[tut] Building Your Own DriverPack
Bâshrat the Sneaky replied to Bâshrat the Sneaky's topic in The General Stuff
In fact, to be honest, you couldn't have chosen a more not-appropriate place.... 1) Check the readme that's included in the DriverPacks BASE. 2) Since you don't seem to be a professional to me: use nLite to remove all drivers you don't want. -
LOL This is NOT a good poll... Each vendor has good and bad GPU's You're about to use one of the WORST.... Not even good enough for 2D applications... Use a Radeon 9250 (available in an AGP version) if you don't want to spend too much on it.

That was NOT the question. Getting the HWID included in the driver's .inf file is not specific enough: your 'real' HWID is more detailed

Hehe it's the precedessor of my DriverPack MassStorage: RyanVM lost the motivation to continue his RAIDpack (I forgot the exact name) and I took over -
Could you please mail me that driver, Revo?

DriverPacks BASE V5.06
Bâshrat the Sneaky replied to Bâshrat the Sneaky's topic in The General Stuff
@Siginet: eh... NO that's definetely not an option... Not everyone uses newsgroups: it's not accessable enough. @imdos: afaik Sourceforge is for open-source software only. And I want to keep all options open. And as posted in the future plans announcement, I'm planning a move to much more advanced, completer suite with many more options, that will not be open-source (though it might take a LONG time until you will be using it). That means that this is also not a good option. @mark49: thank you Everything helps -
Check my post just after erik_demon's reply

You cannot slipstream them using the OemPnPDriversPath method... At least they won't work during textmode setup, so setup won't be able to boot from your HDD... You didn't slipstream DriverPack MassStorage? If you DID, you'd probably have support for your mass storage controller. -
Which motherboard do you have? And could you please post the HWID of your VT8237 controller?

DriverPacks BASE V5.06

What about Bit Torrent ??? I could be a tracker (My upspeed is limited to 1 mbit) ... ← nah... it's fixed now Everything's up and running. And if necessary I'll just spend more on hosting. Of course that would require some more donations, but I think that should work. -
DriverPacks BASE V5.06
Bâshrat the Sneaky replied to Bâshrat the Sneaky's topic in The General Stuff
Never paid attention to this one. There are more identical HWIDS... Now I checked in detail: viaide.sys ----------- -default included on the Windows XP CD -last modied date: 2004 -internal name: pciide.sys viaidexp.sys -------------- -NOT default included on the Windows XP CD (added by DriverPack MassStorage) -last modified date: 2001 -internal name: pciide.sys The only logical conclusion would be that viaidexp.sys is unnecessary. And if we check DriverPack MassStorage's changelog, we find: Which means it hasn't been included since the beginning, but has been added on request. So I think I can safely assume we can remove viaidexp.sys from DriverPack MassStorage... -
DriverPacks BASE V5.06

I still have some options Have some patience for a couple of hours -
I was working on DriverPack Monitor as well... I've PM'd gilesw and he said I should 'feel free to take over and use the files for an official pack.', which is what I'll do. Though it might take some more time: I'm downloading everything manually, all new. That has already made a difference for EIZO's monitor drivers for example: I have 284 files, he has 67 files... So I suggest you use his for now.

DriverPacks BASE V5.06

@muiz: thanks, checking it out now... @Astalavista: huh? You're the third one to say this, but every time (3rd time that I'm about to try now) I tested it, it worked just fine... EDIT: this time you seem to be right... :@ :@ I think I'm going to make a phonecall to my stupid ISP... UNLIMITED BANDWIDTH they say OK, maybe it *was* a bit over the FUP (Fair Use Policy), but still... I'm only using it again for less than two weeks now... I'll fix it later today. EDIT2: forgot to say: the first of July I'll switch to a new host with AT LEAST 100GB bandwidth monthly, so I can spread the DriverPacks even more. EDIT3: or even better - I'm in fact ashamed I didn't know about this - but tucows seems to offer a FREE download service. Of course I could advertise, but that wouldn't be very successful I think EDIT4: I guess I found out why nobody told me about this before: it takes SIXTY days until my 'software' will be approved and thus added to the list. Of course I can speed that up to the next few days, but that would cost me 2000$ and guess what? Donations don't come in such a huge kind Then I'll have to find another way. -
@gilesw: you've got a PM
-
If you're right, erik_demon, then he should use SetDevicePath, not SetupCopyOEMInf. SetupCopyOEMInf should only be used if the drivers are physically available at all times.

DriverPacks BASE V5.06

On which motherboard is that? More specificly: is it a motherboard with an ATI chipset? -
There is (was?) also a trial edition of Windows Server 2003...

Bâshrat the Sneaky replied to rustycaps's topic in Device Drivers
And what 'RAID drivers zip file or something of here' are you talking about? This port isn't very useful unless you also post about which archive you're talking here... -
So you want: 1) an UWXPCD that checks for another CD, using the DriverPacks? OR 2) an UWXPCD without any drivers, with a shortcut on your desktop after installation that you have to click to start the driver installation?
-
I haven't updated the updater, because there are still some serious bugs in the V5.06 DriverPacks BASE. When V5.06.1 is online, I'll update the updater. And... this really is a strange problem... Could you please post the specifications of the system you're installing Windows onto?

Yes, it's normal: these entries are not necessary when using method 2
