Addons come in cab and 7z formats, you add them as such in the list, no handling required.

I've used the following lines to move hundreds of profiles and data folders over computers last year. I found out robocopy is very slow for big amounts of files but having it only check after xcopy had done the job was a big improvement (checking on missing files only on a 2nd pass is very fast). For instance copying c:\ data to F:\c_data , including protected files and invalid paths (too long). xcopy C:\Data F:\c_data /e /i /h /c /k /y /r robocopy C:\Data F:\c_data /e /r:1 /w:1 /v /np /zb /xo I can't remember what all the switches were about but you can easily find out for yourself. Note that depending on the target location or the reason why it is invalid at first, the final file name might still be invalid. You can shorten a file's total name by shortening (enough) any folder name in its path. An other workaround to access/use the file is to map a network drive that includes most the path.

No you did not, you selected all but them as components to be removed. Appearing in the Last Session.ini are Components to be removed, drivers (from the drivers section, not from components) to be added, tweaks and options to be selected as change to the OS (non MS-standard value).
-
Remove the lines that specifically say they are not for your OS. ...C48 Epson printer\ENGLISH\WIN9X... ...Trust\Mouse\WinNT40... Do you even need an additional driver for a mouse ? ...ZDWLAN 11g USB (I)\Drivers\Windows_2000... ...ZDWLAN 11g USB (I)\Drivers\Windows_98... ...ZDWLAN 11g USB (I)\Drivers\Windows_Me... also the lines with "autorun.inf" in them are probably not drivers but launchers of the drivers installers, they should not be here.

You're integrating drivers for NT4.0 , Win98 and WinME, .... .
-
Did not spring to mind but it's a known issue indeed (or was it computer name and computer owner that can't be the same). Glad you figured it out by yourself.

Where from ? Can you attach your Last session.ini file (should be in the root of your folder). If not formated yet, can you check what SATA CONTROLLER is on your motherboard ? (if formatted, there are offline tools to do that). You might have more luck using "driverpacks" than what(ever) you tried. Also please check forum rule #11.

For your user, be sure to start with a fresh set of files. nLites assumes your "new" user does not exist. If it does (for instance, you run nLite a second time on the same set of files), settings will not be applied properly in resulting OS. 0): nLite doesn't handle this. You will need to edit the winnt.sif manually after nLite has processed files but before making/burning iso. Search for "autopartition" 3) and 5) can be done via reg entries. 4) is a Bios setting, independant from OS-> does not apply.

error - cdr103 cdrom not high sierra or iso-9660 format
Ponch replied to flavius69's topic in Windows 9x/ME
You can try downloading an image and rebuilding a new floppy from bootdisk.com. If it still doesn't work and your cdrom media is prerfectly redable, then as it seems, the reader or its connection to the motherboard is defective. Can you boot from any bootable CD ? 10 years is quite ok for an optical drive to die. You could still try reinstalling from USB, booting USB via "Plop Boot Manager" on floppy. -
... he says the 5th port is "on the card". Could it be one of those that "features 4 external ports and 1 internal port sharing with an external port" ?
-
To get around this first error, yes. But I think you'll get other problems like you're integrating a file called wmplayer.exe, If it is the media player installer from Microsoft, it won't integrate as such, and your updates for. You need to check the addons subforum for programs as Internet Explorer and WMP. There are a lot of threads about these here as well. +Where did you get your updates ? They have strange file names.
-
You're trying to integrate files (updates?) for WinXP 64bit in a 32bit edition (There is no Service Pack 3 for the 64-bit version of Windows XP so yours must be 32bit)
-
You'd still have spaces in "My Documents" and before that in "C:\Documents and Settings" and probably in what follows. But I personally don't think spaces are the problem, rather the total length of the path and file names (which is a Windows problem, not nLite problem).

Free proxy server software and Free word to pdf software
Ponch replied to JackMJ's topic in Software Hangout
Says "provides 3-user free version of proxy server software" but it's mainly a commercial program. Be careful before being banned as spamming new member. -
I've seen plenty (same brand though, in Fujtsu-Siemens PCs) that 1 year later would not open when vertical.

Heatsinks never die. But then CPU and form factors are rapidly obsolete.
-
This is a technical forum, things are to be clear, reasons have to be given. I just added one, if I'm allowed.

I was not referring to spaces in paths or names that are too long, as indeed this has been pointed to in this thread already, I guess Lapetite66 got the message. I was writing about people having issues putting drivers on the desktop for integration by nLite. I can't remember whether the problem was showing only when selecting "Integrate more drivers" or if the cause was unzipping files directly to the Desktop before operation, but some have ended with a whole bunch of files from the desktop in their iso, including some from the Recycle Bin. Can't find an example right now.

XP hangs during every session; can't get memory dump
Ponch replied to Click Beetle DX's topic in Windows XP
Well... it will always be a hardware/software problem. Question is, hardware or software. But rulling out the only physical changes you made when trying XP (those two HDD and their connections), you could isolate the problem to something like -bad XP(SP3?), drivers (incompatible devices?) -dodgy XP installation/media (though you did it twice). -incompatible partitioning scheme (did you let XP create/format the partitions ?) -incompatible additional software (...non MS, installed after XP). -
XP hangs during every session; can't get memory dump
Ponch replied to Click Beetle DX's topic in Windows XP
Do you mean you've during that "long" time used 98SE without problem (as well as today) ? I would try searching for XP drivers updates for all device or disabling devices one by one. Those you can obviously; modem, network, sound... Can you rule out a contact problem in the power/signal connectors to the 2nd HDD (IDE/SATA) ? if that make sense. -
To be honest, there is probably something you forgot to tell us. There is no way a resolution change will do anything to the choices on "Welcome Screen" (or maybe one will disappear because the screen has become to small to show it?). XP Home, XP Pro ? In safe mode, can you not see all the users in Computer Management ? Does "your" user name show there ? Does it have a folder in C:\Documents and settings" ? If your user is listed in Computer Management, (and not deactivated), at Welcome screen (users icons screen), even in normal mode, you should be able to login anyway using 'Ctrl+Alt+Del' twice, entering username and password. For your 1st problem, is the additional screen supposed to go higher than 1024x768 which I suppose is the max resolution of your laptop's screen? If it does, it will not do if you choose to have the same image on both screen (in which case, you will have the same resolution on both screen with the laptop's 1024x768 as reference). You have to chose which is the primary screen and the dual display mode; -duplicated screen (same image on both screens), -dual desktop (primary has the start button and the task bar, secondary can be moved "around" by dragging the small icon representing it ), -extended desktop (task bar on both screens, start button on primary, secondary can be moved "around")
-
Does Bios report correctly when both are connected ("HDD" and "DVD") ?
-
OK for the "Recovery Console" then. And Allen2's link also leads to this additional info:
-
You mean the physical device is not reading properly or is your media/install not working ?
-
Do not jump from one problem to an other. Putting files on the "desktop" has been known to give problems as well (but I think it was more in the "drivers integration" module, if I remember properly).
