  1. The question is a classic. Here an answer from 3 years ago.
  2. 1) Check the "Instal XP from USB" sub forum, that's what you want. 2) nLite is only doing what you tell it to do. You add a software, it adds it. Next, you don't add it, ... it won't remove it. There is no "remove non standard WindowsXP component" feature in nLite. You are always supposed to start with a fresh set of files.
  3. Johnc, please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini. Make sure to always start with a fresh copy of your CD files/folders, do all your work in one nLite session and integrate only one SP. Please report when you have a solution, so others can benefit. Enjoy, Ponch. More seriously, I got that as well but that makes it only once today, I guess it has to do with some maintenance. I think you should have posted this in the Site & Forum Issues subforum.

What you ask doesn't make sense. You'll spend more time checking someone else's presets than starting from scratch.
  5. If you can pull them from one side while you melt the metal without burning yourself, that's how I've done it. They're bad caps anyway. Having a vacuum pump helped as well.
  6. you could also compare -the price of cd and a cdrw (that will get worn with time anyway) -the time it takes to burn them (at 52x and 10x) -the time it takes to download Ubuntu (700MB) and GParted (90MB) -the time it takes to boot Ubuntu Live and to boot GPartEd Live. not so sure it's a waste of a cd.
  7. Certainly yes. +You have 30 days to activate.
  8. what about reasons it is not skipped, like the OP asks ?
  9. You probably need just to tick the "Skip OOBE" box on the "Unattended" screen.
  10. Doesn't Ghost14 include "gdisk.exe" (command line partition tool) ?
  11. ... You can't read a DVD-RW in a CD drive. If that is the case (always be careful when stating the obvious ).
  12. If you are going to report inconsistency, avoid making that much errors in the numbers you type, or using sentences like "It's confusing the third is missing the seconds". My screen has 8 "last sessions" listed and everything is consistent. Years, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds. The missing "AM-PM" has been reported long ago. For the "missing seconds", it is not confusing as the line you choosed (in case you've forgotten 1/2 a second later) is still highlited in the list when you see that. As for your last sentence, I don't really get it. NLite will list all presets that were created each time you used the program to do anything else than integrate a Service Pack or burn an iso.
  13. ...for free when the software is $69 and so it doesn't take a genius to figure it is warez. Please don't link to this kind of CD.
  14. If all that matters is boot time, you could disable Prefetch or empty the Prefetch folder
  15. If that was true, you'd be able to buy your Windows XP cdrom at the corner shop for $3.
  16. I had that with a Compaq but only 1 in 10 times. It is not driver related as it is right from 1st second. Bad inverter makes the screen go dark. I don't know what causes the screen to go white. Probably a bad contact in the vide card connection. Maybe a cable problem.
  17. Search the forum for "fully updated".
  18. Can you get (and stay) into BIOS screen or does is reboot before that ? Or does it reboot once the OS (which is ???)starts ?
  19. You can use GPartEd from bootable CD or USB drive. I'm not sure about what will happen with your Solaris boot loader but you won't loose data. Get back here for any problem booting.

    help plz witn nlite

    See Rule 12 plz.
  21. you probably need the "textmode" drivers. The one with OEMSETUP.txt in its folder. +are you sure it is not V8237 instead ?
  22. I'd use your plain french keyboard which already has a set of accents. You might also be interresed into "Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator". For some characters that I see you now cut and paste, you might also try to memorize this B) and use "Alt+the code". Like Alt+168 gives "¿".
  23. How many keyboards can I connect and use? 1, 2, 6...? as much as you have ports (usb or PS2) Is this possible with Ps2 connectors and some splitter? Or Usb only? both. Only PS2 needs to be plugged at boot (no plug&play) Are all keyboards active at the same time? yes but with one same config (also for NumLock-ShiftLock) Do I need to switch the layout applied by Windows when I go from one keyboard to another? so yes. Use Alt+Shift to switch languages and corresponding keyboard
  24. Does the key work with that cd before nLite or is it a pre-activated cd and you use the key that's on your sticker ?
  25. You probably have a card reader that takes the 1st four letters, then 2 optical drives or maybe an other HDD. The easiest way is to physically unplug the card reader before installation. Elegant way is to fiddle with Bios settings (HP ) until you get what you want.
