  1. Hi, I have an XP installation total of 4 GIGs on my primary hard drive. And when I go to properties, it views that I've used up 11 GIG. I know there are 2 hidden system files that equates to 3 GIGs, which equals to 7 GIGS. Is it possible to recover the extra 4 GIGS of disk space? I was just wondering. I've emptied out the recycle bin, used the disk cleanup and nothing worked. Is there a solution to recover the extra 4 gig disk space? Thanks.
  2. Depends if your hardware vendor has 64 bit drivers. And some applications won't even function properly while using x64 Windows. The advantages is it does load much faster, the disadvantages are some drivers and applications are incompatible with 64 bit Windows.
  3. Well, try removing one of your hardware. Did you purchase any new hardware recently? If so, remove that one first, and see if that solves the problem. If you find the conflicting hardware, I suggest you replace it.
  4. You probably have a hardware problem, which causes automatic shutdowns or restarts.
  5. You'll need a program that can clone your hard drive, like Norton Ghost.
  6. Perform a system restore from an earlier point, see if that helps.
  7. Anyway, thanks for your translation Sereby. I think the subtitles weren't that accurate.
  8. Yeah, I did that, burned it directly from the program and the CD isn't bootable. Don't know why. And I'm using Norton Ghost 9.0.
  9. If you want to watch the same clip with subtitles, here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTwgNhX4BSo Geez, that kid gets mad because somebody fragged him in Unreal Tournament. But it was funny though, I watched it few times.
  10. I'll use a ghost program to restore my Windows XP image, that would save a lot of time just to reinstall and update everything. Better than to have to reinstall and update everything, of course. One question, at my uni, you insert an image CD and it boots straight away and starts restoring the drive. But mine, the CD image isn't bootable and I have to boot up Norton Ghost and do it manually, does anybody know how to boot from the CD/DVD image directly without starting Norton Ghost?
  11. Set it to my ISP members page.
  12. Huh.... that was creepy. Even if I get mad, I wouldn't flip out like that. Does anybody knows what he was saying? First he was laughing, and then he gets really ticked off.
  13. Personally, I like XP more. Sure, Windows Server 2003 is much faster, but I prefer XP such as burning discs, gaming and video. I have both operating systems. XP is more suitable for home and workstation use. I think both operating systems are stable. And plus XP is more cheaper than 2003.
  14. Don't try the Unofficial 98SE SP with ME. It won't work. Corrupts the system files and it won't boot into ME later on.
  15. Use a download manager. I couldn't be bothered with Internet Explorer or the Firefox download manager, both of them suck. I highly recommend Internet Download Manager, or you could google some other download managers.
  16. Upgrade to XP for sure. Or you could use Windows 2000 if you want faster performance. Be sure to install the service packs as well.
  17. I hate Java. Yes it does hog up system memory, for example, Limewire. I download multiple files at once, and what do you know, my computer lags badly. Wish the Limewire people would fix this, or move to another programming code. And learning the program language is a nightmare. Failed it, and I'll try to avoid it, though I wanted to re-do the subject again, but time will tell.
  18. What I'm currently running: My own computer: Primary OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 Secondary OS: Windows Server 2003 R1 SP1 Other computer: Primary OS: Windows XP Pro SP2 Secondary OS: Windows 2000 Pro SP4 Was running Windows 98 SE but I deleted it.
  19. Well, it was my motherboard that was faulty. Replaced it, works fine.
  20. No offense, I think this NT vs 9x crap is getting old. Of course, most people would say that the NT kernel has more advantages, no use to compare which one is better. 9x is old, of course it doesn't have much advanced features, why even bother criticising it. Personally I liked both kernels, but I prefer the NT kernel. Though the 9x kernel loads much faster, so both kernels has their advantages and disadvantages.
  21. Try to reinstall your sound card drivers. That might work.
  22. Geez, thats stupid isn't it? Whats the hold up? I thought Microsoft is a big software company, don't they have enough testers and programmers to finish off the project in time? Oh well, they'll have more time to improve the OS, and at least that is a good thing.
  23. Guess I'll have to bring it to my local computer store where I brought it. They'll tell me what to do, and I'm willing to buy a new motherboard if that is the case. I think my CPU is working fine, I'll have to find out.
  24. multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Server 2003" You see partition(1), I think that should be 2. Because 2003 is on the second parition. Change that and see what happens. If not, I consider reinstalling Windows Server 2003. Or did you install 2003 first and then XP? Because if you install XP after you installed 2003, 2003 will not boot. Install the older version of Windows first, and then install the newer version later on a different partition.
