  1. ? Could you please elaborate on this. What does it not see that it sees with 3.5 ?
  2. How original is your original disk (what's written on it)? Could you install it with better result on that other machine as is? Please attach (not paste) your Last Session.ini as requested in bold red letters above this page if you want more potential explanations on your (now solved) problem.
  3. Indeed. Idem for the "Sites", the 1st 3 I clicked are dead. + I found one more site yesterday; paste Youtube URL and download the MP3 (even if longer than 10 minutes). http://www.flv2mp3.com/
  4. -here one that says it clearly. I think other methods using full iso are also suitable. Just fyi.
  5. Check our "Install XP from USB" forum for alternative methods that do not use that.
  6. Moving files around on a suspected defective drive is not the best of ideas. Did you let the checks run until the end ? When you run it manually, does it show any bad sectors in final report ? Search for info about "dirty bit". Here for instance.
  7. Read the big red instruction up this screen. -> attach (not paste) your 'last session.ini" so we know what you've done - please state exactly what media you are using as starting point.
  8. I guess it's like pointing to an installation disk, it expects everything to be there and won't search in the parent directory. Though this has nothing to do with nLite, more with Unattended XP. I don't mean that nLite is not about "unattended XP" but it has no option to do what you want, it only could implement the reg tweak that you'll have to find out.
  9. Because making an ISO file is an option. The 1st use of nLite was to remove unneeded part of the installation files. Original files are copied to an empty folder, then selected elements are removed from the set of files. The working folder can be considered as the final product. You can also manually add, modify or remove things (before making an iso). That's why there is no "disregarding" list.
  10. Your problem does not at first seem to be "USB install" related so this should land in the nLite forum. But don't forget nLite is for personal use only, not for professional(domain?) use.

    slipstream sp3

This does not answer my 2 questions. Does it ONLY show exe files in that mini browser, as it should?
  12. "Create a bootable ISO" has not been selected in the 1st screen. --> no ISO. There definitely is a bug choosing the Desktop as a working folder for nLite. You also placed drivers on the desktop for them to be integrated... bad luck. I think you're no the first. As for your other items, hum... stop using that computer immediately, and learn how to recover files booting from either an optical drive or USB or an other computer/OS with your disk as slave.
  13. What about the shop that sold you your 1st key ?

    slipstream sp3

Are they all exe files ? Does it say "Exe files (*.exe)" in the bottom of that window ?
  15. What you want is "Mass Storage" drivers.

    slipstream sp3

What screen are you stuck on exactly ? Why do you say "nothing happens" and "it behaves like cab files" ? Can you actually point to that exe? Does nLite ignore it ? or go to next step ? or crash ? or close properly after that ?

    slipstream sp3

Supposing you use the appropriate part of the program (1st option, integrate Service Pack), after selecting the source and/or working folder, point nLite to the EXE file (SP3) and tell us what error you get.
  18. You should search the "XP Unattended" and "XP customization" forums as those options you list are not featured in nLite.

    ISO labels

I've never seen that with an XP disc. The disc label is cosmetic here. If you really don't want to burn coasters, try your ISOs in VirtualBox before you burn one.
  20. That's actually pretty well matched. All depends if he meant good example as in "good to go" and mismatched as in "not exactly matched", when you mean "actually pretty well matched" as in "could pretty well do". So you both agree. Fact is that an adaptor that was made to deliver twice the power in (Amps) will give a slightly higher voltage when underused (in Amps). It's all in the spec's curve. I'd say in the big lines, the only potential problems are battery life and warranty, but on a laptop that's more than 3 years old, you can forget both.

    OOBE

What you mean is ... what is the effect of selecting SKIP OOBE in the General tab of the Unattended screen in nLite. Well, it skips OOBE, which stands for Out Of the Box Experience. That is, as Lejon89 says, the part at the end of XP install where it asks you (with a little background music) to create user(s), to register your copy of Windows, to activate (not sure about this one), and maybe to set up your firewall.
  22. yes it does/should. Unless you set the real root as folder (but I don't think nLite would let you do that). nLites works your files in a directory that you create when you copy your files from the starting media (all steps untill "make ISO") and all of that directory is put in the ISO when you click "Make iso". You must be doing something wrong from the start.
  23. You do NOT want to make a bootable CD with Nero. Your cd is already bootable. It is not clear if you -simply- tried to build an ISO and burn it (with Nero) "as image". You can include your folders before cliclking the "Make ISO" button at the end of the process.
  24. While we are being pedantic, you might rephrase this pleonasme.
  25. Attach your Last sesion.ini file. +state what set of file you start with (original Microsoft XP cd ?)
