must be the culprit. I have sent a tech request to Zone Alarm and I am awaiting their reply cos I think it's the firewall for some reason although I can't find anything there......a nightmare.
  5. It will never go to my home page. I can go to CNN International, but when I click on the link for the US Edition, it just times out. It is only this one page. That's what is so frustrating....
  6. Suddenly my computer refuses to go to my homepage, it just times out and gives the dreaded "404 not found" error. My homepage is www.cnn.com. I have Zone Alarm firewall and anti-virus, Windows Defender, Spyware Blaster, Bazooka, et al and none report problems after scanning. It will go to any other page, just not my homepage. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for your help! jeffncris
