Latest video of my gaming rig: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6eV-Q85okU Specs in the signature, I got myself a Logitech Z-5500 THX 5.1 surround sound speaker system. -
I don't think so, I think a 295 GTX has only one SLI connector, and 6 GPU's in SLI isn't possible.

Where can I find out what chipset I have exactly?
Thunderbolt 2864 replied to anthonyaudi's topic in Hardware Hangout
Try downloading CPU-Z and when you open it click on the "Mainboard" tab. -
XP got my vote, can't stand Vista. Hopefully Windows 7 will be more of an improvement, I need an upgrade but its not Vista.
-
To be honest I don't have any hopes for Internet Explorer and any future releases. But thanks for posting this.

I upgraded my rig again this time with a new Coolermaster HAF case and a lovely Q9650 due to the recent price drop. http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=WWe4G6MnuXo Specs: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 at 3Ghz 4GB 800Mhz DDR2 RAM 1x SATA Western Digital 500 GB, 1x Seagate 200 GB hard drive 4870x2 2GB Sapphire ATI Radeon video card 32" LG LCD HDTV at 1920x1080 1080p Antec TruePower Quattro 1000W ATX Power Supply 1x 20 LG DVD Burner 1x LG SATA BluRay & HDDVD Combo Drive Running Windows XP Professional x64 SP2 and Server 2003 SP2 Gigabyte GA-EP45-DQ6 motherboard Coolermaster HAF 932 full tower case At least this time I did some cable management, though not perfect but better than my previous rigs. Also, I need a new cooler because my Zalman can't handle a quad core when overclocked. -
Call Of Duty: Word at War -VS- Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare
Thunderbolt 2864 replied to Redhatcc's topic in Gamers Hangout
I prefer Modern Warfare. To be honest, WaW did not really appeal to me so much, getting sick of the WW2 theme, there has been enough FPS based on that, at least Infinity Ward didn't produce it so therefore I wasn't too angry. But the good news the next COD installment will be produced by Infinity Ward again and its based on Modern Warfare again which is good news. I use a PC to play this game by the way. -

^^ I decided to fix it a little while ago and now the fan is pointed in the left direction where those two other LED fans are. Is that the right way? -

^^ The last time I tried overclocking my 4870x2, loading any 3D application would hang my computer. But it doesn't really matter, my 4870x2 is fast enough. I also overclocked my E8500 to 3.80Ghz, though I'll attempt to overclock to 4.0Ghz again later on by increasing the voltages. Thanks for your comment. -

Sorry to hear your loss, man. You have my condolences.

I recently got a 32" LCD and here is a video on YouTube: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=nZSfTJyfxv4 Specs in my signature. -
Whoa! i810, stop right there. I had one, worked on many, even on their best day these were horrible. Retire it or keep it functional only for testing dangerous apps and viruses! More importantly, purchasing 512 MB of SDRAM will absolutely kill you. Even at the cheapest places it will kill you. Do not buy this memory! 512 MB of SDRAM will cost more than 2 GB of DDR3. Buy a current motherboard, if it must run Win9x you know where to research it: Compatible Hardware with Windows 9x. If it does not require Win9x you can buy almost anything (but make sure it is DDR3 so that RAM is cheap). Skip this upgrade, that money will be much better spent and go a much longer way on new tech. P.S. doesn't NewEgg ship to you? Don't you mean DDR2? DDR3 is still expensive. However, DDR2 is pretty much dirt cheap these days.

A 32" HDTV at 1920x1080 good for computing?
Thunderbolt 2864 replied to Thunderbolt 2864's topic in Hardware Hangout
I made a video: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=nZSfTJyfxv4 -
As most of those guys mentioned, those specs you listed there is very old and outdated. However, you I suggest these low end parts that ain't too bad: AMD Athlon 5000+ X2 AM2 - $74 GeForce 8400 GS - $44 2GB DDR2 RAM - $38 And you can get a cheap low end AM2 motherboard for like $69 or maybe less. These parts will do so much better than the ones you listed.

A 32" HDTV at 1920x1080 good for computing?
Thunderbolt 2864 replied to Thunderbolt 2864's topic in Hardware Hangout
Thanks for your opinion guys, I've already purchased the 32" LCD, it looks great under 1920x1080, no need for 30" 2560x1600. Games look amazing, especially Call Of Duty 4. And my 4870x2 does a great job at 1920x1080 as well. -
The cheapest E8400 is about $210 - which is still expensive, but not so badly priced. And you should look into a 9600 GT if you don't mind spending a bit more money. The rest of the specs look fine.

Hey guys, I'm planning to get a 32" HDTV to replace my current 22" monitor, and the size of the TV really appeals to me and the price range isn't so bad either compared to other LCD TVs. So if you guys have a monitor that big that supports a 1920x1080 resolution, is it worth it? I would like to get a 30" that supports a 2560x1600 resolution but the problem is its heavily overpriced and I would hate to have lower FPS when I game on that resolution. So please give my any feedback if you had the experience using a 1920x1080 resolution on a big screen LCD, thanks. If you want to know, I'm planning to get this LCD TV: http://www.digitalhome.com.au/Tvs_And_Home...HD_LCD_TV/25970

NEC unveils massive 82-inch Monitor
Thunderbolt 2864 replied to fivestars's topic in Hardware Hangout
Still using a 1920x1080 resolution for a LCD size that big? I think thats way to small. But yet again, most video cards don't support anything above 2560x1600 if I'm correct. -
I've owned all these cards: 2MB S3 Virge - Got old and I threw it out Some 32MB card - Worked for a week and it died and fried my entire system - luckily I was able to get a refund at the expense of losing my entire computer but I got a new one afterwards 32MB TNT2 NVIDIA - One day it just died, thought it worked well for like 4 years 128MB ATI 9250 Pro - Sold it Radeon 9600 Pro - Was defected on arrival though it worked but started playing up, causing my machine to freeze, got it replaced with a 9600 XT which is still in operation Radeon 9600XT - Still in operation on my first AMD machine Gigabyte GeForce 6500 128MB - Sold it for a 1650 Pro Powercolor 1650 Pro 512MB - Dead on arrival, replaced with a 256MB ASUS 1650 Pro Radeon ASUS Radeon 1650 Pro 256MB - Sold it for a GeForce 8800 GTS Gigabyte GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB - Current on my second AMD machine Sapphire Radeon 2GB 4870x2 - Current on my Intel machine So I owned like 11 cards altogether, I've had 4 that was defected. And I'm not counting integrated onboard video.

I vote other. The current XP visuals are alright, but if you use it all the time it gets dull and boring. So right now I'm using some Vista skin on my XP, looks nice.

New computer after 5 years, can you help me?
Thunderbolt 2864 replied to phaolo's topic in Hardware Hangout
If you go for Intel, get a P45 board, I have one and it works great. And definately get the AMD 790GX/FX/X series if your going for AMD. As for the video card, if you want a card that isn't too expensive, either try the 4850 or 9800 GTX+. Or get a 4870 or a 260 GTX if your willing to spend more. -

Like Zxian said, change the motherboard. The Nforce 500 series is old, the latest one is Nforce 7. But since Nforce motherboards aren't that great, I suggest going for an AMD chipset, 790GX or FX. The rest of the specs look fine.
