  1. An advice: DON'T let a 'professional' do it, they will probably rip you off... All you have to do is open your case, remove the current battery (can't miss it, its cross-cut is ~1cm), take it to a shop, buy a new one (1-2€) and place it back (with the right side up). Probably you'd have to pay a 'professional' 25€ or more...
  2. Huh? I don't have that problem... Which version of my DriverPacks are you using? BTW... it's included in the DPs BASE by default... EDIT: and welcome to MSFN.org!
  3. Probably the battery on your motherboard isn't working properly anymore, nothing abnormal. Please tell how old your motherboard/PC is?
  4. About ALI's site: indeed, figured that too. SiS: IDE drivers are included in DP MassStorage. The AGP drivers date back to 2003 and are already included in Windows XP by default. EDIT: at least in SP2. At least that's what I read
  5. hehe didn't think of that Already figured "well that's an _extremely_ basic question"... my mistake I guess OEM VS retail .. I'd go OEM, VLK isn't for single user licenses Why OEM? Because it's cheaper... Don't need a fancy box..
  6. There isn't better versions, because you can simply download new updates and slipstream them into the installation CD. However, there ARE different editions: Home Edition Professional Edition Media Center Edition For detailed info, check the official site
  7. It's PATA with a maximum transfer rate of 133 MB/s. In theory of course. In reality the limit is ~125MB/s, but even that limit can't be accomplished by the current harddisks... (at least not HDDs in JBOD, RAID 1 or 5 or... can)
  8. I voted too! @Glowy: I like your 'The voices made me do it!' Very original
  9. The exact same thing here
  10. I'm sorry for my language... But I don't know where in the world you got that info from? Could you please post your winnt.sif file? (more particularly your OemPnPDriversPath) and additionally, could you add a screenshot of your folder structure? (folder structure of the drivers you added)
  11. So far they're all very easy. But I cannot seem to find the ALI chipset drivers... Included in V5.04: ATI, Intel, nVidia nForce, VIA Remark: SiS doesn't have any extra drivers, the AGP drivers are already included in Win XP by default.
  12. And where is it different then? Let's start with removing the entries we don't need: [Disks] d4 = "Promise FastTrak 376/378 Driver Diskette", \fasttx2k, \WinXP [Defaults] scsi = FastTrak_TX2K_net [scsi] FastTrak_TX2K_xp = "WinXP Promise FastTrak 376/378 (tm) Controller", fasttx2k [Files.scsi.FastTrak_TX2K_xp] driver = d4, fasttx2k.sys, fasttx2k dll = d4, ptipbmf.dll inf = d4, fasttx2k.inf catalog= d4, fasttx2k.cat [HardwareIds.scsi.FastTrak_TX2K_xp] id="PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3376", "fasttx2k" id="PCI\VEN_105A&DEV_3373", "fasttx2k" [Config.fasttx2k] value = "", Tag, REG_DWORD, 1 Can you do the rest for yourself now? I.e. removing the subfolder structure.
  13. I guess you're at tweakers.net too? I also noticed, and just downloadING them. That's right, downloadING, because it takes AGES. SHAME ON YOU REALTEK!
  14. It will be part of the DriverPack Chipset Which will be released tomorrow if everything goes well.
  15. Download devcon from microsoft.com
  16. I've sent you an invite, amwag9. Anyone who want one, PM me. Please put your e-mail as subject.
  17. Why do you need the ace format, if I may ask?
  18. You guys really want to do it the hard way... But of course it's the better way. As soon as anyone can outline it DETAILED, I'll add it to the DriverPacks as an option. As much as I'm interested, I don't have the time to figure it out.
  19. 7-zip all the way! Best compression at least in comparison with zip, rar, cab etc. So in comparison with all the other 'comon' formats.
  20. It's not posible to run a batch file from DetchedProgram for extraction and then for install ? **** ! ← IT IS POSSIBLE, just not with the regular method (put file in a folder, let it be installed by setup) You'll have to use devcon, as I told you below that.
  21. Probably it's just a different version of the PStwo?
  22. **** mate, you did everything correctly! **** because now the error must be at my part of the story You ARE actually using DP MassStorage? And... I don't have that problem, here it works flawlessy...
  23. I guess so... I also just noticed. But I just don't understand WHY...
  24. HAWN???????????? WTF.............. Explicitly declaring the path? WRONG C:\windir\system32? WRONG WTF are you doing? You should use RELATIVE paths, and nothing should be pointing to %WinDir%\system32!!! I suggest you read this page again...
  25. HUH? You're completely right! But the other MassStorage drivers are listed under [FloppyFiles.2]!!!!! It seems the IDE drivers are listed under [FloppyFiles.1] and the RAID ones under [FloppyFiles.2]. But also the ATAPI driver is listed under 2... Let's see what I can find about it at microsoft.com...
