  1. And on which Windows are you trying to run it?
  2. By looking at the editbin's documentation: http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-US/library/203797te.aspx And since no parts from Windows require more than a few MBs in memory I still don't understand why would you want to modify Windows files. Just use it on the game (or whatever exe), make a tweak (could be addon) for context menu option and put editbin in system32. There are few alternative shells out there already, try them, maybe some of them are open source so you can contribute. I'm not interested in that, or lets say I can't handle all at once.
  3. While an interesting idea do you really need 2->3GB address space change? It must be games, or 3D modeling...but then you would need to modify those programs, not every Windows file?
  4. If it wasn't said already make sure to have msvidctl.dll in system32 and register it.
  5. strotee76, question is what do you do after nLite? If you do something like applying hotfix pack then that would explain it.
  6. nLite will remove it if you choose Internet Explorer Core, which is needed for many things so it's not recommended. Reason why it's kept is because it works and is useful to configure third party tools which still uses IE HTML engine or the occasional (file) Explorer html parse.
  7. Have you disabled HDD requirements in the Options page? About sharing permissions, of course you can do it, once you go to the Sharing and Security page (with Simple Sharing disabled) in the folder (or drive) context menu it will be easy.
  8. First nlite doesn't use cmd.exe in 1.3rc2 which means that you are not using clean installation files but some already modified by an older nlite. Not recommended so recopy clean CD with sp2 integrated and just load your preset to make proper ISO. Also if some error popups again then try without these: MSConfigCPL-FR.CAB wmp11.exe wu.exe And let me know if you know that some of them are causing havoc.

    0xc000000f Error

I do know that it's "only" the ISO engine bug for some, so create the bootable ISO with some other tool once the vLite is done with the processing. Got another report like this so I'm trying to reproduce it.
  10. HeadHunter2, it should not be empty. Post a screenshot and which folder it was.
  11. slimeballzz, basically all you need is to select DHCP Compatibility in the components page - compatibility and leave ethernet drivers or integrate your own. Keep MultiCPU if that is X2. Also integrate some update pack for xp sp2 and chipset drivers. For "run off a CF card" I don't know, first try in virtual then on normal hdd then experiment. For "Set user permission"...what do you mean by that, NTFS or simply File Sharing permissions?
  12. Please do this: set it in nlite how it doesn't work, save that preset, go to the nlite\presets folder and copy presetname_u.ini file of the preset you just created. But edit it and change all the sensitive (private) entries like passwords and cdkey to something else for me to try, attach it here. Keep it in the format how it was written, just change the letters or numbers so that we don't see your real password or cdkey.

    permission problem

First of all why don't you integrate SP2 into that installation?
  14. Ok if there is no winnt.sif, I just thought that you add it because in your preset the unattended page wasn't selected. Let me know when you find anything, it simply worked when I tried it. You can also exclude few options and see what causes it for you, that can be very helpful.
  15. lol after 2-3 years? Can I just say I'll get back to you in next 2 years Thing with this over the years is that it's simply corrupted CAB and when it's extracted it doesn't extract all the files. Some users could confirm it by testing the driver, sp1 and sp2 cab in Winrar (the Test button).
  16. I tried it and it worked without any problem. Check your winnt.sif if you're using your own unattended...or maybe some other modifications
  17. So it's same as XP, ok but I think that gets restarted during setup...we'll see, I'll definitely try it, thx.
  18. strotee76, there is something wrong with your install, I don't see those after removal.
  19. strotee76, AIO is not from Microsoft, it's from Winbeta, unofficial. And please don't move anything it must be as it is in the directory structure for AIO to work after vLite.
  20. Does anyone sees that compatibility option!? You don't need to keep it just select the holly option.
  21. I already put the compatibility option in the latest version, try it, it works.
  22. Have you removed 16bit support? If you haven't then check if your cd has CONFIG.NT_ file in the i386 folder. If it has then attach your preset and write down any extra steps besides nlite. Thx.

    1.3 RC2

Mama mia, it goes first RVM, then nLite then BTS. No wonder your languages were failing...gotta add this note somewhere visible. But it's just logical, how can you first remove few components then put RVM pack which is ment for clean full installation.
  24. Do you have wiaaut.dll in the system32 after using Paint compatibility and removed WIA? If you have try deleting it then try to run Paint.NET and see if it will error out before print, that would at least show what is compatibility for.

    Windows Update

Yeah I tried the same and then concluded with trials that it's the "Component Cache" component. It says so in it's description if you were lucky to get it after the silent update. I'll look into it, could be it only needs few files from it, otherwise that component is a goner.
