Regarding your first issue, I'd say it's due to bad RAM. Have you tried to run a memtest86 on it? As for the second issue, you see 2 processors because it is running in hyperthreading (1 physical processor and a "virtual" one).

Eh, I remember my first car... @silzazsyh Make sure both pc's are in the same IP class (i.e. 192.168.0.1 and 192.168.0.2) and subnet mask (255.255.255.0). Try ping`ing each other to make sure the connection between them works ok. On the pc that connects directly to the internet run Internet Connection Sharing (a PITA IMHO) and see if you have internet on the second pc. Radeon 9600 Pro supports aero and flip-3d. Make sure you get the latest drivers off ATI. What flavour of Vista are you using? Is it x86 or x64?
